Our families decided to rent this house because of the pictures on the site and the space we needed. We understand no home is perfectâweâve stayed at many vacation rentals over the yearsâbut this property was far below any reasonable standard, and to make matters worse, the owner was unprofessional and dismissive when we raised concerns.When we arrived, the kitchen had clearly not been cleaned. There were crumbs, sticky food and food pieces left on the stove and counters. The refrigerator had greasy handprints and food smears on counters. We notified the owner, Michael, and decided to clean it ourselves with Lysol wipes, thinking the kitchen it was overlooked.Unfortunately, further inspection revealed worse issues. The hallways had hair, dust balls, and even bugs (roaches). The main bedroom floor had hair, dust balls, and, disturbingly, drips of blood. We also found a live roach in the room. At that point, none of us felt comfortable staying.We requested to talk to him or get a refund, but instead of addressing the issues, the owner sent messages and dismissed our concerns, saying he was ânot our maidâ and accused us of being dramatic. We sent photos to VRBO since he refused to share direct contact information, (we could not upload to the app). We ended up leaving and fortunately found a lovely, clean home nearby. We absolutely do not recommend staying here. Between the uncleanliness and the way we were treated, this was a very upsetting experience.
