  • Loved this house!

"If you are looking for a peaceful, secluded, and immaculate vacation home with amazing ocean views, then look no further! We have stayed at many villas throughout the Caribbean, and Grapetree Escape is one of our favorites. The house design is well planned, nice open-concept, yet the bedrooms are very private with separate entrances and bathrooms. Better than the pictures depict. Although it was just two of us, this home is perfect for three couples or a large family – plenty of space. Our favorite features included the bump out on the deck for breakfast and late day cocktails/dinner, the extensive wrap around deck, and the covered outdoor patio by the pool - perfect mix of shade and sun throughout the day. The pool was the best - morning and evening swims between daily excursions. Gourmet kitchen was also a big plus since we love to cook. A few restaurants are within a quick car ride (highly recommend Cheese Burgers in America’s Paradise – we had Mahi & Snapper sandwiches and drank Pain Killers). Christenstead is a 15 minute drive and has great restaurants; we had an amazing dinner at 40 Strand Eatery. Lots of great beaches within a few miles, Knights Bay is a 10-15 minute walk from the villa and we had the entire beach to ourselves – nice snorkeling around the small pier. Must do: Point Udall (very close, 10 minutes by car): hike down to Issac/Jack Bays – unbelievable beaches with little or no people. Many thanks to owner Michael and villa manager Pam, both extremely helpful and hospitable. I have never had such a positive experience with renting a vacation home – top notch service. Last but not least: Mommacat was our pet away from home, always looked forward to her daily visits, we really miss her!! You will not be disappointed with Grapetree Escape Villa, a very special place!"

  • Wonderful Get Away Location in St. Croix

"The condominium is located in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The view is absolutely gorgeous. It has been recently updated and is simply lovely. It is a short drive to downtown Christiansted where you'll find shops and lots of restaurants as well as Fort Christiansvaern. You will want to rent a vehicle if you plan to explore Frederiksted, Cane Bay, or any of the many beaches since taxi service is expensive. Please note that Sandy Point is only open on the weekends. If you plan to drive through the rainforest you might want to consider a vehicle that has higher clearance than the little compact cars do. The main roads on the island are pretty good (even though there are a lot of potholes) but the side streets have huge speed bumps which caused the bottom of our little rental car to scrape no matter how slow we drove. Parts of the road in the rainforest were rocky and a little rutted. If you drive through the rainforest, consider visiting St. Croix Leap (Google for directions. Note: they are closed on Sundays and only accept cash or check.). It's a workshop where you'll find beautifully handcrafted pieces made from local mahogany. They will ship for you if you can't fit the piece in your luggage. There are lots of things to do on the island and this particular condo offers a great, restful place to come back to every evening. It was just the two of us but the condo is plenty large enough to offer space and privacy for at least 4. We highly recommend this unit. (Restaurants we liked: Blues Backyard BBQ, You are Here, and Galangal (all 3 in Christiansted) and the Beach Side Cafe in Frederiksted. The condo has a well appointed kitchen so we prepared some of our meals there. You can grocery shop at the Pueblo Supermarket on Northside Rd. (Rt. 75) in the Golden Rock Shopping Center.) (Places we visited and liked: Fort Christiansvaern, Cruzan Distillery, downtown Christiansted, and a drive along the coasts.) Note: you can walk the beach at Judith's Fancy but you'll have to check in with the guard and sign a waiver. Another note: Cruzan rum is about a dollar less per bottle at the distillery than it is at the local KMart. The distillery will pack your bottles well so you can take them home on the airplane. The airlines do not charge you to check the box which is great. However, they do still charge you to check your luggage. LOL! By the way, some of the restaurants are closed on Sundays. Sundays are a day off for many of the locals."
