  • Location, location, location!

"Our adult family of 6 enjoyed a week's stay at this charming, rustic panabode with beautiful views of Montague Harbour. The sun set directly in front of the deck where we enjoyed our dinners each night. It is certainly peaceful and serene. The house has a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of room for everyone. The decor is 70's time warp - which is part of the fun (remember cassette tapes?) The owner is very easy to deal with and answers your queries promptly. One minor problem is there is only one shower in the house and it is downstairs (the main living area and two bedrooms are upstairs) - so it was a bit of a scramble to have 6 adults scheduling showers. You are walking distance to the harbour where you can rent a boat, have lunch or rent a kayak. You are also walking distance to the best restaurant on the island (PILGRIMME). We enjoyed the resident heron who was on the dock each afternoon."

  • Cosy Cottage on Vesuivus Bay

"Upon arrival the sun shone on a most glorious patio/garden/ huge covered deck. The Wi-Fi was not working, but my handy husband soon fixed this, always good to be ready for anything with a VRBO rental. The light, and bright location, reflects the sea, and it is a great area for photography. Find the air of the trees, and gentleness. Yachts moor in the bay, canoes, lots of sea birds, and sunsets as it faces North West. Natural, and organic, leave the make up at home, you are part of looking after this Organic thoughtful Island home, and will be asked to compost/recycle and be aware of nature. Groceries a 20 minute drive away. A local shop closes when it feels like it so don't rely on this store for milk/bread/butter and newspaper. A garden area with fresh herbs, lemon trees, where our well behaved dog ran down to a stone beach through the double wooden gates was mowed, and well kept. We did see some brave swimmers in the sea, and Vesuvius Ferry was a 10 minute drive away, which we could see dock from the lovely view towards Ladysmith on Vancouver Island. A good licenced fish/chips take away, and more restaurant is a 10 minute stroll away. The white inside of the house is turn of the century, but dry, good fireplace with lots of dry wood for chilly October nights. The bedrooms were clean and dry with windows that opened. The one and only claw foot bathroom had no fan for ventilation, and this could be offered. A bug screen for the front patio door would be a good idea. A set of wooden shutters at the windows would be a good idea to shut out ferry lights. If you are versatile this will work, and always hot water, even though there were 6 adults. The master bedroom has a patio door with bug screen. The fireplace is a two way viewing so you will see the living room, and the lights on the harbour? Could do with a sort out in the cupboards before arrival, so there is a food storage area. We drove to the main shopping area of Ganges which has all you could wish for. Comfy cosy not luxurious, it is a good spot for a family of 6 for a 3 night stay. The boys watched the NFL on their computers on Sunday, so connection good. Stove old, Fridge old, Fridge outside needs moving from the back fire door exit. A good time at The Saltspring Island Apple Festival which is every October. Check the Saltsping website. Like the website offers the view is what you see and enjoy finding this Cosy Island Cottage waiting for you on Saltspring Island. in BC."

  • A Gem by the Sea

"Our family enjoyed a wonderful weekend get-away at this beautiful waterfront home on Galiano Island. The weather was glorious, the view from the property amazing, and we especially enjoyed watching the many otters, seals, bald eagles and herons. An amble along the rocks and water's edge was a pleasurable way to explore and have a leg-stretch. The cottage itself is perfect, well-planned with huge windows giving spectacular views of the ocean and beyond, and the owners have thought of everything that might be needed. It's an easy walk from a restaurant if you feel like eating out, or provide for yourself in the well-equipped kitchen. We would certainly recommend the Anchorage to anyone wanting a relaxing and peaceful stay on this Gulf Island, and we hope to return some day in the future."

  • Simply superb

"This is a wonderfully secluded and yet prominently located log cabin comfortably set back from the cliff that drops down to Active Pass. You get the sense of being perched in the clouds. The vista to the west is stunning, especially early morning and evening. The ferries all pass through and they are a pleasure to watch and to hear their whistles sound. The first one is early, but you want to be an early riser to enjoy every minute of your stay. While technically a cabin, it has all the comforts of home and is extremely well equipped. Keep an eye on the water below as we saw orcas swim by early one evening. The most magical aspect was the sound they make. The treck to the beach is rigorous, but if you are moderately fit, no problem, and well worth the effort. The hosts are extremely responsive and friendly, although there was nothing we needed. We had a 10 day stay, and enjoyed every minute."
