En av de äldsta adobe hem i den charmiga landsbyn Arroyo Seco, håller Sofia historia i regionen som hennes namne gjorde. På Ski Valley Road, en kort promenad till byn butiker, gallerier och fina ställen att äta, en 15-minuters bilresa till den världsberömda Taos Ski Valley och en 15-minuters bilresa till staden Taos. Lantlig miljö med hästar hela vägen och bufflar betar i närheten på Pueblo mark.

Casa Sofia har alla moderna bekvämligheter i ett hem och är inrett med en mångkulturell mix av konst och hantverk från sydväst. Had a great time staying here with friends for a ski trip! Very cozy with great views of the mountains from the roof. Convenient location for driving/shuttling to the ski valley.

Location, location, location

We loved being so close to Arryo Seco. The style of the casita was perfect. The turn in and out of the property can be a bit tricky. Great location for skiers and non-skiers all in the same group.

Close to skiing as well as Taos. Enjoyed having a beer at Abes in arroyo seco. Beautiful scenery,saw wild horses actoss the street asceell as deer.

Spring Break Ski Trip

Stayed for a week for spring break with the kids and dogs. House was securely fenced in for the front and back for the dogs, can open gate to combine the two. The house was nicer than the photos appear, very bright with all the natural light. Location was walking distance to the little shops in Arroyo Seco and 15 min drive to TSV. Would definitely stay again!

Ski and plaza

Loved this location for our annual ski trip. Halfway between Taos plaza and TSV was perfect for our family as we like to spend time at both. House was very comfortable and we really enjoyed the rooftop views and the use of the hot tub after our ski days. Good communication from the owner. I hope this is available our return trip as it checked all the boxes of what we look for in a vacation rental.

very enjoyable stay

We needed to find somewhere to stay near Valdez for a wedding and this location was perfect, an easy 10 minute drive. The house was clean and comfortable but the best part was the rooftop deck where we were able to see amazing night skies, a real treat. There are three bedrooms but one is a room with a bed that could only be accessed through the other bedroom so that was a bit of a challenge, also the primary bedroom did not have a dresser or shelves to put our clothes, minor problems however. Thank you for a nice stay!!

Like coming home again

Casa Sofia is clean, comfortable, well- stocked, and welcoming. It was our third time staying here. So you know we love it! Arroyo Seco is quiet yet interesting, with some good restaurants close by. The views, the roof, the birds… all terrific! The library of interesting books a real plus!

Taos Ski Trip

Casa Sophia was a great place to stage our ski trip to Taos Ski Valley, just a short drive away. The online pictures do not do justice to all that Casa Sophia has to offer. Just a great place in a great location!

Another pleasant stay

Taos Ski Trip

Recently stayed at Casa Sofia and thought the property was great. Conveniently located between in Arroyo Seco between Taos Ski Valley and Taos, which makes commuting an ease. Property easily accommodate all guests and the rooftop was a great spot to spend mornings and evenings. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Absolutely beautiful home or views

We had such a lovely time at this little getaway. It is in a great location for a quiet foray into northern New Mexico. The house was excellently appointed with anything that you might've forgotten--even a stick of butter and hand sanitizer. Thank you! We LOVED IT!

Cant wait to be back

The House is well maintained and beautiful. Very quiet area with great mountain views from the roof/deck. Location is excellent for getting around the area for hiking, tourist attractions, dining or whatever you would like to do. We are already planning out next venture to the area.

A second stay in CASA Sofia

We love this house. It’s attractive, comfortable, roomy. The roof is great for seeing the Milky Way at night, and for views of the ever- changing mountains. Great selection of books, great TV reception. We were a little surprised that the management/ owner did not reach out to us at all, so it was impersonal. We did not initiate contact because we had no problems.

Nice place right in Arroyo Seco

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Sofia -- the living room is spacious, bedrooms are nice, kitchen certainly adequate. Beds are very comfortable. The rooftop deck would be great on a starry night. Our only complaint is that it is not clear from the listing the house only has one shower -- the master bed and bath has a big tub, but there is no shower in that bathroom.

A dream led us to Casa Sophia.
It was the winter of 1997. We’d retreated from the constant hum of city life to the home of generous friends out on Taos Mesa. Our first night, silent snow began falling as I sat by a cozy kiva fire reading Pumpkin Seed Point, a book by the Southwest author Frank Waters. I read it straight through. It’s Frank’s tale of his three-year stay on the Hopi mesa studying the ancient cosmology of the Hopi.
Mind-altered, I fell asleep and dreamed of a library room where people stood in conversation, including a slender man I took to be Frank and his fourth wife Barbara, a Jungian psychotherapist with big, blonde hair. I could see through Frank to the bookshelves behind him, and I imagined that he was both there and not there.
In the morning I found the Waters’ number in the Taos phone book and stammered to the person who answered that I’d been reading Frank’s book in the night and wondered if I might thank him for it. She thanked me for the thought and said that Frank had died in 1995. Might she be Barbara? Yes, she was.
“Are you a Jungian psychotherapist by any chance?” I asked her.
“Yes I am,” she answered with perfect grace.
“Do you happen to have blonde hair?”
“Yes I do!”
“I’ve been dreaming about you and Frank all night!” I told her, not quite believing any of this.
“I think you’d better come up here so we can meet!” she said, believing all of it. “Come up as soon as the snow melts a little.”
And so we did. We were met by a Barbara and a committee of her dogs at the door of their historic adobe across the road from Pueblo land. “I think you’re supposed to live here,” Barbara said, “and there’s a house for sale around the corner.”
And so we bought the house, naming it for the original owner Sofia, who finished raising her ten children on her own after her husband froze with his sheep one sub-zero winter in Idaho.
