Cottage 359 is a precious rental for a family looking to visit Sea Island, as well as friends, golf trips, and groups attending weddings or corporate events! This house is a fun blend of an original Sea Island cottage, that was recently partially renovated and decorated. Originally set up as a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom house, there is a huge room at the top of the landing that was converted into a 4th bedroom, with 2 twin beds, allowing for more functional sleeping space for guests. The house is located on the corner of 41st street and Oglethorpe Drive, making it an ideal location if you are attending anything at Ocean Forest. With beach access on 36th street and the drive, the house is 5 blocks from the beach, which you can walk to, bike to, ride golf carts or get dropped off by a car.
Upon entering the main front door, the house opens into a beautiful foyer and great room, that has original parquet floors. The great room has plenty of seating areas, great for conversations and gatherings. With vaulted ceilings, tons of natural light, and a fireplace, this is the heart of the home. The great room includes a glass dining table for 8 people, ideal for meals together at home. This is adjacent to the kitchen, which is a quaint space, that is connected to the bar area via the counter on both sides. The vibrant bar is a nod to the original Sea Island style, and adjacent to a mudroom, where guests can enter straight from the carport.
The main bedroom downstairs is to the left, off the foyer. Down its own hallway, this bedroom provides extra privacy. With the closets lining the hallway on the left, the bathroom is to the right. This completely renovated, vibrant bathroom has a fun island feel. With a subway tile shower, green accent tiles, and a beautiful vanity with lots of counter space for getting ready. This fun bedroom combines vibrant features with a coastal feel, and features a king bed, a patio door that leads to outside and provides lots of natural light, and a dresser. This bedroom is both carpeted and cozy.
The second downstairs bedroom is nearest the staircase. It is quaint and cozy and has two twin beds and sliding patio doors that leads to the screened in patio and pool. The bathroom adjacent to that bedroom has a shower and plenty of space to get ready. Near the den and great room is a small space that can be used as an office if anyone needs a separate work space during their stay.
The first floor is rounded out by the fun and swanky den, complete with a TV, huge sectional, and beautiful bookshelves. This is another great gathering space, or ideal area to watch a show or movie. The den also has sliding doors that lead to the screened in patio and pool. The screened in patio is one of the highlights of the home, providing a great outdoor living space, which is fortunately screened in, providing shade and a reprieve from any bugs. There is a small plunge / therapeutic pool, perfect for a couple of people to cool off, and very ideal for children who want to swim for just a little bit, without having to leave the house. There are chaise lounges, lots of casual seating, as well as a TV—perfect for a swim up movie or separate hangout space for part of the group!
Upstairs, the landing opens into a spacious bedroom. This cozy space has two beautiful twin beds, ottomans, and lots of natural light. This room is adjacent to the master bedroom and is the only bedroom that does not have its own bathroom. (Depending on the preferred set up, whoever stays in this bedroom can either use the master bathroom or the downstairs bathroom nearest the bedroom with the twin beds.) The master bedroom is a spacious suite with a king bed and lots of natural light. The en-suite bathroom was just completely renovated and features a dual vanity with spacious countertops, a fun, coastal wallpaper, and an oversized subway tile shower.
While the home is charming, the highlight of renting here is getting to enjoy Sea Island.
