Fantastic property

We have stayed at the White Elephant several times and keep coming back because it is a great house. The pool is spectacular and the amenities are excellent. The house is also conveniently located and accessible to pretty much everything in Charlottesville.

Birthday weekend

We had a wonderful stay! House was clean and accommodating. The pool and pool house were fabulous. Owners were on site but did not invade our privacy at all. Highly recommend.

Perfect getaway!

Plenty of room for our family & friend group to gather together without being on top of each other. Beds & pillows were comfy, kitchen was well stocked, pool setting was stunning, & communication with hosts was fantastic! The location is terrific…we stayed for UVA graduation week and the proximity to campus, restaurants & grocery stores was wonderful! Truly a gem of a property!

Family Trip

Great meeting spot for family meeting from across the country. House was beautiful and very well located to all Charlottesville points of interest. Owners were great to work with. Would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful stay!!!

We had a wonderful stay at The White Elephant Inn! The house was charming, with so many interesting details that made our experience both enjoyable and comfortable. It was well-equipped and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. One of the standout features was that each room had its own private bathroom, which made it incredibly convenient for everyone.The only thing that caught us off guard was discovering that the owner lives in a separate unit attached to the house. However, this wasn’t an issue at all, as they were very respectful of our space and kept to themselves. That said, we did feel the need to be a bit quieter coming back after a night out, as the owner's unit is located in the basement.The house itself was clean, functional, and ideal for our needs. The only small suggestion I have is that one of the main bedrooms was missing a flat sheet and pillowcases on the pillows, which may have been a small oversight. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would absolutely stay here again, especially in the summer when we could take advantage of the pool!

Great house and pool for a group

Pool area is perfect. We had several families with lots of kids and everyone had a blast. Gorgeous large pool with great pool house with full kitchen and outdoor grill and lots of seating. Really a great place to stay. We would definitely go back.

Wonderful family retreat

A tropical Paradise in the middle of Charlottesville, close to everything yet very tranquil. Wonderful bedrooms and discrete work areas on the inside accentuate the unbelievable pool area and pavilion behind. Beautifully well done, and not adequately depicted in pictures. It’s a near perfect getaway venue. Amazing hosts were always available and nothing went undone or wanting. Very responsive and cordial.

Wonderful pool, location, gathering space

A wonderful stay for UVA graduation weekend. House was very close to town (and we could drive back roads the whole way to avoid 29 traffic!). Very clean and well stocked house, we cooked meals for 10 and loved sitting out by the pool. The pool house kitchen really helped with drinks and cleanup. Loved the hot tub on cool nights. All in all it was perfect for our extended family stay and made for a wonderful celebration!

Wow! A must stay for the entire family!!

My family had the absolute pleasure of staying in this amazing home. The space was more than enough to accommodate our large group. One of the best features for me was the pool house kitchen that made hanging out even better as no one was "stuck" in the kitchen away from all the fun. The pool was perfect and so refreshing after a hot day exploring Charlottesville proper. The owners are one in a million and will answer all your questions. A true gem and we will definitely be returning!

Excellent Property!

This home is AWESOME! The pictures of the home are beautiful, but the house is even more beautiful than it is in the pictures. There were nice personal touches that the owners had at the entrance of the home upon my arrival. My friends and I LOVED our time here. The owners were so friendly and helpful. If I ever take another weekend retreat to the Charlottesville area, I will definitely stay here again!

Exceeded Expectations

I booked the house for my sister’s bachelorette weekend. I could not have asked for a better experience. Kathy and Bill were so accommodating and I was able to host a weekend everyone enjoyed. The house was very comfortable with lots of space. There were 7 of us and we all found it easy to relax. The master bedroom made a perfect little bridal suite and was very easy to decorate. The pool area is outstanding, the photos don’t even capture how amazing it is. I could have happily stayed for another week just to enjoy the house. Location-wise this was perfect for us. It’s in a quiet area but very convenient to everything. Thanks so much!

Fantastic stay for graduation weekend

Can’t say enough good things about our stay this weekend. We filled the house with family using all five bedrooms and the pool house sofa room. The owners couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. The house is stocked with every possible serving dish, utensil, cutlery etc etc you could think of. Lovely wine glasses for the house plus dozens of plastic wine glasses for the pool patio. They were very gracious about us hosting family and friends around the pool, even coming out to offer a huge cooler on legs to hold beer and drinks. The house was spotlessly clean and they had supplied trash bags, napkins and dishwasher soap, among many extras. The hot tub was splendid! Would definitely recommend for a family gathering.

Lovely Oasis Like Property

We loved our weekend getaway at the White Elephant Inn! There were seven adults and three teenagers in our group. The house has multiple levels and has so many spaces to be. We cooked in both nights. The kitchen is large with two dining areas. There’s a pool house in addition to the five bedrooms in the main house that has a pullout sofa, full kitchen, and bath. The pool wasn’t open yet (we’ll be back for that), but we did use the 10 person hot tub. The house has so much character. We loved it. Downtown Charlottesville was about 10 minutes away. So easy!! I highly recommend this property.

Highly recommended

Our best and wholehearted recommendation! We spent a week to remember at The White Elephant, with family and friends who came for the wedding of our son in Charlottesville. There were 13 of us staying at The White Elephant, and four others were in a nearby hotel, but spent much of the daytime here. We were all impressed by the beauty, elegance and practicality of this place, secluded on a gentle slope in a woody area. The rooms and kitchens are big, the decks too, all nicely furnished. The swimming pool and the area around it are spectacular; it was a kids’ paradise and a great party place. The day before the wedding we organized a rehearsal dinner there for 70 guests and it was a big success. The owners, Bill and Katie, were kind and discreet, always ready to answer our calls. They not only tolerated our throwing a big party, but provided a lot of real help. We all left the place thinking how fortunate we were; it was much beyond our expectations.

Home away from home

My family and I used the Inn as accommodation for a wedding. It is ideally located and easy to find. Bob and Kath made sure that we were looked after well. Although out of season and the pool was closed, the hot tub was used and great. The house is fully equipped, spotless and comfortable.

Perfect Charlottsville getaway

We had a wonderful stay in Charlottsville. The house was the perfect size for our group of 4 couples. The outdoor pool area was great for an early fall spot to relax with friends. The house is very close to downtown, the airport and some great wineries.

Daughters Sweet 16th Birthday

We could not of asked for a better place for my daughters 16th birthday party. She wanted a place that had a pool and oasis feel. The house and backyard met all of our expectations. The house was wonderful for all of her friends and our family to spread out and enjoy themselves. Truthfully, we stayed at the pool house most of the time. The jacuzzi, infinity pool, music that streamed outside and the sitting area with a huge TV was a big hit with the kids. The pool house had a restroom, laundry to dry towels and a full kitchen and outside grill we used the whole weekend. Bill and Kathy were great host they responded to questions we had immediately and let the kids swim a little bit longer after check out. We will definitely be renting again in the future for family gatherings or birthdays. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Relaxing weekend

Fantastic spot for a relaxing stay. There's plenty to do around the house, and it's perfectly located to Charlottesville if you want to visit breweries or wineries. There's plenty of space in the house and it was great to spend some time in the pool and grilling out. Definitely recommend for anybody looking in this area!

Amazing House with an Even More Amazing Pool

We spent five days at this house and had an absolute blast. It was very nice having a full bath attached to each bedroom and both us and our kids couldn't get enough of the pool. We had planned on hitting breweries and wineries but when it got too hot for the kids, we ended up spending most of our time at the pool and could not have asked for a better vacation.
