Beläget på den soliga västra sidan av San Juan Island, med fantastiska valskådning möjligheter, erbjuder detta privata, vattnet hem en fantastisk semester logi.

Byggd unikt nära strandlinjen, är Waterhouse en mycket avskild ö hem vars vackra sydvästra utsikt över de olympiska bergen och Juan de Fucasundet är hisnande under alla årstider. Belägen på tre hektar med 1400 meter robust, orörda kustlinje, ger hemmet mycket eftersökta "gamla ö" privatliv. Njut av en främre raden syn på den bofasta Orca valar, vilket jakten migrerar laxen direkt offshore och ofta sova i viken.

Custom byggd med mycket uppmärksamhet till kreativa detaljer, njuta av en vacker sten spis (gaslåga nyligen installerat) när atmosfär och värme är inspirationen. Det fullt utrustade köket finns en professionell Viking spis, en stor inbjudan till den allvarliga kocken. En rostfri propan BBQ på däck gör matlagning utomhus en bris.

Flera franska dörrar, ett välvt tak och en öppen livsrum planlösning omgiven av fönster ger anpassad komfort och spektakulär utsikt över vattnet från alla rum.

Det finns mycket att göra med de klippiga vikar och en privat grusstrand att utforska. Tide pooling är utmärkt. Ta med kikare eftersom fågelskådning är superb, med inhemska Harlequin ankor och den lokala Bald Eagle 'Rocky'. Titta räv, utter och rådjur i närheten, eller packa dina favoritdrycker, en bra bok och koppla av på en sandig oas direkt framför huset. Två väl inredda däck med uteservering, picknickbord och Adirondack stolar vinkar också. Små strand bränder är tillåtna om ett eldningsförbud inte verkställas på ön. Bäst av allt är valskådning eftersom denna sträcka av stranden har identifierats av en Whale Museum biolog som utfodringsområde för Orcas. Titta på valar passerar från däck som deras familjegrupper kommer inom några meter från stranden, jakt lax.

heaven!!!

this was truly the most relaxing vacation i have ever been on and it was all due to this rental. the location is secluded and private without being too remote or rough to get to - not to mention absolutely breathtaking. the host was exceptionally informative. we were even met at the airport and led to the house. this was especially nice as it was night time and the island was pitch black! the whole stay was cozy perfection. can't wait to return. :)

Amazing Waterhouse

Truly an amazing property with one of a kind views from every room inside the house and out. We saw Orcas and dolphins and seals and eagles while spending a relaxing week gazing at the sea. A very memorable experience.

comfortable home with gorgeous views

We had a very relaxing few days enjoying this home. It was comfortable and well appointed, and a close ride to town, restaurants, hiking trails, etc. That said, we had a hard time tearing ourselves away from the relaxing deck, and ever changing views of the Haro Strait, Victoria, the Olympics. We also enjoyed seeing all the wild life that hang around - eagles, foxes, deer, sea lions, etc. Hope to get back to this special place!

The most amazing view

The views are absolutely stunning. We saw deer, fox, otter, seals, sea lions, and eagles. We didn’t see the whales, but if they would have come by it would have been an amazing viewpoint. The water is stunning. The home is very private. The only thing that could improve the experience would be contactless check in.

Remote and stunning location

If you are looking for a remote getaway with a gorgeous ocean view, the Waterhouse is for you. It's 6 miles from Friday Harbor followed by a 1-mile drive to the end of a windy, narrow dirt road. The house is on a bluff with stunning ocean views west. We spent every morning and evening sitting out on a patio, just relaxing with that view. The property is a few minutes' drive from the American Camp National Historic Park, which has several beautiful hikes along the bluffs or through the woods.

Amazing! We have watched this property for years and finally found an opening. It does not disappoint, and even after watching and building up our expectations, it exceeds. The furniture is a little tired and the bathroom set up takes a bit of getting used too, but the host and the property rank as the best place we have rented on VRBO to date.

Butterfly Brigade in Paradise

Myself, my mother and aunts, amateur naturalists all, came to San Juan Island to find the critically endangered Island Marble butterfly. We found it and so much more! This beautiful, well maintained, gorgeous property was everything we had hoped for with sea life, birds and endless vistas. Suzanne, our host, was the perfect blend of available and unobtrusive. Can’t say anything better than anyone else, but the property has views for days and days. We found ourselves staying IN rather than checking out the island just to make sure we didn’t miss any whales…we saw tons. The host was very accommodating regarding a feather allergy too. Note for guests, the bathrooms have “open air” openings to the rest of the house, so bio functions are a bit on audible/olfactory display but no one seemed to mind! Oh and the “primary” toilet is a round bowl, but don’t dismay, the hall has an elongated one! We will be staying again I’m sure

Wild Kingdom!

We had such a relaxing time! We were on island for 6 days and never turned the TV on once. Each read 3 books, played Cribbage, and drank wine. We stared at the ocean A LOT. We saw harbor porpoise, sea lions, harbor seals, river otters, fox, deer, and bald eagles. We saw a seal catch and eat an HUGE octopus—impressive struggle! We never saw any orcas, which is wild since apparently a super pod of 72 — record setting!! — gathered ON my birthday but never swam by. Ruuuude. We hiked nearly every morning and the house is pretty much central to everything. Some days were rainy but we were super cozy in the house. We would love to come back in the fall and see more stormy weather as the wave action was quite impressive on the few windy days. What a prime piece of property!!

What a gem!

Our stay at Suzanne’s place was beyond what we had hoped for. Waking up to the water overlooking the Olympic Mountains was just magical. The sunsets and even one strawberry-moonset on the horizon were phenomenal. On two occasions, we were lucky enough to see orcas swim by! On our trips to town, we were almost always greeted by fox who resided in the nature preserve close by. A great way to start the day! Our family enjoyed eating outside on the deck, surrounded by natural beauty. Suzanne was a most gracious host. She communicated with us whenever we had a question, even offering suggestions of places and restaurants to visit. Our family hopes to return to this gem/jewel box of a place sooner than later!

A beautiful week

We loved our time at the Waterhouse. Incredibly beautiful setting, and a house that really lets the nature all around shine with all the big windows and the location right on the water. We loved watching the otters and sea birds playing from the window.

Blissful beauty

San Juan Waterhouse was everything we hoped for. The location is secluded but still very convenient for touring the island and getting to towns for food. We enjoyed magnificent views and were able to relax. Also saw otters and birds from the deck. Suzanne was welcoming and provided clear directions as well as a great personal introduction to the home. Highly recommended!!
