Nice time in Ortley

The good:Great location. Owner was responsive and easy to deal with. Spacious house. Not so good:Yard was significantly overgrown with weeds when we arrived. However, the owner had a landscaper come to address the second day of our trip. House could use some updating. A bit of an ant problem during our stay.

Did Not Stay

We did not stay. We told Mike we had late check-in and he was to leave the porch light on. The code was correct but it was dark as there was no light. Entered the house and it was terrible. Dust was at least 1 inch thick on sills, fans and frames. Stripped the bed sheets in the master bedroom and there were black bugs on pad and mattress. The mattress and pad had stains on it. The oven, microwave and fridge were dirty - didn't look like it had been cleaned ever. My work towels were better than his bath towels. He should tell people he has 2 large boats parked in the backyard - one taking up valuable parking spaces. This was not as the pictured or advertised - not even close. The only redeeming quality was we were refunded the entire payment. Will not be using VRBO again.

Made reservations in May the weather was awful had to deal with Ophelia very windy and rainy great location great places to eat place was big don’t think who’s taking care of the place is doing their job storm door was broken was trying to get into the wrong property didn’t know it was behind said property called manager to inform him didn’t return call front door latch broke probably normal wear and tear being a carpenter was able to get the door open vents had dust all over them stove was dirty downstairs bathroom was making weird noises not able to watch football just streaming tv weather really affected our stay but it is what it is think the owner should address the property manager about the issues in the house he did reach out and apologize for any inconveniences but think he’s not getting the work done that’s needed.

Great Family Getaway

Grew up in Toms River. Worked on the Seaside Heights boardwalk as a teenager. Beach days were always in Ortley. It was fun to come back and enjoy the NJ shore.

Weekend details

Everything about this weekend was amazing. The owner communicated accordingly and helped with anything we asked. The house was perfect for my family and friends.

Not quite what was advertised.

The queen room advertised was really a twin. There is a large area to park but the area had two very large boats taking up a lot of space. Making it hard to park unless you have tiny cars. When you open the windows in the dinning area on of those large boats is your total view. The stove was extremely dirty. The doors stick badly making it a big struggle to open or close them.

Toms River Beach House

Michael the host was very accommodating and returned emails quickly. Any questions that we had he was able to provide the answers to us in a quick manner. The hose is perfect for small families.
