  • My piece of paradise

"My husband and I have been coming here for almost 12 years. We absolutely love the location and the quietness. The view is so beautiful.....I love sitting on the patio and looking over the ocean at any time of day or night. Our unit is large, clean and well stocked with everything we need except the groceries. Some of our highlights over the years have been visiting Coombs market...they have goats on the roof, strolling along Qualicum Beach, just a 1/2 hours drive away...the sandy beach just goes on forever. There is a charming pizza place in Ladysmith that has a great special Tues nights and the farmer's market at the Crow and Gate Pub on Sun is a must see. The Pub also is class British Pub on a country road miles from town. People from Victoria make the drive just to sit in the beautiful outdoor garden...and there are lots of gardens in Victoria to choose from. I could go on and on.....the swimming pool is my favorite place is cantilevered over the cliff and the blue water of the pool combined with the blue of the sky and ocean is quite marvelous. Every morning I walk past the rose garden on my way to a quiet swim to start my day.....heavenly. Be sure to bring some binoculars...have not seen any whales yet, but others have...we just enjoy watching the boats go by while drinking our morning coffee on the patio. Angela looked after us for many years, now we have Patricia and Scott who have been just as great. They are available by text or email and live just down the road. Each unit is individually owned here which gives this place its charm. Make sure you have the owner;s contact information but really, it does not matter since there is always a helpful person to get a newcomer orientated. One more thing. I mentioned that we have been long time renters....and if we were younger or fully retired would buy a unit here in a heartbeat. Over the years, we have seen the property maintained and improved on...and all improvements are better than the original fixtures. There are at least 2 owners who actually live on site. That speaks volumes to the quality of this place....owners live here too. They keep the place running well, the place is quiet and family orientated and it has quality and charm. Hope you love it as much as we do."

  • Location, location, location!

"Our adult family of 6 enjoyed a week's stay at this charming, rustic panabode with beautiful views of Montague Harbour. The sun set directly in front of the deck where we enjoyed our dinners each night. It is certainly peaceful and serene. The house has a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of room for everyone. The decor is 70's time warp - which is part of the fun (remember cassette tapes?) The owner is very easy to deal with and answers your queries promptly. One minor problem is there is only one shower in the house and it is downstairs (the main living area and two bedrooms are upstairs) - so it was a bit of a scramble to have 6 adults scheduling showers. You are walking distance to the harbour where you can rent a boat, have lunch or rent a kayak. You are also walking distance to the best restaurant on the island (PILGRIMME). We enjoyed the resident heron who was on the dock each afternoon."

  • Quiet and restful stay

"Summary: A convenient and restful stay. Bryant was helpful in responding promptly. Instructions in the house were clear and concise. If staying with couples note it's not super private but that's clear in the description. Pros: Easy to check in/out Nice view Quiet and restful stay! Great communication with Bryant Coffee/water and snacks provided Well cleaned bedding, towels, kitchen, floors and bathroom Affordable/good wifi Shampoo and soap provided! Cons: Musty smell only in the bathroom Bathroom adjoins bedroom/entrance: privacy an issue if having 4 guests especially in the morning or night"

  • Charming!

"Our visit to Salt Spring Island was car free and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We caught the bus from the ferry and it dropped us off at the corner, steps from our accommodations. The suite is lovely and comfortable and is run by the owners of the Duthie Gallery. It's a short walk to the town of Ganges and far enough that it's peaceful and quiet both day and night. The sculpture garden attached to the Duthie Gallery is lovely to enjoy and steps from the private backyard that comes with the suite. It was wonderful to come into the suite and have fresh baked bread, some local fruit, homemade preserves, and all the fixings for a breakfast or snack. The only drawback for us was that the suite is open concept and if one person is awake it's difficult to let the other person sleep. Our contact person was Kevin and he was helpful with any questions we had and gave us a ride to the ferry for our return trip. We rented bikes to explore the island but that lasted one day after we experienced the multitude of hills. The next two days we rented scooters and enjoyed seeing the island and having some time to do some hikes as well. I have to say, I love the west coast! The people are relaxed and "real", the service was great, wherever we went, and nothing was a problem."
