  • Beautiful house, Great location, Have recommended!

"My husband and I just got back from a month's stay at Sundancer. We have been going to Eleuthera for 17 years, and have stayed at Mon Soleil or Sundancer for the last 14. These houses are located on the most beautiful pink sand beach on Eleuthera. Swimming and snorkling are right in front of you. The Sundancer is a beautiful 3 bedroom home right on the beach. Edgar Gardiner, the property manager, is wonderful. He quickly resolves any problems we have. Beth and her husband usually respond to my emails within an hour. I had a problem with the internet router and emailed Beth, one hour later Edgar came to our door with a new router. Beth emailed me to make sure it was working! I love the house, and I love the location.. wouldn't be going to the same place for 14 years if I didn't think it was the best!"

  • Perfect Eleuthera cottage!

"A quick note about this review - it is based on expectations according to the property listing and information provided by the owner. I am not comparing to other properties or my version of the 'ideal' vacation home. I have to start with the rental process, which was simple and pleasant as always when working through Eleuthera Vacation Rentals. Matt, Juliana, and Tara are the best and represent a fantastic collection of properties. They are professional, friendly, responsive, and so helpful. We had the pleasure of meeting Matt on this trip and he is such a great guy! The whole team is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to planning our trip with them every year. The owner of Orchid Cottage, Shawna, was also great to work with. She provided lots of useful information about the cottage before we left and kept in contact during our trip. I had a few questions after settling into the cottage and Shawna responded immediately. Shawna also made one of the best suggestions ever during this trip - to arrange through the caretakers, Barry and Lachadra, to have an authentic Bahamian dinner prepared just for us (so delicious and a highlight for sure!). Speaking of Barry and Lachadra, they are super nice people. Lachadra welcomed us to the cottage with a big smile and hugs in that special Eleuthera way! They made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage was just the right size for my wife, teen daughter and me. It is not new, but was clean and fresh, and has that special something that only comes from age...lots of character. My wife is an interior designer, so aesthetics come into play when we are choosing a place to stay. Orchid Cottage is bright and cheery with comfortable furnishings and tasteful decorations. The bedrooms have air conditioners, which we used a few times at night, but otherwise the cottage catches a steady breeze during the day with windows open (we also had perfect weather during our stay, so that helped, I'm sure). The loft area is a storage space and not really usable by guests, but my daughter still wanted to hang out up there! I only mention that because I don't think it is obvious from the pictures or description. The beautiful beach is so close and it was nice not to have to pack up and drive every time we wanted our toes in the sand. Oh yeah, almost forgot...great front porch. Loved listening to the palm trees in the breeze. Orchid Cottage was just what we hoped it would be - already planning our next visit!"

  • Secluded property in paradise

"We really enjoyed our time on Windermere Island. The house is very nice and the bedrooms are spacious! Each has access to a bathroom including the single twin bedroom. The living area is open and nice for enjoying family. The home is nicely furnished and had lots of books, games, snorkels, and fins. There were lots of beach towels as well. We hired a chef, Kaynell Scavella, to prepare our meals and she was delightful. We planned each meal in advance and the food was amazing! We all miss Kaynell and Pebbles and the conch fritters. You can take the pool chairs to the beach - but it's not easy. So, we rented beach chairs and extra kayaks. The double kayak at Hamilton House is very nice. However, it's not recommended that you use these at the beach in front of the house as the water is rough and not as smooth as the Savannah Sound. Bobbette's (caretaker for the home) husband was able to take these over to the sound where the waters are calm, beautiful, and full of sea turtles. We really enjoyed kayaking there each day and it's a short bike ride away. The beach is very private (I think we saw 3 families the entire week). The home is situated near other cottage like homes that flank each side of Hamilton house down towards the beach (not visible in the picture of the property). I was thankful that we had a car as there are so many beautiful places to explore on Eleuthera. We spent one morning at Oceanview Farm near Governor's Harbour riding horses next to the ocean. I highly recommend this if you love horses. It was a treat for the group. We also hired Donald (Eleuthera Tours) to take us out to the Marker Cays. We snorkeled and found lots of sea biscuits and conch shells there. The boat was very small, but it was very nice and perfect for our family. We rode our bikes each night over to a dock at the end of the street to watch the sunset each night which was our favorite way end to each day. The home has good wifi and we only had one power outage (which is very common in the Bahamas). Fortunately, it didn't last very long. We traveled over to Harbour Island ($5/per person) for the day which was really fun. We rented a golf cart ($50) there and enjoyed lobster quesadilla's at Sip Sip. Finally, Matthew Simon (property manager), was extremely responsive and provided lots tips and helpful information to make our vacation truly special. If you are looking for a secluded piece of paradise - you will enjoy Hamilton House."
