Vårt sjöhus, 3200 kvadratmeter bostadsyta, har tre sovrum i bottenvåningen och en öppen planlösning på andra våningen som har 4 enkelsängar och en king size-säng med ett badrum. Detta är ett perfekt hus för en familj med tonåringar eller en grupp män och / eller kvinnor som vill njuta av allt fiske, jakt, fågelskådning osv som Old Settlement har att erbjuda. Det är gångavstånd till Chapel of the Holy Spirit - så det skulle vara ett bra ställe för en reträtt. Detta hus har trappsteg, så det är inte tillgängligt för rullstolar. Beläget nära en offentlig brygga för fiske, bad eller fiskeguider hämtar dig. Vi ligger 20 mil från sjön Charles.

Louisiana Getaway

This Old Settlement Home was a great getaway for my kids and grandkids. The views were beautiful from the porch and the pier. The home was very comfortable with plenty of space for more than one family. The owners stocked this rental with everything you need for a good time on the water. One of the best homes we have stayed in.

Fine place to stay

Probably the best equipped place we’ve ever stayed at. Hosts checked on us several times via text and when I texted they responded immediately. Very nice home and furnishings. Again very well equipped and very comfortable. The only thing that wasn’t there was a dining table indoors. There was a table for 4 on the front porch that worked well for our group. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay if you want to relax. I give it 5 stars because the site won’t let me give it 10 stars.

The Settlement-Annual Family Easter Event

Everything that we needed, and everything that owner provided, made for a very special Easter for our family. Warm Cookies and cold milk awaited our arrival from owner. Their residence offered all the amenities needed and was set in an spectacular position (facing the water); certainly not a fishing-camp atmosphere. However, we did know several of local guides that put us onto sufficient fish in the immediate body of water to feed (plus some)12 guests. We will definitely book at another time of year; looking forward to a Fall trip when we can invite some close friends in our network (Houston) who would greatly appreciate the owner's offering. Note: small Episcopal church located in walking distance from the owner's location that is available to worship from Easter to Labor Day.

Place of Respite

We were in Lake Charles for a family funeral and wanted a place where we could stay together as a family. Mary and Brian's place provided that and so much more. This home gave us a place to relax in beautiful surroundings. We loved it from the time we drove in! A beautiful porch with amazing water views. A woodburning fireplace that we used every night and a few mornings. (You don't get a fireplace with a gorgeous water view very often!) A fully stocked kitchen, including the coffee! Plenty of space for us to play games upstairs or to spread out and have our quiet moments of solitude. Comfy beds. Three full bathrooms. Honestly, we hated to leave! Communication with hosts were quick, efficient and welcoming from the beginning to the end! We would all highly recommend and I hope to find an excuse to book again in the near future!

Great Lake house

We had 2 families stay and utilized downstairs for one and upstairs for the other. It worked very well. Communication with host was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely House

This house is near our own camp and we are now too many to fit in our house and we enjoy spilling over into this beautiful and very comfortable, well-supplied Big Lake camphouse. It is large and very pretty. The breeze on the front porch is pleasant and relaxing.

Absolutely Incredible

Can’t say enough great things about this property. Great communication with the owner throughout the process. The house is beautiful, spacious, and extremely well stocked with everything you would need. Gorgeous views of the lake. I went there for guys fishing trip and we used a local guide. This location was perfect for it. It was close to where the guides launched from and plenty of space to come back and cook our catch. Do not hesitate to stay here.

Wonderful Getaway!

We had a wonderful getaway at Thanksgiving in this scenic, family friendly property. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating. They even left cookies and milk for us on our arrival. They were easy & quick to communicate about the property and were very helpful! We hope to return again soon.

BEAUTIFUL BAY HOUSE, CLEAN, & WITH AN AMAZING VIEW!

First, Mary's bay house is beautiful and well appointed. This is not a Big Lake / Calcasieu Lake camp. Next, just to clarify the difference this is a beautiful bay home with everything you need from the way it is furnished, the amount of beds / people it will sleep, the number of bathrooms, or simply having everything you need in the kitchen to cook while you're there. Also, the views from the back porch of the camp which are your living room & kitchen views as well are amazing. And, Mary has maintained the place extremely well & it is kept really clean especially for an STR property. Last, Mary is an outstanding short term rental property host. I hosted a 50th surprise birthday weekend for my wife at Mary's bay house and she absolutely went out of her way to accommodate every request I made and even offer up assistance and favors for our group that were unsolicited. We had the fortunate chance of meeting her as well and she is even friendlier in person as she is via messaging her. You won't find a better host on VRBO. She's amazing. If you're on the fence about renting her place go ahead & pull the trigger you won't regret it!

Luxury Camping at its best! Everything was there to cook with and fish, and crab with.

We all were really impressed with this house. We loved everything about it! Great location for fishing, and crabbing. We can't wait to go back soon!

I grew up spending the summer at my parents home at Big Lake. My husband and I built this home behind my parents home in 2003 when we lived in Houston. After spending a lot of weekends at Big Lake, we moved back to Lake Charles in 2005. This home is our special place. There is nothing quite as relaxing as sitting on the porch with a glass of wine overlooking the lake at any time, during any season. It is a magical place.
