Perfect location to get the best taste of the surrounding area. We were there for the buffalo roundup at Custer State Park and the Volkswalk at Crazy Horse, both a “must-see”

Great cottage!

We loved our stay! Julie was excellent to work with and easy to communicate with! Was so nice that it was close to downtown shopping and restaurants! Very cute inside!

The property was as described. Very clean and nicely decorated. Julie was great during the entire process and communicated very quickly. Would definitely stay again.

The perfect location for all the sites to see. Perfect size, efficient for all of our needs. Quiet and very relaxing. Great communication with the owner. Such a great place to stay. Would hughly recommend.

Great little spot in Custer

An excellent property. Quiet, clean, and cozy place to stay for our Black Hills adventures. Location was perfect for day trips, and also short walks to restaurants and shops downtown. Owner was friendly and communicative. Recommend!

Wonderful stay

The property was very nice and clean and a great location. There’s plenty of things to do within walking distance and even more a short drive away. I’d def return to this property next time I’m in the area. Our host was very accommodating, the home was very comfortable and plenty of kitchen supplies and a grill if you choose to eat in.

Awesome House!

We enjoyed our 4 day stay very much in Custer! The home was perfect for two sisters who needed a hub to see the sights in the Custer area! We enjoyed the layout as we had living area and a bathroom upstairs and two bedrooms with bath downstairs! It was very convenient to downtown! The home was very clean and comfortable! We had chairs and a table outside to enjoy our coffee in the morning and wine in the evening!! Big plus was having a washer and dryer on site which worked out very well for us!! We would definitely stay here again if in the area! It was perfect for us! Thank you!!

Cute, comfortable, and convenient

The property was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We were close to everything as well, so very convenient! One thing to note for folks with mobility issues is that the bedrooms are downstairs.

Explore the Black Hills

Our group consisted of four adults traveling together. The cabin is clean and centrally located for exploring Mount Rushmore, Rapid City, Crazy Horse, Memorial, and so much more. The living space upstairs is a little tight and could use one more comfortable place to sit. Also, both bedrooms are downstairs with one bathroom up and one down.

Bike rally

The cabin was ckean and more than comfortable. The location couldn't have been better. We were able to get out and do all the rides we wanted to. We were even able to take a short hike in town. We left personal stuff behind, the owners mailed it out when we realized it. I would not suggest to anyone to go to Mt Rushmore Brewery. The atmosphere, wait staff and food was very disappointing. However, Clamity Janes was the perfect breakfast spot. We had a great time in Custer. I'd stay there again if given the chance.

Great Location We had the best time.

Cute little place! Every morning we’d look out the window and see hot air balloons in a crystal blue sky. 100 yrs of Gold Discovery Days, and 50th Custer class reunion. Yep! We’re that old! We walked everywhere with my new hip😂. When sis and I had some confusion checking in, Julie responded immediately! One minor suggestion, a little upgrade on the bedding can make nice difference. Thank-you! We want to return. 💜‼️

Great stay but there are some negatives

Overall, our stay was very nice. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Great location. You can walk to nearby restaurants in Custer. Very clean house. Well stocked pantry (oil, spices, even condiments in the refrigerator) Beds were comfortable. Laundry detergent and dryer sheets were provided. Nice propane gas grill. Cons: Very small living room. The TV felt too big for the space. No space in kitchen cabinets for groceries. Bedrooms were also very small. Water pressure in showers not so great. Shower would not get hot...just warm water.

Clean, Comfortable, Convenient

The Custer Cottage was exactly as described. Very comfortable for two travelers, extremely clean and well kept, and convenient to all the Black Hills have to offer. I gave our stay only three stars and not five for just one reason. The listed price was totally misleading. After the addition of a cleaning fee and Home Away's take and taxes, the price increased significantly. Then came the clincher - a Security Fee. Not a security deposit, a security "fee". That fee alone added significantly to our rate. And, for what, I still do not know. I would have been happy to pay for a refundable security deposit which would have been returned to us since we took excellent care of the cottage. But a "Fee"?? A nice place to stay and we were happy with the accommodation, just shocked and disappointed when the actual nightly cost was almost double the listed price.

We are a family that has hospitality in our blood. I was raised in a family resort setting in Northern Minnesota and fully understand and desire to give a great guest expierinece here in Custer. We fell in love with South Dakota and the Black Hills 8 years ago while on a family road trip. We had stayed on this property and the rest, as they say is history.

We love the convenience that Custer has to offer. We originally vacationed in more remote settings but really loved the proximity to all the must see/must do's the Hills has to offer. On a short stay this location makes more of them possible....oh, and the ability to get items that we forgot at the store etc..
