Cousins Cottage är en bedårande 3 sovrum stuga belägen vid sjön. Det är gångavstånd till Main Street, mataffären, restaurangerna och parkerna. Manteno är en liten gemenskap av bra människor. Det finns många klubbar och aktiviteter som drivs av frivilliga i vår by. Våra rötter är av indisk början. Namnet Manteno är vinklad från den indiska jungfrun Manteneau, som en gång bodde här. Samlare av pilspetsar har hittat många reliker i fälten för lokala jordbrukare. Människor i Manteno älskar vårt samhälle med dess vackra parker och småstadskänsla. Det finns bara fyra gatuljus i hela staden. Vi är nära Bourbonnais, Bradley och Kankakee i söder och Peotone i norr. Chicago ligger bara 45 minuters bilresa härifrån till Magnificent Mile.

Wonderful weekend

In town for ONU graduation and it was a perfect retreat with all of the busyness of the weekend. The banana bread was a thoughtful added touch of ‘welcome.’

Clean & peaceful

Quaint property in a small peaceful town. Property was clean and the listing description was accurate. View of the lake in the backyard was very peaceful and soothing. And less than an hour away from the big city. Definitely will rent again the next time we are up this way!

Kayaking Vacation

This charming little cottage on the lake makes a great home base for all the wonderful activities and towns around Manteno. It is also a great place to hang out with great fishing and a lovely fire pit with a beautiful view of the lake. This is our 3rd summer staying here and it always feels like home thanks to Rondy and Annette!

Great Grandmas 95 Birthday

It was perfect place to catch up with my mother and sister from Florida. The place was very clean and had that at home comfortable feel. Would love to book it again next year.

Second stay was even better than the first!

We had a great time during our stay! The property was clean and well stocked. Everything we needed was available. Fishing right in the backyard was a blast and my children loved it. This is the second time we have stayed here, and would absolutely stay again.

“The Fish House”

We had a great time during our stay! Even though a lot of our time was spent at the festival, while we were home we had every amenity we needed. My daughters loved fishing the lake, and even still ask about the “Fish House” I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Manteno.

Beautiful, quiet fishing

The weekend was perfect. We were able to have a nice fire the first night, the fish were biting, and the house was a perfect size for everyone to have their own space but also be comfy together. Thank you again!

Attention to detail

Attention the detail was immaculate. They truly go above and beyond from fishing poles and lawn chairs to Band-Aids and aspirin to curling irons and blow dryers. we were even greeted with a welcome card and a homemade banana nut bread on the counter. Just amazing. There’s a restaurant called Mayberry’s, this is like living in a Norman Rockwell painting.They truly thought of everything…

Perfect for Family Time!

Instead of staying at hotel, we opted to stay a VRBO. The Cousin's Cottage was perfect for our family. We could still participate in the Family Weekend HOCO events at Olivet but then spend our evenings together, around a table, playing games and relaxing, grilling out. We took advantage of a nice morning, sitting by the lake drinking our coffee. It was very enjoyable. There were plenty of beds for all our family members and we all got a good nights sleep!

Annual Mom/ Daughter Girls Trip

We were absolutely happy from coming in the front door and being greeted by lots of natural sunlight and delicious banana bread! We enjoyed the well maintained stone fire pit which was perfect for s'mores and stories. The place was perfect for our annual trip with my daughters to be able to do some painting and relaxing on a beautiful piece of property. I enjoyed some alone time out on the patio relaxing with a cup of coffee and looking at the serene lake. Great place! Clean, homey, and spacious.

Just what we needed

We needed a place for my family and friends to attend my mom's funeral. I can't imagine a more cozy and comfortable place to decompress as needed, or to celebrate as desired. The Christmas decorations were a big surprise and everyone was impressed with the thoughtfulness. It was our friends' first visit to Manteno and they loved it. The convenient walk to downtown allowed them to soak in more of the local flavor than if we stayed in a hotel. We highly recommend a stay!

Perfect getaway!

Just spent a lovely weekend there with a friend and our daughters. I can't stress how wonderful this property was to stay at. It felt like we were visiting family. From the moment we walked in to to a loaf of delicious banana bread waiting on the counter with a wonderful note, to the comfort of every area in the house - it was a 10/10! Everything we wanted! We'll be back!!!

We had such a wonderful time! The backyard was spacious with a great view of the lake. We caught too many fish to count and used both boats almost daily. The kids were so excited to catch their own fish!! We loved having the large table and chairs in the backyard when we wanted to grill out, as well as when we just wanted to relax and read a book or simply enjoy the view of the lake. Annette was very nice and responsive. We cannot wait to come back next year! Loved our visit!!

Family Getaway on the Lake

Great cottage for our family visits when in the area. The cottage is quaint, with modern appliances, laundry and open common areas for people to spread out, enjoy meals, relax, play board games or just read. It's a quick, easy walk to shops, restaurants and bars if needed or to the local grain elevator if you've never seen one up close, which ours boys hadn't, haha!. Easy, two-minute drive to Highway 57. A late November visit was not the right time to truly enjoy the large backyard, patio, BBQ or the lake (brrr!), but perhaps in the future in a warmer month! Our hosts were fantastic, great communication. We will stay again - a far better choice than a hotel for a family of five!

Relaxing Getaway

Our stay was beyond our expectations! We were in town for a race event and it was the perfect getaway after a long day of racing. It’s tucked away in this peaceful, gorgeous town. We instantly fell in love with the property and town. The hosts were so kind they left us some homemade banana bread and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom and bedrooms were spacious. The entire house felt so inviting. It felt like we never left home! The backyard has plenty of seating and the views were beautiful. We loved our stay so much I already have plans to book this when we come back next year for our race. I was able to check the downtown portion out and it is so family friendly and feels like you’re in a hallmark movie. Thank you Annette for everything☺️

We have lived in Manteno all of our lives. Annette grew up on Lakeview Drive and knows the area and the lake very well. She spent her summers as a lifeguard when she was in high school. Rondy worked at his dad's gas station on Main Street. in fact, Rondy and Annette met at the gas station when she was 16 and he was 19. She pulled in to the pump to get gas for the first time after getting her driver's license. Rondy was working that day! There was an instant attraction between them. They broke up with the people they were going with and started dating. The rest is history!

Varför värden valde detta boende

Cousins Cottage is named for Annette's cousins who also lived on the lake at 71 W 5th. The cousins used to play in the backyard together. When their family moved to the other side of town the house was sold. Forty years later, when the house went up for sale, Rondy and Annette decided to purchase it and have been renting it out since.

Fishing is fun on Lake Manteno. Paddleboats are even more fun! You will enjoy the beauty of nature and all the wildllife you'll see. We have ducks, geese, turtles, frogs, lots of fish, many different kinds of birds including heron and hawks. Rabbits and squirrels love it here too!
