Tranquil 2-bedroom cabin, majestic view of Pikes Peak with free range Buffalo.
The Buffalo Cabin is a modern blend of Southwest and Scandinavian style with wood and tile throughout. It consists of two bedrooms with queen beds, and a superior quality sofa bed (full) located in the Great Room. The cabin has both mini-split heat/AC climate controls and gas heating for maximum performance and efficiency. The cabin offers Starlink Internet, a fully functional kitchen and beautiful bathroom for your comfort. This is fully off grid, with solar, septic and a well, being intentionally designed. The cabin's water is sourced from our private well and filtered with a two level filtration system. We have exceptional flow rate of water, so take as long and as hot of showers as you please.
The cabin sits on 5.5 acres within an undisturbed 40 million year old cactus covered volcanic area that has been deemed an ancient Vision Quest site by a renowned state archeologist. Paleolithic and modern tribes utilized the area for hunting, stone sourcing and spiritually Shamanic purposes. The cabin directly faces Sun Mountain (Pikes Peak) 25 miles to the East, the most sacred mountain of the Ute Tribe and sits along Highway 9, a primitive road used by native peoples for tens of thousands of years. This is an area explored by the Spanish in the 1700's, in which the local towns Canon City, Salida and Buena Vista have reflective names. The cabin sits between two area deemed Dark Skies. Browns Canyon and Florissant Fossil Beds. For stargazers, witness the dark sky, meteor events and beaming Milky Way, as nature intended.
The cabin is located under two hours drive from Denver and one hour from Colorado Springs. The famous gold medal trout fishing Dream Stream on the South Platte River is only 6 miles away with 3 major reservoirs Spinney, Eleven Mile and Antero in town for boating and fishing activities. The Cabin sits on the edge of the Pike National Forest, which offers exceptional hunting opportunities.
Mt. Princeton, Cottonwood and Charlotte Hot springs is located in the town of Buena Vista only 40 mins away. World class mountain biking in Salida is 50 mins away, with the famous Monarch Ski Mountain close by. The Royal Gorge in Canon City is 45 mins down the road with another hot springs in Penrose nearby. The Arkansas river running through these towns offers world class white water rafting and water sports. Motorsports, mineral hunting and observing wildlife are popular activities within the area.
World class skiing in Breckenridge is just over the hill 50 mins away, with the South Park inspired town of FairPlay only 25 mins down Hwy 9.
The famous Paradise Cove swimming rock formation is located in Guffey, where you can take a dip within an ancient waterfall and dramatic natural scenery.
The Florissant Fossil Beds are a town over, with the Great Sand Dunes National Park only 2 hours away.

Hi! I live on the Front Range Colorado and I built this cabin myself. It was a remodel of a small unpermitted cabin and is now a fully permitted and licensed house. It was a difficult challenge to complete, as I spent essentially every weekend on site for two years. I hope you enjoy my passion project and that you find it comfortable and relaxing. It is a special place to me and I can now say I have many friends in the Hartsel area who offered me great support in helping make what you see a reality. Thank you! Eric
Varför vÀrden valde detta boende
The neighborhood where the cabin sits is special because it is the only area I know where you can have a property within public land that has Buffalo roaming without fences. The cabin also sits on what is likely the most majestic view of Pikes Peak. There are many other great views in the area, but the cabins view is truly exceptional. Also. I am a part of ghe archeology community in the area, and the cabin sits on land where the evidence of ancient human occupation is literally beneath your feet.
Vad som gör detta boende unikt
