Handsome Dan's på Otter Point (husdjursvänligt)

Vårt hus vid Otter Point ligger cirka 7 km väster om Sooke på Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Beläget, cirka 45 minuters bilresa från Victoria, och några minuters bilresa till många vackra vandringar i västkustens regnskog, perfekt för människor som gillar att utforska båda världen.

Vår traditionella (3 sovrum + loft) timmerhus kan rymma 8 personer bekvämt. Det har ett fullt utrustat kök med gasspis, kabel, platt-TV, DVD-spelare och badrum med badkar, dusch och tvättmöjligheter. Den 17 fot höga stenpisen samlar vänner och familj runt för minnesvärda mysiga kvällar. Utanför hittar du ett stort däck med badtunna, propan-grill, bord och stolar och bara några minuters promenad till stranden.

Alla verktyg, ved och gratis samtal var som helst i Kanada och USA ingår.

På övervåningen: 1 dubbelsäng i masterrum / 1 dubbelsäng i 2: a sovrummet / 1 dubbel storlek futon på loftet / 1 ottoman som öppnar som en enkelsäng

Nedervåningen: 1 enkelsäng i det tredje sovrummet.

Sooke erbjuder också, fiske, valsafari, kajakpaddling, vandring, badstrand och fin mat vid Sooke Harbour House och Point No Point

Vad är i närheten av: Bara 4-5 minuters promenad till stranden. 1 km tar dig till en lokal närbutik och liten middag. French Beach (10 min bilresa från huset) har en trevlig lekplats med picknickbord och direkt tillgång till stranden, 10 min längre västerut (20 min bilresa från huset), tar dig till Jordan River, perfekt för surfing. Om du fortsätter att köra ytterligare 5-10 min västerut och du kommer att vara vid Kinas strand / Mystic Beach (30 min bilresa från huset) har det både campingsområdet / stranden och vandringsledsområdet som är en av mina favoriter om ( 40 min vandring i den vackra västkusten regnskog) och du hamnar på stranden med underbart vattenfall. Ytterligare 15 minuters bilresa längre västerut kommer att vara Sombrio Beach (45 min bilresa från huset) också surfing- och vandringsleder och slutligen 1 timmars bilresa kommer du att få samhället i Port Renfrew känd för sin berömda West Coast Trial, botaniska stranden känd för tidvattenpool vid lågvatten och stormvakta på vintern och Avatar grove (Kanadas största gnarliest träd).

Perfect for a Moms getaway

The check in was super welcoming and they had a fire going in the fireplace for us on arrival. The place was very clean, and stocked with anything and everything we needed. It’s a beautiful property with gorgeous ocean views. Lots of natural light and surprisingly quiet given that it’s on the main road. I will definitely return.

Otterpoint does not disappoint

We love Sooke and Otterpoint. The House is amazing and had all the ammenities. I love to cook for my family where ever we go so appreciated the fully stocked kitchen tools and gas oven! The fireplace was an added luxury.

Perfectly quiet and relaxing

We had an amazing time, the hottub was great. The fire pit and fire place were relaxing and the host was great at answering any of our questions. This was the perfect place to catch up with some friends I hadn't seen in a long time.

New Year’s visit with 4 adults and 2 kids

A great cabin with everything you need for a comfortable stay with a family. Getting in and out of the driveway with the car can be a bit challenging but otherwise a perfect stay. The house is well stocked and the hot tub was great. Clean and easy to check in

Cozy comfort… just what we needed

My wife, daughter and I (and beagle) had a fantastic getaway experience in Sooke. Log house was comfortable with great amenities and location. Loved the hot tub and fire pit at night. Thumbs up!

Beautiful Cozy Cabin on the Coast

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Handsome Dan’s at Otter Point over New Years weekend. The location was perfect for day trips exploring the west coast. The cabin was very comfortable, well-appointed and just plain gorgeous. We had everything we needed to prepare meals in the large kitchen and greatly enjoyed the hot tub. It was an extra bonus that it’s a pet-friendly rental and our pup felt right at home!

Great rustic cabin!

My husband Steve, cousin Theona and her hubby, Milton and our two small dogs stayed at this lovely log cabin last week. We had a wonderful time. The cabin was very well equipped with everything you need in your kitchen. There was lots of room inside and the hot tube was a bonus. We would definitely go back again. Thank you France and Dan👍😁

So beautiful

What a special space. Gorgeous property, beautiful interior, great fire. Lights around the stairs were a magical touch :) Only issue was it was raining a lot and there’s no covered area to keep towels or other things dry on the hot tub deck… but we made do!

Excellent

France and Dan were very easy to cope with. They gave us a warm welcome. The house was very clean. We enjoyed the hot tub and the " viewing point" outside. The surroundings were great. A special highlight was seeing a bear with it's baby in Port Renfrew.

It’s ok

As log cabins go, this one is ok, a bit tired in parts, 2 broken recliners in the lounge, work tops in kitchen need updating and we weren’t fans of the spiral staircase and the bedroom doors, but, overall it’s ok

We wanted to show our French exchange student a little slice of Canada. This property exceeded our expectations. We arrived to a warm glow up a magical staircase. Hands down best cabin ever

This property had all what we needed, I wish I knew there was a waffle maker. It had probably more cooking utensils then other properties I have stayed and were in good shape, my only regret was not staying a extra day. Communication with Dan was great , my dogs were comfy and slept infront of the fireplace .

Nice rustic cabin

This is a very well kept property and very nice overall. Just a couple of things that I missed in the listing when I made my reservation that I wanted to mention. First, no dishwasher. Definitely not a show-stopper, but I've gotten used to having one. Second, the master sleeping accommodations are in the loft and the bath is on the main level. This was also not a show-stopper, but I'm getting older and have to make more than one trip during the night and that meant a trip up and down the stairs. Might be a problem for someone with limited mobility. All in all, the hosts were excellent and the property is lovely. I would stay here again.

Rustic with modern conveniences

A genuine log home experience with well appointed modern kitchen and bath. Very clean throughout, great communication with owners. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the wood burning fireplace.

France (aka The French Girl) är värd

About twenty years ago when I was still living on the farm in Saskatchewan I suggested to my Dad that we should turn our farm into a vacation farm. He liked the idea but unfortunately due to change of life events that never happened. A few years later, I found myself living here on Vancouver Island, but operating a small vacation rental business stayed on my radar.
A few years after arriving on the Island I met this charming little French Girl. I turned my available charm into high gear and eventually convinced her that I was a prime candidate to become her main squeeze.
Two years after we bought a log house on an acre, 7 km west of Sooke. The place needed a lot of work inside and out. Since the summer of 2004 when we moved much of our spare time and money has gone into repair and rebuild. We are both self-employed so it has not always been an easy nut to crack. But each of us had the same vision of eventually turning our home into vacation guest home.??
After many years of talking and preparing us into buying their home and us dreaming of the day it would happen, it was Christmas Eve day (24 Dec) 2011 that our neighbor Angelo & Frances finally announce us they were ready to sell. We then sold some land I had committed myself to sell to make this dream of us come true.
We officially started to rent July 2013. We named it Handsome Dan’s at otter Point. Handsome Dan is the French Girl’s pet name for me. France, but known by almost everyone as The French Girl is an accomplished artist and skilled craftsperson. She’ll not admit that though. You will see the unique work she does with concrete when you stay with us at our log home or our cottage in Port Renfrew. Her oil paintings of Handsome Dan hang proudly on the high walls of our home too. Like me the French Girl grew up in a small farming community. She is from North Central Quebec; an authentic Quebecois.

Varför värden valde detta boende

When we purchase our neighbor's house, many people asked us why we choose to move out the Log home and not rent the other house instead. The answer is simple, after all the years living in it, and preparing it for the day it would become a vacation rental, we both agreed that the log home has much more character & charm and wanted to share it's rustic coziness with many people from all over the world.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

When Dan and I decided to purchase this house, we new that a lot of work would be needed to put this place ship shape. Being a home owner, we were able to express our artistic ability. We love this house as it is our creation, everything we made ourself, from the 17'foot stone fireplace (each stone was handmade and individually painted by me) along with the kitchen and the spiral staircase (this one our friend Didier made for us). We gave our heart, our time and our money to make it what it is today and plan to make many more beautiful water and garden features in the years to come on the one acre of land this house is sitting on.
