This beautiful apartment on a pedestrian street in the heart of the historic district of Athens is better than any hotel you could book. My family (my husband and I, and our two young boys) have stayed here multiple times and will be going back again this summer. The apartment is quiet, clean, and modern, with new furnishings and a complete kitchen. AC and two bathrooms is a big plus. You don't need a car; you can walk to the Acropolis, the major museums, Plaka, and more than one Metro station easily, even with children. The area is completely safe and well populated, without feeling too touristy. The closest Metro station is less than a 5 minute walk from the apartment down a main pedestrian street, with a direct line (no change needed) to Piraeus, making travel to the port to take a ferry extremely easy. In the evenings, the pedestrian street in front of the apartment comes alive with locals and tourists, vendors, and many cafes and tavernas (outdoor restaurants), and the view of the Acropolis from the terrace is a highlight, as it is lit up at night for gorgeous views. Be sure to take a right out of the apartment to explore a large park with expansive views of the city--it is literally half a block from the property, but not very well known to tourists and easy to miss! One of the best restaurants in the city, Filistron, is on the same block as the apartment (reserve early, they get booked!). You really can't go wrong with this booking.
