A perfectly placed cottage overlooking Mackerel Cove!

Welcome to Elroy Johnson Cottage!

This perfectly placed cottage sits right on top of Bailey Island s Mackerel Cove! With 180 degree views of the cove we encourage you to make a cup of coffee, go sit on the deck and watch the lobstermen set sail out into the open ocean. Although technically considered a 2 bedroom cottage, Elroy Johnson Cottage can sleep up to 8 people. Upon walking through the house you will enter from the road side and work your way down the hall and into the kitchen. Off of the kitchen you will see the dining area, living area with views of Mackerel Cove, the den with a flat screen tv and sofa with a pullout full size bed, another bathroom with a shower/tub combo and the large primary bedroom with cathedral ceilings and a queen size bed. Working your way upstairs is a large second floor bedroom with a queen size bed and two twin beds. The second level also has it's own bathroom with a stand-up shower.
Have a boat? Kayaks? Or just feel like going for a swim? Right off of the expansive deck feel free to work your way down to Johnson s very own private dock. Want to lay out and get some Vitamin D? The beach at Mackerel Cove is only a short walk down the hill from the house. Whatever you chose to do...this place is the perfect spot for you!

A Little Bit of Heaven

This is a charming home with a spectacular view of Mackerel Cove. We loved the location.Kitchen,Dining area And master bedroom were wonderful. The wicker porch furniture in the living room was not adequate for our needs. We were unable to cool down the upstairs for sleeping, in spite of the fans , open windows, and beautiful skylight shades.

Best Views, Clean, Cozy, and Great Location

The view is stunning. The Bailey Island Grocery Store is a 1/2 mile away ....best lobster rolls and sandwiches. The Fishnet Cafe is next door if you want something more dinner-like. I had great five-mile walks every day up to the other side of the bridge and stopped at the Salt Cod Cafe for a bottle of water. Walk the Cedar Beach area on the way back for more beautiful views. Walking on the road is fine as drivers are very cautious of pedestrians. Suggestions...the upstairs is hot unless you open the sky windows ...then there is a nice breeze, and it ventilates the downstairs when the sun is hot in the afternoon. The downstairs will heat up in the sun...but it can be venilated without turning on the window a/c. Older guests will struggle with the upstairs. Some more comfortable chairs on the porch would be helpful as well. The home will sleep 8....but I think four is comfortable for adults...kids upstairs would be fine for more. We used the den-tv room as a bedroom and moved the TV to the main room. Parking is not easy...but you become an expert very quickly. The pad is ~100 feet from the entrance....so you get your exercise. This home was spotless, and the management company was excellent at communicating. We loved it and gave it a five-star rating! One of our best trips ever to Maine. We stayed for two weeks. We would have stayed longer, but the place was booked. Thats how perfect this little place is.
