Salmonberry Retreat - Meredith Lodging

Relax and unwind at the Salmonberry Retreat, a warm and comfortable cabin with a vaulted great room and floor-to-ceiling windows bringing in lots of natural sunlight. Settle in by the rock fireplace enjoying a real wood fire or gather around the outside firepit roasting marshmallows and reliving the day’s adventures exploring Mt Hood. The backyard deck and patio is perfect for grilling dinner on the gas BBQ, then socializing with friends serenaded by the sounds of the rushing Sandy River and birdsong. End the day with a soothing soak in the private, outdoor hot tub.

Everyone in the family will appreciate spending time together while cooking meals, watching TV or playing board games in the spacious great room that is open to the kitchen and dining area and leads out to the back deck. The floor plan accommodates up to 3 couples or a small family with 2 queen bedrooms and a full bathroom downstairs and a queen loft with an attached private bathroom upstairs.

You will be close to all Mt Hood activities including hiking trails, snow play areas, restaurants and shops. Mountain bikers can ride 1 1/2 miles to the Sandy Ridge Trails. Your dog is welcome to join you at the Salmonberry Retreat for an additional charge.

This is a great house! Lovely rooms and comfortable beds. WiFi was great and the kitchen was good. Maybe some new knives would be nice. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the lack of privacy in the backyard. We discovered some great restaurants in the area too. Of course the bike riding at Sandy Ridge is exceptional and very close to the house.

Wonderful and Relaxing!

This was just as described and clean. We had a problem with the dishwasher and the communication with the property was excellent. This was a very close drive to trillium lake. We were able to swim and picnic all day. After, we were able to come back to the property and enjoy a nice warm real fire in the fireplace. We highly recommend!

Welches: Forest Calm!

We loved the clean interior and the decor! The windows on the back woods and the fireplace are a beautiful focal point! Lots of room, with 3 bedrooms. The chest of drawers in the dining room has lots of games, books, and puzzles. The location is wonderful with trails, an easy walk to the river, and a local market close by. The commerce area is a quick drive away. The cabin is off the highway, so there is no traffic noise. We really enjoyed our stay!

My hood skiing!

Took the kids and husband to Mt Hood for a couple days of skiing and snowboarding. Had a blast day skiing one day and night the other. House was very nice. Thank you!!

Beautiful Mt. Hood Get-Away

We enjoyed our three night stay very much. The property was well appointed and very comfortable for the four of us. The hot tub was a wonderful addition and enjoyed by all. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. For future guests, there were no spices or condiments on hand.

Quite And Cozy

We stayed here in April to be close to Mount Hood Meadows for some spring snowboarding. This place was awesome! It's tucked away off the highway and close to the river, while on the deck or in the hot tub you can hear it running. It's a quick drive to stores and restaurants, as for getting up to the ski resorts that's a quick 25 minuteb drive or so. I definitely recommend staying hear 👌

A Wonderful Week

Booked this house for the week and very glad we did! So clean, so cozy, great hot tub. As an fyi for others, the river is close in the back, but to get to it there is a patch of woods to walk through. It’s nice to listen to right off the back porch but not easy to dip your feet in or anything. Definitely not an issue for us, and it was so nice to hear the rushing river during the quiet calm days. Tons of fun games and extra DVDs too. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place, but overpriced

Pros: - Beautiful home and close to the river (10 sec walk) - Provided with complementary firewood!! - Hot tub was clean and secluded - Easy booking, no contact access, all info was accurate and clear Cons: - The kitchen was a bit old (but fully functional). Some of the utensils/glassware were a bit musty (lack of use) - Not very secluded, many houses were close by (but quiet. I never saw anyone) Overall, this was an excellent place to stay! I would come back again, but the price for one night (check-in: 4 PM, check-out: 11 AM) is just not worth it imo.

Home in the woods

We had an awesome time. The property was impeccable on the cleanliness of everything. The home was beautiful and the outside area was just gorgeous with dense trees and a creek nearby. It’s just a short walk to the river but didn’t find a way down to the river I also didn’t look very far. The home is in close proximity to many lakes. There was so many things already in the home. There was pump hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, coffee pot, toaster and just a fully stocked kitchen. You won’t go wrong with renting this home for your next vacation.

Nice well appointed home

This was a wonderful home with all the things you would need to enjoy your stay. Cons: shower/bath could use a deep cleaning. We chose not to bathe our children in the tub because of this. The outside needs to be pressure washed as there is moss and dirt on the outside walls and deck. The gutters and roof need to be cleaned. This was a safety hazard on the front deck because the rainwater was rushing off the roof causing the deck to be slippery.

Weekend stay

We never received a message to give us the code to enter the house, so it took us awhile to get ahold of Vacasa. Then the code they gave us didn’t work, so we had to wait until they gave us a different code. The rest of the house was great. The Formica behind the kitchen sink is completely detached from the counter wood, but you probably already knew that. The fire place was leaking smoke in to the house. Most went up the chimney but it got very smoky in the house. So we only did a fire one night. The face front of the fire place is smoke stained so it’s been leaking out awhile. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Beautiful setting

The home was clean and neat. When we first walked in the door we were met with a very strong smell of smoke. We had to open all the windows to clear the air in the home. Apparently a prior renter either built a fire without opening the flue or the chimney does not draw properly. The smell continued through out the stay just not as strong. Couple of items need attention. 1. One of the plastic pitchers in the kitchen is cracked on the bottom. 2. In going through the leaving instruction it mentions about turning off the hot tub but did not indicate where to locate the switch(we did find it eventually on the corner of the house). 3. When making reservations I wound up getting two invoices. One from Vrbo and one from Meredith lodging for about $70 less. .

Amazing location for outdoor getaway

Was very clean and the outdoor fire and indoor fireplace was great. Convenient location to go hiking in the area and host was awesome about having our dog with us. The house is really open and right next to the river.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful home on the Sandy River. Salmonberry Retreat has a modern home with a gorgeous fireplace. Perfect for Mom as there are bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. This was the hub for our family during our stay with having the rest of our family joining us for meals and quality relaxation time. Fabulous vacation!

Nothing special...

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I think it is important to know that the place is not secluded like it appears. The neighbors on both sides are just as close as a suburb. In fact, because there is no fence around this property, all of the neighbors can see right into this house. The inside is mediocre and the owners need to spruce it up a bit. All of the furnishings look and smell like they came from a garage sale. None of the couches were comfortable. On the other hand, the beds were very comfortable. It seems to have all of the basic living amenities that you will need. The property was superficially clean, but it did need some attention to details. Most of the lights had dead bugs in them and the vents were dusty and moldy. There is obvious mold and cocking problems in the showers. The toilets need a bit more attention too. I wasn’t looking for luxury, but I would compare the cleanliness and decor of this place to that of a rusty motel. Lastly, when we first arrived, the entire place smelled overwhelmingly of fire smoke. We reached out to the property management and their reply was, Thank you for letting us know about the smoke smell, we hope you have a great vacation... After developing headaches and nausea from the pungent smell of smoke, and highly considering leaving the place, we reached out again. They instructed us to open all of the windows and turn up the heat. Just to note, we did not light a fire at any point during this trip. We woke up the next morning cold to the bone, but the smell of smoke dissipated. We mildly enjoyed the rest of our stay in this cabin. We will never stay here again and will not recommend this place to anyone. If this review does not get posted on the vacation website, I will post it in several other places because it is important that people know the truth before wasting their hard earned money.
