Aloha. So happy to hear that you had a fabulous time at Makani Akau. It's such a wonderful home with that amazing view. And you are correct, our weather in May was cloudy/wet compared to our usual gorgeous dry May weather. We'd love to have you return in the future.

For all of the years that this home has had vacation rental guests, this is the first time that a guest didn't enjoy their visit. We apologize for that, as we want every guest to have a fabulous vacation. Most of the guests that stay at Makani Akau are return guests that plan their vacation based on when the calendar is open. Although we had plans for new split level A/C to be installed during summer 2021, the pandemic interfered and equipment was not available. We hope that's resolved this fall. Even when we install the new A/C it will be in the ocean facing bedrooms only. This home was designed for indoor/outdoor living and has large sliding wall panels that open both the front and the back of the house to the outdoors. The only way to cool that area would be to keep everything closed, and we don't feel that's what a vacation to Maui is all about. Most of our guests want to enjoy the outdoor environment. The beds are actually quite firm, but we’ve added memory foam toppers as we had requests for softer beds. I wish you would have called, and we could have easily removed the topper. We didn’t get a call during your visit about the toilet, as that’s a very quick/easy fix, and we would have taken care of it immediately. Lamar, in future if something isn’t quite right, be sure to call the property manager of any property that you stay in. Many items can be remedied immediately. Vacation should be a fabulous break from our regular life!
