  • Nothing like this Beauty

"if you're thinking me, you will not be disappointed. PROS: The view was absolutely breathtaking. The house was beautiful, everything was so unique. The master bedroom has a twin bed, which was very comfortable for our 12 year old. Each room has air conditioning. The market surprisingly had a lot of the foods and snacks that we love and it's about 5 minutes away. There are also some absolutely delicious restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner that are less than 5 minutes away, driving. Bruno and Corrine are such hard workers and were such a delight. My travel party included my 12 year old, husband, 2 of our best friends and my mom. It was just perfect. Bring your own snorkel gear as there is a ladder that leads to the sea and there is plenty to see. You will catch cruise ships coming and going. At night, the stars look amazing. Lizards and Iguanas for your viewing pleasure throughout the property. CONS: Mosquitoes were quite prevalent. We spent a lot of money purchasing mosquito repellent but I guess the mosquitoes loved me. I was bit at least 40 times. Thankfully, my daughter didn't get bit, probably because she stayed in the pool. My husband only got bit a few times. SUMMARY: All in all, I would stay here again, no question. La Calanthe is very Tranquil, peaceful, clean and absolutely stunning. I recommend a rental car. We've traveled to many places and often do not rent cars and rely on cabs, however, if we had taken a cab everywhere, we would have spent a ridiculous amount of money. Seriously, if you don't rent a car, you should probably plan on staying in your home or resort. The directions to get around are very easy, Surprisingly. Very Private! I can't wait to go back."

  • Unique villa with exceptional views and great location

"We loved our stay at Villa Karibuni on our recent vacation with our 2 small children (aged 4 and 6). The view is incredible and we especially enjoyed our time lounging on the deck in the mornings or afternoon/evenings and enjoying the pool and the view. Another highlight was utilizing the kayaks and taking them to Pinel Island for the day. It was windy while we were there so the kayaking was a fun challenge to Pinel but it was effortless coming back! The property is waterfront - just a few steps off the deck and you can be in the kayak heading to the nearby sand bar (amazing for photos) or Pinel. When we are in the Carribbean we enjoy exploring different beaches and areas but you could happily go to Pinel each day. Pinel island has lizards and hermit crabs in a certain area away from the beach that the kids discovered and this made Pinel especially fun for them. The water there is very calm too. The beaches we loved other than Pinel were Anse Marcel and Happy Bay a short walk from Friars Bay. We had considered staying in various hotels and were SO glad we chose this villa because we spent our days out and about exploring and when we came home we didn't feel we needed to go out again (unlike being in a hotel room). Since we have small children it was great to hang by the pool sipping cocktails and use the charcoal grill to prepare dinner with the delicious French ingredients available locally. The local village does have some great restaurants which we enjoyed a few nights too. A few small items were missing from the house but Manon was very responsive and made sure we had all we needed. She also can book reservations or excursions and even babysitters. The house was very clean and although not brand new it was nicely and simply appointed. The air conditioning worked just fine for us in the bedrooms and the rest of the house didn't need it because of the ocean breeze plus there is a huge fan. The whole villa has black out shutters so we all slept in! Manon also kindly provided us with snorkeling equipment and kids sand toys which was so nice. The pool has an alarm on it should you wish to use it which is great if you have small kids. I recommend you stay here - we will be going back!"

  • Great Family Vacation!

"We rented Seaside Retreat January 16-26! Yes, 10 days of Caribbean bliss! There were 8 family members in our group; all adults along with a 11 year old niece. The villa provided all the necessities of home. Each couple had their own bedroom along with its own bathroom which was a plus! The views from the patio were stunning day & night! The airport landings & takeoffs were tolerable & by the end of the time there it was something that you really didn't notice to much. The villa was close to attractions & some within walking distance. Jenny, the housekeeper, did a great job cleaning 3 times while we were there. She washed bedding, towels & cleaned bathrooms. There was plenty of hot water for the group at all times. All the kitchen appliances worked well. It might be a good idea to print off an online detailed map of the island before you come because there were not any to be found on the island. They did provide one but was very vague on street details. I would like to throw in a few things that may need attention. Not trying to be picky - just saying. *Internet was not very reliable at all. For the most part it was difficult to get connected. *Patio/pool were wonderful, the balcony could be a hazard to smaller children due to gap width in the railing. *Bathroom, kitchen & beach towels were getting thin. *Washing machine did not spin out the water. We informed Jenny & she seemed aware of the issue. *Would be nice to have lids for the frying pans in the kitchen. *Patio door screen looked like someone had fixed them in the past however they were in need of some attention as there were open gaps in them. Not good to keep out mosquitos and other bugs. Attractions we visited: *David's Pocket-beautiful! *Maho beach-cool watching airplanes land & takeoff plus good food at Driftwood beach bar. Plus shopping in Maho & eating at the 3 Amigos-good Tex-Mex. *Mullet Bay beach-stunning sunsets & relatively calm bay. *Pinel Island-relaxing & great snorkeling on the other side of the island. *Shopping in Phillipsburg-specifically visiting Juggie's Place "smallest bar in the world", his deal was 2 beers & a Cuban cigar for $2.99. The guys in the group this & enjoyed visiting with Juggie while the girls shopped in the nearby store. *Little Bay beach-nice & not many people. All in all Seaside Retreat did not disappoint. If we ever get the chance to return to Sint Maarten we would stay here again. Thanks Rick for sharing your villa! Stay well!"
