The Bunkhouse är en av 4 semesterbostäder på en 60 hektar stor egendom av rullande kullar i utkanten av Texas Hill Country. Huset ligger ovanför en av de högsta kullarna i området så därifrån har du fantastisk utsikt över landskapet. Precis utanför gårdsgärdet gräver kor. Kom och sitta på verandan gunga och njut av frisk luft och ständigt närvarande vindar. Omkring huset är gamla levande ekar som bott där, ty innan de tyska invandrare som bosatte sig området anlände i mitten av 1800-talet. Och även om du är i lugnet i landet är det bara några minuter till städerna New Braunfels, Seguin eller San Marcos. Alla tre erbjuder besökare en mängd attraktioner plus många restauranger, affärer och rekreationsmöjligheter. Och på ungefär 30 till 45 minuter kan du köra till San Antonio eller Austin och njuta av allt som dessa städer har att erbjuda.
Huset har 2 sovrum vardera med en queen size-säng plus det finns en queen size bäddsoffa i vardagsrummet. Köket och vardagsrum / matsal ger en trevlig öppen plats att samla. Det finns ett separat tvättstuga med tvättmaskin och torktumlare. På wrap-around veranda finns picknickbord, stolar och en veranda swing. En kolgrill tillhandahålls. En liten inhägnad gård är ett bra ställe för ditt husdjur eller barn att leka. Men du kan också njuta av det stora utrymmet utanför gårdsgärdet!

Quaint house in serene setting. Saw several scorpions, which is not unexpected in the country. We had to contact the property manager to get the access code because we didn’t receive an email and this was complicated by an incorrect phone number in “contact owner”. VRBO chat assistant helped us get the right phone number. Had to do some minor housekeeping when we arrived but nothing major. Joy (owner) was very responsive once we made contact and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

My family and I were so impressed with the location and the property the home sits on. So peaceful and a great place to take pictures if you’re a lover of nature photography. The home was so spacious and you just felt at home and relaxed. The cows were also a pleasant sight to see and made very little noise. If you are looking for peace, calm and country tranquility; this is the perfect place! We will definitely be back! Also, the pictures they have for this place just doesn’t do justice, this place has so much to offer when it comes to beauty and peace.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Bunkhouse. Everything was clean and in good condition. The location is wonderful, quiet and serene. Nice porches to sit and watch the humming birds flitting around in the magnificent areas of wildflowers. Fun to watch the cats and kittens who live in the structure next door. Our dog enjoyed the smells in the little fenced in garden area. Joy was very responsive when we had questions. New Braunfels is just 20 minutes away.

Wild flowers and black cow calves.

Watching the 3 calves run through the flowers and play with each other while the very big momma cow watched was so much fun. Sitting on the front porch in the evening gave us a spectacular view of the sunset. Looking out the living room window in the morning to see miles of the beautiful Texas country side made this bunkhouse very special. Frankly our stay made us long to leave Oahu, and find some space to breath. Thank you.

Really awesome

Only complaint was the fridge but seeing as though there were no other complaints my assumption is it was just bad timing. It went out when I stayed there. I would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing Weekend

It was a very relaxing weekend in a house a top a hill. Very nice scenery. Our four labs enjoyed running through pastures and getting to stretch their legs. Lots of things to do in any direction.

A quick getaway trip to the area. Wanted to stay away from the crowds.

Great place, as advertised. Had 2 dogs, the yard was perfect to let them roam. Relaxing in the backyard in the evening was nice. Close to many nice small towns to spend the days.

Quiet Country Setting

This is a good place for people with dogs. Two things to know about these cabins...1) the 4 cabins are set up in two sites. So you will have very close neighbors. 2) The linens/towels are clean but old. That said, we would stay here again.

Total Quiet and Great Place for the Dogs too!

Trying to find a place that will allow dogs over 50 lbs isn't easy, so I was happy when I found this listing. And the fact that extra fees didn't almost double the per-night pricing was definitely a huge plus (so many listings do). When we arrived, we were greeted at the gate in front of the house by a small welcoming committee of Black Angus. They were more curious to meet the dogs than the dogs were to see them (they're used to cows). The house comes with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable (including TV and puzzles, coffee and coffeemaker). I loved that the side and back yard was fenced so I didn't have to keep the girls on leashes the whole time. The rooms were a good size. There's a washer and dryer (complete with laundry products). It was lovely to sit out on the porch on the swing and sip wine in the evenings and enjoy the peace and quiet (except for an occasional moo) while the girls explored. When we're back in the area, we'll definitely be booking this place again.

Very comfortable

I have never seen such a wide variety of pillows at a rental or hotel before, even had memory form pillows. The beds were very comfortable too. The cows were pretty cool to hear and watch. It is far enough out to be able to see stars well. Host was also very accommodating.

Amazing Stay!

This is our third time staying at Sherman and Joy's properties and our second time staying at the Bunkhouse. It's a great weekend getaway to the country in a fully furnished cabin.

Sherman and Joy Schlichting är värd

This property has been in our family since the mid 1800s when our German ancestors came to Texas seeking a better life. They settled in these hills and grew cotton, various other crops, cattle and kids. Lots of things have changed since then but one thing has not - our love for this place! Joy grew up in The Farmhouse on top of the hill. The Bunkhouse was once a detached garage. We moved The Cabin and Opa's Haus onto the property and restored them. We are now trying to restore the land. We have planted several acres with native grasses and other native species in an attempt to help the land heal from years of use. Our hope is that we will provide a habitat for some species of wildlife that have been driven into near extinction. We also enjoy providing a place where families can spend time together in a quiet space free from the hustle and bustle of city life. So come enjoy the country!
