Shaver Lake Getaway

This property was beautiful and well stocked! The owner’s communication and help was amazing! We had 8 in our party with 5 of them being young adults. There was a great game room and garage with pool, etc. for them to play. We had a great time and look forward to maybe staying again.

Perfect Cabin

Perfect cabin for the warmth cozy feeling in the mountains during chilly weekend gateway. Quiet, clean and plenty of space for cars. Very close to the main market and marina! Will be back for sure.

Perfect weekend getaway!

The cabin was perfect for our family getaway to celebrate birthday/Father’s Day weekend! Jill was amazing with communicating directions and answering any questions we had during our stay! I definitely recommend for your stay!

Shaver Lake Delight

Stayed here for one night in September. Nice big cabin just off the road going into Shaver Lake. Nice kitchen, cozy family room, wonderful deck. Slept six of us, each in our own bed. Owner Jill was great, making sure we had clear directions to the place and that we got in OK. Great value and a great time.

Had a wonderful time!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Baxter's Mountain Cottage. It had plenty of room for all of us and was very conveniently located close to town, which was very handy. We would love to come back sometime!

Perfect Location

The Baxter Mountian Cottage served as a perfect base camp for our day trips to Shaver Lake, Huntington Lake, Indian Pools, Dinkey Creek and Wishon Resevoir. It’s right off the main road, and within walking distance to town. The cottage has everything you need and more. We especially loved kitchen and the large rear deck. We’ll definitely be back!

Perfect Shaver Lake House

The house was ideally located. Easily accessible to Tollhouse Rd., the town of Shaver Lake, and the lake itself. The house was a perfect combination of quaint mountain cabin and updated amenities. We will definitely return! We loved the large deck, spacious outdoor patio sofa sectional, patio table, Barbq and, of course, the view.

Comfortable cabin in a convenient location

We had a wonderful time spending a couple days at the Baxter Cabin in January. The cabin was clean, spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. The location is very convenient- tucked away from main road, but still very close to town’s restaurants. The cabin sits atop a hill and we were able to go sledding right outside the cabin with plenty of space for snowman building and snowball fights too. Look forward to coming back on our next Shaver Lake vacation.

backyard was a winter wonderland

Beautiful, Clean, Cozy

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It is cute and very clean. When we arrived in the evening the house was nicely lit with the fire going! After having a great stay Jill was nice enough to mail a stuffed animal our daughter accidentally left behind. We will definitely be returning. Thanks for a great weekend getaway.

Birthday Weekend at Baxter Cabin

We celebrated a family birthday at Shaver Lake. The cabin was great for us. Beautiful view of the valley. Close to the lake, well stocked for group cooking and dining, great area for game playing. Jill kept us well informed and was available if we had any questions. We hiked the Lake Shore Trail and stopped for swimming and a picnic lunch which everyone agreed made for the perfect day.

Location, location, location!

Cute cabin in the woods with a great location, just a short walk or drive into town, a minute to the lake. The kitchen is open concept and clean, the living room is comfortable and cozy, the bathrooms small but clean and the bedrooms were restful and well-appointed. Jill was professional and friendly and I found her a great host to work with. The kids didn't need to go to the snow park because they went right outside the door into the amazing sloped yard and played for hours! Win-win! Be advised if you're visiting during snow, their driveway is steep so 4x4 is recommended. We enjoyed our time there and would stay again!

Great place to spend our Thanksgiving

We really enjoyed our stay at the Baxter’s cabin. Our family went for Thanksgiving and the kitchen was a great size to allow for all of us to get together and cook. We had a little mix up with the check in process but the owner was able to clear it up quickly. Our biggest issue was the snow... while it was beautiful and we absolutely enjoyed it... the people who were supposed to plow did not do a very good job. (Note this is not a reflection on Jill) Even with 4 wheel drives and chains it took us 4-5 hours one day to get my parents out of the driveway. Just something to keep in mind if it snows... Other than that I loved the place and would stay again.

My husband is college football coach at Fresno State and founder and creator of Academic Gameplan. I am Sports Law attorney/and CEO of our company Academic Gameplan, which teaches students how to learn. We have two adult daughters The cabin is our place to relax. We bring our horses in the summer, hike, boat, and spend time with all the cabin owners we know in Shaver. In the winter we ski, snowboard, sled, and snow shoe. We currently live in Clovis, CA.

Varför värden valde detta boende

We looked for two years to find a cabin in Shaver. We wanted to buy a cabin not a house built in the mountains. This cabin has 4 bedrooms but was only 1,800 square feet. However, it felt much bigger, why?
This cabin was owned by the McQuaids for thirty years, a ship builder. Mr. McQuaid knew how to use space efficiently and used high quality building materials. It has great pine walls, well built, lots of big windows, 3/4 acre lot , but just needed some clean up. We spent two weeks putting in new flooring, decorating, and clean up. We found great antiques in the garage that now hang on the wall in the reading room. The cabinet in the reading room is the original kitchen cabinet of the cabin. The stone fireplace is made of quartz. The deck is huge and faces the beautiful trees. We can walk to town, the library, and to restaurants. This cabin is one of kind! We have been renting this cabin for years and everyone loves this cabin including us!! So if you rented this cabin from Bill, he retired. The second property management company isn't renting cabins anymore. So we are now renting this by owner. We love that other families enjoy our cabin, too!

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

We remodeled the kitchen, bathroom, and upstairs. The kitchen and bathroom custom cabinets were made out of a shaver tree my husband assisted well known logger Jeff Young hoist out of the bottom of Shaver Lake. The beautiful stone floors were installed by well known mason Dan Young. A beautiful stone shower in the bathroom makes you feel like you are outside. It is the only cabin in shaver with sinker wood custom cabinets. The upstairs bedrooms have all been recently painted and removed all carpet and put in flooring. The Deck is the same size as main level of the cabin. Beautiful View of Trees from every window in the cabin, Close to town, Not close to other cabins, lots of parking, Pine walls, well built, a cabin not a house built in the mountains, Five bedrooms, reading room, living room, large kitchen, separate mud room.
