Great Memories Made @ Kookoolamonga

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Accommodations were great, house was very nice and the kitchen was well -equipped. (Great cookware). The pool was small but nice. Lots of cobwebs and spiders. There were what appeared to roaches one on the middle level patio, one in the lower level shower and several running from under the hot tub. I would recommend an exterminator to spray the base of the home outside.

Out of Order Elevator Major Inconvenience

The house and location were as advertised. The shower curtain in one of the bathrooms on the middle floor was moldy and there was mold in the jets in the master bathroom tub. The alarm at the septic tank went off after a storm. We called the number provided and someone came and looked at it the next morning, but it went off again later that evening. My husband used to install septic tanks, so he knew how to manually get it down so the alarm stayed off the rest of the week. The biggest issue was the elevator. The lease agreement stated: "Elevators are not guaranteed to be ADA compliant... The elevator should be used by individuals who are unable to use the stairs and supervising adults ONLY." We had a woman with MS staying with us. She planned to sleep on the bottom floor where the handicapped accessible bathroom was and use the elevator to join us on the top floor where the kitchen and main living area is. When we arrived, large signs on each floor stated that the elevator was out of order! The rental agency rep said that they sent me an email stating that it was broken, but I checked my email, deleted items, and spam and it was not there. Some family members rented a very similar home very close by with a much bigger yard and no elevator. I requested compensation in an amount of the difference of two homes but was denied. This home is managed by Beach Realty, and I will never use them again. Family and friends stayed in 2 other VRBO houses that were perfect.

Relaxation on Point !

This was a family vacation and the space was the perfect size for our family (3 different families) to come together yet be able to spread out! It was a great location in Nags Head, close to the beach and the highway. It was close enough for the teens to go play golf, get ice cream, bike and go back and forth to the beach safely. Having en-suite bathrooms was a huge plus so everyone had their own privacy. If you are planning a vacation with multiple families this is a great location!

2022 family vacation

Rented property due to being handi-capp friendly. I use a walker so it was perfect! Vacationed with husband & our 4 adult kids with their significant others plus granddaughter. All enjoyed property very much! Perfect week! Drive from Massachusetts not bad...we did in 2 days.

REALLY KOOL KOOKOOLAMONGA!

Saltwater pool, sports themed gameroom with full size pool table and assorted games, and kayak for the walkable distance to the beach!4. Sleeping accommodations for all were comfy, bright and very clean.5. That 3rd floor huge kitchen, dining area, huge living room area with a big tv (used very little!), made for really enjoyable gatherings for our families.6. Beach Realty REALLY came up strong providing advice and connections, especially for beach rental items (paddle boards, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas and big wheeled wagons), to make our stay very relaxed and enjoyable!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This beach rental housed four of our children and their spouses, along with 6 grandchildren. The house was a perfect fit for all 16 of us. My wife and I used the king bedroom on the third floor, so the elevator was a godsend to two old folks. Everyone had a great time in the house and on the beach which was a very short walk from the house. I highly recommend this venue for a large family such as ours.

A Delightful Seven Days

The house is just 1 1/2 blocks from the beach (ocean) and is a wonderful retreat. The four bedrooms, on three floors, with an elevfator made it easy for the grandparents to have superb access. Operating manuals for everything. We spent a delightful seven days at Kookaloomonga.

Our June vacation

We had a wonderful week. Although we had some family members missing- it was a quiet week. The neighborhood is quiet- although there is construction beginning next door. The house is nice and there are plenty of places to have privacy away from others. The kitchen is fantastic and stocked well. The walk to the beach is not bad and the pool is a plus. Over all this is a very nice house to rent.

Pool and hot tub nice for those times you are not on beach. Home has everything you could ask for for preparing meals. White board was nice for game playing and art for kids and adults. Wonderful beach location near grocery, shopping and walkable to park and farmers market.

Fun stay

Reviewer Comments: The house was lovely,and clean (and ready when we arrived at check-in time. Great neighborhood for daily walks, and short walk to the beach. Very quiet neighborhood. The pool is pretty small - nice for a dip.We had two issues that kept this experience from getting 5 stars. First, in the lease we signed several weeks in advance of the trip, we requested heat for the pool. When we got there, the pool wasn't heated. When I contacted Beach, they said they hadn't charged, and could still do it, but gave no input as to why it hadn't been done/charged per the lease. (Just as well - for the size of the pool, $500 for heat seemed very high).Second, the trash and recycle bins were close to full when we got there. I'm guessing prior guests put them out when they left on Saturday. Since they're picked up on Friday, we were left with full bins all week. We put both out on Thursday night, as instructed, and by time we left Saturday morning, neither had been emptied. Not sure what's up with that, but it was likely a problem for the next guests.

Some of the doors were hard to lock. It was within walking distance to the beach. There was sufficient parking for our entire family and the elevator was indeed a plus. All the rooms were comfortable. We also enjoyed the park so close by.

The elevator was perfect for a few of us with knee problems and for loading and unloading supplies to the 3rd floor. It was ok.

It’s a nice place however the only handicapped accessible area is the downstairs. Couldn’t fit wheelchair in bathroom upstairs and barely fit in the elevator. There was a dirty towel in the bathroom when we got there, and spegetti sauce on the kitchen cabinet door handle. Tv in the living room was the only tv that worked. Otherwise nice location.

Calypso Cottage a nice place to vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we had a good experience. Good walking distance to the beach. In the Livingroom area we had a problem with the TV cable channel operation and the WiFi was weak. We had a problem with the dishwashers long cycle. We had a problem with the kitchen sink faucet failure and water leak, which was repaired while we were there. The door going from the kitchen to the balcony over the pool is hard to open and close. Everything else was fine and we had a great time.
