Wonderful vacation home

The lay-out and comfort of the home was perfect, and we loved exploring the areas around the home and in the nearby state parks.

I'm delighted you enjoyed my home, its rural setting, and the various parks Harstine Island has to offer. Although it's only 37 miles as the crow flies from downtown Seattle, most locals aren't familiar with it. I love the fact that both the island and Hartstene Pointe, the gated community at the northernmost tip of Harstine where my house is located, are still among the best-kept secrets in Washington State. Please know that you're welcome to return anytime!

Very comfortable home.

The home was very comfortable for me, my two daughters and grandchildren. Loved our walks, beach time by the rope swing and pool time. Very beautiful island to explore or just stay at the Pointe. I hope to return.

Hartstene Island getaway

A wonderful home nestled in the woods. We purchased many items from local Farmers Markets and prepared them and shared them with family members on the back porch. We saw many deer while walking around the gated community. It is such a peaceful place. Skip is great to deal with and stocks his kitchen more than any other Homeaway.

Vacation Heaven

Island Magic is a home away from home. Everything you could possibly need is available and comfortable in this wonderfully appointed home. Hiking is the best with views that cannot even be imagined. We were a little late for the summer activities, but I can imagine what the island must be like with all of the beach and water access. Deer are abundant and the community is welcoming. You can’t help but enjoy yourself here!

We really enjoyed our stay at Harstine Pointe. Swimming in the community pool, relaxing on the beach, and hiking the ravine behind the property. The house is well kept and exactly as listed. The owner is friendly and attentive. We booked last minute and he was very flexible in finding a way to allow us access to the community that is outside of the usual routine. On arrival I was nervous to see a lot of fragile collectibles and memorabilia displayed throughout the house, but my young kids 5 & 8 did really well keeping their hands off of them. Be aware though if you travel with littles who can't keep their hands to themselves, this could be an issue for you. Overall, I would recommend this house and gladly stay here again.

Cozy and peaceful retreat

My family and I had a very restorative vacation at Island Magic. The setting is very peaceful and the home is very inviting. We enjoyed the great selection of movies, the location, and the well appointed kitchen.

Nice home, pretty, peaceful setting

Nicely situated on one level. And, if a person likes to walk, it’s perfect: an easy, peaceful one-mile walk to the Spit, or a short-steep quick walk to the little marina. Plenty of kitchen staples, silverware, etc. Two of us and one dog in a three bedroom, two bathroom home. Two beds were nice and firm, one bed, a bit soft. The owner is very pleasant, helpful, and easy to communicate with. There are lots of handy maps, too. A nice deck, but our week was a bit rainy.

Like home away from home

Island Magic is a wonderful gem in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed spending some time here and taking our kayaks on short trips to Indian Cove and Spencer Lake and pickleball on the community court. We enjoyed pastries and ice cream from the Olympic Bakery and Deli and hiked the Staircase loop trail in the Olympic National Forest. Even with the closure of the pool and club house due to the Covid-19 restrictions, there was plenty to do and enjoy. We enjoyed comfortable and restful nights as well in this beautiful home.

This was a well equipped house, very comfortable, with clear instructions on the use of the property and things to do in the area. It was such a nice house that we were surprised that dogs were allowed. Loved spending time with the whole family.

Perfect for Families of All Ages!

We feel so lucky to have found "Magic Island"! Our young grandchildren so enjoyed the terrific playground and we ALL enjoyed the large pool and hot jacuzzi!! Hiking nearby was a beautiful: we saw several deer! Skip's home is SUPER well-stocked from towels, to condiments, to games, and videos- we had EVERYTHING we needed (which was important as we were traveling from California)! We BBQ'd and enjoyed family meals on both the deck with lush forest views as well as around the large dining table. We look forward to our next trip to make more family memories!

Great vacation with kids!

My kids and I had a wonderful time at Island Magic. The kids said they felt at home immediately. Skip contacted me before our stay and gave me some recommendations for our trip: the Wild Felid Center and the Olympic Bakery. We visited both and they were terrific. The home is a 5 minute walk from the pool and we went back and forth a lot! The trip and the house could not have been better. Thanks, Skip!!

Great stay and property

We absolutely enjoyed our 7 days at Island Magic. Skip is a great host. It was incredibly restful and yet close to so many things to do. The area is beautiful. We are originally from Oregon, but have lived in Nevada for almost 30 years. Being among the trees again was like coming home. I retire next year and am planning on moving to Washington state. I had been looking more in eastern Washington, but being in the luscious west coast we are now looking westward. Thanks for such a great vacation.

Great place to reconnect with our West Coast Family

The house was beautiful and spacious for 5 people. A lot of extras were there so we did not have to worry about including basics on our grocery shopping list which was a definite plus. We spent most of our time on the deck and the only thing I would like a little more of is sun, although the trees are beautiful. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of drawer space. I am not a fan of living out of a suitcase but there were no empty drawers to put clothes in. However, this is not something that would keep me from staying here again.

Lovely stay at Island Magic

Our family stayed at the lovely Island Magic home at Hartstene Pointe for three nights. We stayed there once before, and like the first time, we had a very relaxing vacation nestled in the woods. This home has all the amenities you need to be comfortable, including all the kitchen items you need to cook your own meals. We enjoyed relaxing at the pool, walking the beaches and trails, and had a nice BBQ down by the marina and one at North Beach as well. I highly recommend this property!

Serenity

Hartstene point had wonderful trails and the kids loved having the pool to play in! The back deck has the most beautiful scenery of this wooded ravine, it almost feels as though you’re in a rain forest. The miles of beach were so much fun to wander around and find treasures and watch the tide.

Isolated Reflection and Restoration

The hospitality upon arrival in Seattle was indeed outstanding. Skip is a kind-hearted, liberal yet punctual host, which I enjoyed. He made the house, Island Magic, very comfortable and accommodating. I was able to indulge in the different amenities the property had to offer from the serene greenery scenery out on the back deck to the calm, waverly waters at the Spit. The isolation of Island Magic was ideal for my time to deal with family and reflection.

Magic is an understatement - tranquil and so NW

We have often used VRBO/Home Away for our vacation plans and this is the best stay we have experienced in our 8 years of using the service. Skip is noticeably proud of his property and very eloquent in his delivery of information. We knew so much about Hartstene Island and Harstine Pointe long before we arrived and our expectations were extremely high. Well they were exceeded by a long shot and the 6 of us had a fantastic time. The house was lovely, very well appointed and equipped and spotless throughout. The walks in the woods, the marina area and especially the pool, located at the community club house, were all wonderful places to spend time at. It’s too bad we were only their for 3 nights, but plans for our future will include this gem of a find, if Skip will kindly rent to us when that time comes. Great home at the Pointe!

We really enjoyed Island Magic, in particular the single story was great for my aging parents. My kids loved the movie collection and all accommodations were great. Very clean and accommodating. We loved the views from the deck into the rain forest and the trail below to the marina. We would definitely stay at Island Magic again if Skip would have us.

Comfort and peace of mind

We have a daughter in a wheelchair. The owner, Skip, took extra steps to ensure our comfort and security by purchasing a small ramp for the front porch and a gate for the back porch. No other modifications were needed. Our family enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the nature trails (although these were not wheelchair accessible). We especially enjoyed the Spit and the tidal pools held adventure for our young children to explore. We enjoyed building a fire in one of the pits at the Spit, before fire conditions prohibited anymore open fires. Very beautiful location, and the rental home was fully furnished (internet, dishes, TV, even bikes & charcoal grill) for our comfortable two weeks' stay.
