Sonningview är ett mysigt hem på gångavstånd (tillbaka del uppåt) till Long Beach och Nutgrove beach, affärer, kaféer och nära busshållplatser.

Det lugna kvarteret ligger mittemot Alexandra Battery med härlig utsikt över floden Derwent.

Privat fristående lägenhet som bifogas huvudbyggnaden i Hobarts vackra strandförort Sandy Bay. Det har en egen ingång via trädgården där utomhusstolar finns.

Nära södra utloppet till Huon och Bruny Ferry. Tio minuter till CBD och Salamanca / Battery Point. Buss till CBD och södra kustförorter. Anslutningar med MONA-färja och buss. Två km till Wrest Point och University.

Wonderful views and a great location for our long weekend stay in Hobart. Comfortable lodgings with attentive, responsive hosts. How nice to have that first morning breakfast supplied and to be able to pick from the garden. The driveway, as most of Sandy Bay, is steep but manageable but free driveway parking is always a plus.. Having a washer and dryer in the apartment was much appreciated.

A great base for exploring Hobart

A fab self-contained garden apartment in a beautiful suburb of Hobart. Good parking and easy access to public transport, Hobart CBD and Sandy Bay facilities. Wonderful support and communication from host Janina. We can't recommend this accommodation enough to all ages adults.

Private Garden seclusion

Wonderful place to stay , lovely outlook (from the bed) to the garden & Mt Wellington. Very thoughtful little extras ( Jamdrops provided by the host ) bus stops nearby , great views of the Derwent from the front of the house.

Our stay

Overall was good. Janina was just lovely and accommodating. She provided tea, coffee, milk, biscuits etc. Everything supplied and bed was comfortable. You would assume the photo shown in the advertisement was the view from the accommodation. However it's the view from the house in front so we found this a little disappointing. Overall not overly roomy but as I said everything supplied.

Private and quiet garden setting.

We had a lovely stay at this apartment overlooking the private garden. Loved the occasional chirping of birds otherwise a very quiet spot. Comfy beds. Our hosts Janina and Gary were very welcoming

It was one of the best places I have stayed, the hosts Janina and Gary can not do enough for you. Met on arrival offered to carry our luggage, very wam people went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable. Was surprised how big the flat was and spotlessly clean Lovely views close to everything. Would recommend to everyone.

Excellent accommodation. Very homely and comfortable. Lovely garden to relax in and enjoy. Only one thing required is a larger blanket for the bed. It was a double and a queen size would have been warmer.

Janina and Gary are warm and welcoming hosts who have put so much thought into making their guests feel very much at home. The flat is fantastic and very comfortable, surrounded by a beautiful garden. The area is close to the beach and supermarkets and eateries. Views are amazing. City is close by and with a car there are so many daytrips possible. Our hosts were very helpful with great suggestions on places to visit and best ways to enjoy this lovely city.

A lovely garden apartment

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sandy Bay. It was within easy reach of Hobart CBD, local restaurants and great shopping. Janina and Gary are thoughtful, friendly and considerate hosts and helped us feel right at home. The garden is a jewel, full of color and beautiful plants and the apartment very comfortable. We hope to return on our next visit to Hobart.

Delightful!

Beautiful location, we were well looked after, arriving late (8.30pm instead of 4 as flight was delayed) in gale winds, Janina gifted us eggs and bacon to cook up for our evening meal, which was soo appreciated! Garden and views were special, and accomodation was neat and clean with all amenities provided. Janina and Gary were lovely souls who kept us up to date with local events and places to eat/visit. Highly recommend staying here xx

Respite at Sonningview

After a difficult check-in process due to our phone malfunctioning, we arrived at Sonningview without having completed our registration. Janina and Gary patiently and kindly helped us work things out with VRBO so that we could stay in their lovely apartment at Sonningview. Every detail is attended to, with little thoughtful extras like cookies, delicious bread, butter and jams and lovely lemons, tomatoes, and apples from the garden. We enjoyed having time with Janina and Gary in their round room, Frank Lloyd Wright style with a magnificent view of the bay and Hobart's hillside dwellings at Sandy Bay. Gary and Janina are warm and generous hosts and we enjoyed lively conversation and great suggestions of things to see and where to have high tea for my birthday. Our stay at Sonningview was a highlight of our trip to Tasmania, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in Hobart. Thank you, Janina and Gary, for everything!

We love Hobart and although we have travelled a lot we adore coming home. There is so much to do and one doesn't have to travel far from home before coming across something new or somewhere interesting.
We came down from Melbourne in 1980 to enjoy our little holiday house in the Derwent Valley for many years and have lived in Hobart permanently since retiring. My photo shows me celebrating a special birthday at MONA's tapas restaurant.
Hosting since 2015 and we still try to do our best as if its the first day.

"Janina and Gary are great hosts and go out of their way to make guests comfortable, the accommodation is cozy and warm in winter. The outlook and nearby park are splendid. The provisions provided are excellent, and you are assured of a great holiday staying here. Thank you Martin and Debbi June 2024."

Varför värden valde detta boende

We fell in love with our house and its location the instant we saw it. The main house was built in the 1960's and has two special features - the sunken livingroom downstairs and the circular glass room upstairs.

The mountain and river views from around the garden are inspiring. We can walk to beautiful spots along the river, the village shops and cafes on the beach. To help save the planet we keep one car now and we sometimes use the buses which pass by our street.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The adjoining 50sqm apartment was built in the 1980's by the previous owners to be used primarily for visiting friends and family. When not in use they welcomed BnB guests. We thought it had a very cosy feel with all the wood panelling, beams and loved the picture window views into the garen. After installing a kitchenette and laundry to the unit we have carried on the tradition.

We love that our guests say they enjoy the property's tranquility and the garden. Recently I added a peach tree to the apples and apricot trees. And we try to keep some herbs and lettuces growing for guests to pick fresh. Recently we planted strawberries as well.
