Maison sans Chevres, vår charmiga Craftsman stil hem har två våningar, båda med stora fönster med utsikt över St. Croix River.

Huvudnivån har en granit bänkskivan kök med rostfria vitvaror som gjorts för att njuta av matlagning och äta, en matsal som rymmer 8-10 personer; en inbjudande salong med en gas spis, fönster med utsikt över floden och en queen size bäddsoffa; en gästtoalett och ett sovrum svit med jacuzzi och separat duschkabin.

Den lägre nivån har en mysig TV-nook med en queen size soffa soffa, en sittgrupp runt en gas spis, ett unikt badrum och ett sovrum med fönster med utsikt över floden.

Den övre nivån går ut på en rymlig, wrap runt däck. Den lägre nivån går ut till en uteplats med en flod stuga känsla. Båda uteplatser har möbler för att njuta av sevärdheter och ljud av floden och för att äta. Det finns en gasgrill på däck.

Eftersom vi lever bara en 10 minuters bilresa bort, kommer vi att vara i huset för att välkomna dig vid din ankomst och vi kommer att vara tillgängliga per telefon om du behöver frågor besvaras eller hjälp under din vistelse.

River House Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday stay at the River House. It offers everything you could ask for in a family vacation - well appointed accommodations, beautiful location, and convenient to parks and points of interest. Great base for exploring the area or just staying home and doing nothing in particular. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay!

What a wonderful place to stay! A gorgeous home so warm and inviting. Christine was a wonderful host meeting us at the property when we checked in. The stay was so relaxing and we will be back to stay here again. This place is a gem! The town was like stepping back in time. A must place to stay.

GF getaway

This is a beautiful house and a beautiful location. We loved sitting on the deck watching the river go by, for our morning coffee. A great spot for a quiet getaway.

Fun Girls’ Weekend

My sister and nieces had a wonderful time at this quaint craftsman on the banks of the St Croix River. Such a lovely house - with a great kitchen and cozy living room with fireplace. And, absolutely amazing views of the river and fall colors. Being able to walk 3 minutes to the heart of Marine was an absolute plus. Such a fun weekend - thanks!

Walkable and right on the river

We had a great stay here to celebrate a milestone birthday. It is a beautiful house with a perfect location right on the river with stunning river views. It’s a 5 min drive to Rustic Root Winery, a 15 min drive to Stillwater and walkable to Marine on St Croix restaurants and shops. Exactly what we needed! Thank you!

Girls’ Getaway

Slice of Heaven on the St. Croix

We initially booked this property because of its proximity to Stillwater. We were met with a sweet surprise of Marine on St. Croix as a small town with safe streets, friendly people and the most beautiful views. This home has all the amenities needed PLUS beautiful scenes of the river, well loved furniture and all the comforts of home. Spacious and accommodating for a group with plenty of indoor and outdoors spaces for games, cards, reading and relaxing.

Charming home on the river

Our family enjoyed this craftsman style well kept home. Beautiful view of the river. We would have enjoyed using deck area if tree debris had been cleaned. However the immaculate and beautifully decorated interior was fantastic.

Pictures don’t do it justice BeautifulCraftsman house beautifully period furnished with much thought in all details. Two cozy fireplaces and a gourmet kitchen. Right on the river. Could not ask for more !!!

Great House!

Super nice, well decorated house on the St Croix river. Like some of the other reviewers stated, the house is much better in person than as depicted in the pictures. Great location with the small downtown a few blocks away and a short drive to Stillwater and Taylors falls. Perfect if you are looking for a quiet getaway. Owner was easy to work with and we have no complaints. Would book again in the future.

Girlfriend Getaway

We were celebrating 10 years of an annual girlfriend getaway that all started with camping. We evolved into renting homes and this was one of our favorites. We loved the cute little town of Marine on St. Croix and the house was perfect. With 6 of us there was plenty of room. The big tables inside and out made it easy for us to play games and have some amazing meals. Thank you to our hosts for a really memorable and pleasant stay.

Adorable home in an adorable town!

My friend from California and I Stayed in this adorable house during a rainy, cool May and it was perfect. Christine was a wonderful hostess. Very informative about the house and "what to do around Marine on St. Croix". House was immaculate and cozy. The kitchen was well equipped. The deck is spacious with a fabulous view. Very comfortable for 2 but could easily accommodate more. we hope to stay again this fall!

Great ambiance, very close to great cross-country skiing and snow shoeing!

6 women escaped the Twin Cities for a weekend of food, friendship and outdoor activities. This home was lovely, with plush, modern bathrooms; a gourmet kitchen. The ambiance by the fireplace upstairs and the view over the river made for warm nights and good conversations. We also enjoyed skiing and snow shoeing at William O'Brien State Park. The trails were perfectly groomed when we started our adventure on Friday, and remained in good shape through our last ski Sunday morning. Plenty of trail options for beginners through advanced skiers. We will definitely come back again!

Wonderful Stay!

Wonderful house and an amazing location! Walking distance to the picturesque town of Marine on St Croix - highly recommended visiting Brooksides and Marine General Store. Short drive to Stillwater with all its bars, restaurants and shops. Reality though, you don’t need to leave the house. Perfect set up for two couples (one takes upstairs, other takes downstairs). Christine and Vincent have thought of everything - loved sitting in the parlor with fireplace going listening to some vintage vinyl on the turntable! Such a peaceful retreat and the pictures don’t do it justice!

Beautiful home, amazing location, great owners!

Our family stayed at this beautiful home and we loved it! The location is ideal being within 2 blocks of the General Store, restaurants, ice cream shop, chocolate shop and coffee shop. We walked to dinner and to shop and our girls were able to ride their scooters. There is so much to do that is within a 10-30 min drive as well. We felt like we were hours away from home on vacation but we were less than an hour away. Christine is so nice to work with and she had some great suggestions for activities for our family. The home had everything we needed and more! We highly recommend this home and can't wait to come back someday!

Great Experience

My family and grandchildren had a wonderful time at Maison sans Chèvres. The owners Christine and Vincent were delightful and met us when we arrived to showed us around as well as shared with us the history of the home. The house was very warm and cozy, and had more than enough rooms and space for five adults and two small children. We woke up each morning to the sound of birds and wild life and sat on the deck which overlooks the Saint Croix River. We took several walks around the quaint town of Marine on Saint Croix and had great food at the local restaurants. As a family we travel a lot and everyone said this was the best place we have ever stayed. We definitely will be back!

Great Weekend at Marine on St Croix

Spent the weekend at the river home with visiting friends. The house is location in a small, neat little town of Marine on St Croix. There are plenty of sightseeing to do in the area as well. The owner greeted me upon arrival and gave me a tour of the house. Its very nice, clean, & the pictures shown on the website doesn't do its justice. She even give us some goat cheese from her farm and a couple bottles of wine to enjoy :) The house is outfitted with everything that you would need and we definitely took advantage of the grill on the deck over seeing the river. I really wish we could have stayed for more than just a weekend.

Perfect weekend getaway

Our (2 couples) stay at this home was absolutely perfect. Every detail of this home was meticulous. Christine is a wonderful hostess and made certain that we had everything we needed and that we enjoyed our time there. The view of the Fall colors from the deck down to the river was breathtaking and the proximity to town was so convenient. We were able to walk into the charming village, yet it was also a very private setting. It felt secluded and connected to many area attractions at the same time. It was so beautiful and we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay there. 5 stars is not a high enough rating. Thank you Christine!

COLLEGE REUNION

Seven old college roommates stayed at this beautiful home and it was just perfect. All we wanted to do was to have some peacefulness and sit and catch up after 40 years and that is exactly what we got. The website pictures don't even come close to showing how beautiful and comfortable this house truly is. The kitchen was big enough for all 7 of us to be in there at the same time cooking - it was stocked well and the owner even donated some cheese and wine which we thoroughly enjoyed. Christine was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend this property.

We have been farming in the St. Croix Valley for over 40 years. If you know anything about farming, you know that there is no 'getting away from work'. You're there 24/7, with all the joys and worries that brings. We never had a vacation home until we bought this river house in 2012. We purchased it with the intent of allowing us a perfect way to 'get away'. It only takes us 10 minutes to drive there from our farm, allowing us
to get away frequently and easily. You may be curious about the name 'Maison sans Chèvres'. Our farm is a large, commercial Grade A dairy goat farm. The river house is our 'home without goats.' We've stated the name in French to honor the river's name and the French voyageurs who explored it.

In the 50 years we've lived in this area, we've come to love the St. Croix River and the very unique town of Marine on St. Croix. When we were lucky enough to be able to get this architectural gem of a house - not only on the river but also in the village of Marine on St. Croix - we were thrilled. It is the perfect vacation home for us. As we're not able to use it full time, we enjoy sharing it with others.

The Maison sans Chèvres is a peaceful, warm, welcoming house. It has an incredible amount of character. Being right on the river allows for a unique connection to nature and the river towns north and south of us.

Marine on St. Croix is a historic town whose residents take a great deal of pride in their history, their natural surroundings, and the creative energy of people. There are numerous cultural events that occur here throughout the year: concerts in the historic Marine Village Hall, art fairs and exhibitions - from Fourth of July celebrations to a sometimes Christmas Market, taking enjoyment from life is an ongoing theme here.

Being in this warm, small town setting but still so close to busier life in the larger towns nearby and even close to the Twin Cities (St. Paul is only a 35 minute easy drive away), gives visitors an opportunity to experience a range of Minnesota life.

As for the house itself, remodeling, updating and furnishing this house was a labor of love for us. We think the results of our efforts reflect our appreciation for quality and for history.
