This house had everything you want to appreciate the obx. Close enough to great local attractions. Great beach front property. Amazing sunrises. Highly recommend.

Excellent location better than advertised

The house has a better view of the beach than the listing shows , so that was a wonderful surprise . The house is private but close enough to everything, very convenient location. Definitely a great place to stay.

Great location!

This unit has the best location in the complex, it's right on the beach with an amazing porch that overlooks the ocean. It was clean and well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The only slight issue was the thin walls between the it and the adjoining unit. It wasn't bad but you knew you had neighbors.

Back 2 The Beach

Overall was good but we were not prepared for the number of stairs in the unit and the handrails that only went part way. We feel that somethings should have been in place i.e. no toilet paper in the unit when we arrived or hand sanitizer.

Great Stay

Beautiful view of the ocean and enjoyed being tucked away in the corner of the Dunes South complex. Easy access to the beach just a few doors down.

Oceanfront treat!

Reviewer Comments: The porch up to the sand for an ocean view can make it hard to want to leave this beautiful place and all the comforts of home make that easy to rent for a staycation!We enjoyed a great week in one of my favorite places and the price made this my first oceanfront rental in OBX. Nice home with three bedrooms has plenty of room to spread out and the short distance to Kill Devil Hills makes it convenient. We enjoyed a sunset boat ride with a couple of local men who shared some interesting information about the area and spent a day in Manteo at their great aquarium (make reservation before going) and the Elizabethan Gardens. Always enjoy a ride to Corolla and a visit at the Whalehead Lodge near the lighthouse there too.

Great location to beach

Great view and great location to beach. A little bit of a walk to get to beach but not bad at all. Appliances all worked well. The only critical comment is the place really needs a vacuum sweeper to clean up sand. We swept with broom and got about 2 cups of sand off floors when we arrived. Other than that it was an awesome place. They must have been having problems with AC but had 4 temporary window units installed. Worked very well. One other issue is we paid for the linens but they did not arrive until we called the next day.

The property manager was great. They responded quickly to the issues we had. The cleanliness of the house was terrible. There was pee stains on the matters covers on the majority of the beds. It was so bad that we had to sleep sitting on the couch the first night. The floors were sandy and gritty. The cold air return on the second floor was filthy. The stove top had food on the burner that had not been cleaned off. There was dust on the TV screen that made it hard to see the program. The deck had a board pulled up with nails sticking up. I tripped on the board and almost fell. The washing machine was making a terrible noice. We called to have it checked out. The agency was given permission by the owner to have it checked, no one ever showed up to fix it.

Convent location with a view you can't beat!

We've stayed at other properties in Dunes South and this one earns 5 stars for location. You can't beat the view from the top deck and beach access is only a 30 second walk. The beach was clean, uncrowded, and conveniently located between two piers that offer food, activities and sights to see. The house could have used a little updating but if you aren't bothered by a bit of wear and tear it will do just fine. The property is also a duplex so you'll have to keep the possibility of having neighbors in mind. The house offered everything we needed for cooking. We opted to not rent linens and just brought our own towels and sheets. Pillows and comforters were still provided which was a plus. Overall great stay for our family and we look forward to renting again in the future!

Nice place but could have been cleaned better

The house was nice, however the house was not cleaned very well. I was told that housekeeping was very short staffed, but there was dust in the air conditioning vents amongst other places and sand in some of the beds. I did call the rental place and they said that they could send someone over to clean, but i had told them that i had already cleaned what needed to be cleaned. I cleaned and did laundry on my first day of vacation, which I was not expecting to do.

Only issue be it a minor one was that they redid some of the decking boards and the nails were still sticking up which hurt if you didn't have your flip flops on. All the amenities were there as advertised! Beds were very comfortable!

DO NOT RENT WITH CAROLINA SHORES!!!

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Carolina Shores is a terrible property management company. You will regret staying anywhere that they manage. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. We rented linens but they weren't there when we arrived so had to call and have them delivered after a long day of driving and wait for them to be delivered and they were still missing bedding for one entire bed! The linens are garbage! Terrible and horrible quality. Don't waste your money- go to Walmart and buy new. The place was dirty. Sand all over the floors and no vacuum to clean it. After our stay we diligently cleaned and gathered all the linens and then were charged another $175 for a supposed dirty bed bug protector- which was never there in the first place! My son had a tiny cut on his foot from a blister and got a tiny amount of blood on the comforter, so they charged me to replace it! Easily cleanable by anyone else. After our stay it took me months of fighting with the company to address these issues only to finally after many unanswered emails have the head of housekeeping tell me no, you're not getting your security deposit back. Never in my life have I dealt with such terrible customer service and unprofessionalism. STAY FAR AWAY!!!

First time OBX Visit

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: All in all we loved our stay at the OBX. The house is by far the best stocked house we have every stayed at for a rental house. Plenty of amenities to make us very comfortable at the house (Quality cooking/dining accessories, quality beds, games a beach accessories etc).Downsides - Beach access was misleading based on pictures. No direct beach access from house like it seemed (Very short walk to group access in the community). With small kids and grandma, we were looking forward to the access the picture provided over the 3rd story balcony (our intention was to rent a place based on this understanding). -The loft bed was nice addition but very shallow and steep steps. With young kids, grandma and a pregnant wife, no one was able to use the loft bed as we anticipated. Not devastating to a truly remarkable house otherwise, just a little misleading. Rental company seemed like I was bothering them every time we spoke and I consistently got the runaround regarding money. I will think long and hard for the next house we want to rent if this company is involved.
