  • Great place away from it all

"Our family of four spent 8 days there in August and loved it. if you want a really nice house with complete privacy, access to beautiful beaches, and a nice pool and hot tub, this is the place to go. flight from Newark to St Thomas was easy and the drive and ferry are too. The owners and management team are very accommodating and will make your stay very comfortable."

  • Beautiful and airy

"We had a great week on St John, largely thanks to this vrbo find. We loved so much about the space--the airy interior, comfy bed, substantial deck with delightful view, and outdoor shower. Tradewinds and fans provided ample cooling, and we enjoyed hearing the crickets at night. Great location, nestled in the hills yet close to restaurants and grocery stores. Sandy's hospitality made us feel right at home--thanks! The home was clean and kitchen well appointed. Wifi and stereo for ipod worked well. I was happy to have a break from a tv. One small word of caution: the driveway up to the home is barely drivable. Luckily, we rented a 4WD drive--the only way to navigate the rocks and cement gullies--but the mile-long road always felt much, much longer. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would (simply because of the difficult driveway). Overall, we absolutely loved the house and our stay on St John. Thanks!"

  • A little bit of heaven

"My husband and I started coming to St John in 1998, and have been on island every year since. Once Mahobay Camps closed, it was difficult to find an affordable alternative. Coral Bay Cottage is definitely an upgrade from a Maho tent, and perfect for a peaceful vacation for two! We have come to love Coral Bay and all it offers, including restaurants and easy access to beaches and hiking. Coral Bay Cottage is equipped with everything one needs for comfortable living and meal prep , and we were especially grateful on the 3 rainy days last week to have an airy, dry, beautiful cabin with stunning views high on the hill. We loved snorkeling at Haulover and Leinster, open mic at Concordia, and hiking into Drunk Bay. Melody and Tom are wonderful guides. We’ll be back next year for sure."

  • Great Views, Comfortable Villa for 5-6

"The views from the main living room and deck/pool/hot tub area are amazing. You get an incredible panorama of Coral Bay, East End, and Norman Island to the east, and Jost Van Dyke to the north. The large pool and hot tub were wonderful--a great way to relax at the end of the day. Beds were comfortable, showers were good (with just enough hot water), and the property managers left a stocked fridge, including chocolates, as we arrived on the Saturday before Easter. They also left plenty of towels, soap, and shampoo/conditioner. The villa was clean and comfortable, though the decor is a little dated. Parking off of Centerline Rd. was easy--it's not one of those crazy hidden driveways with a steep drop, you don't have to go off-roading for 10 minutes, and there's plenty of room to maneuver a large Jeep. Overall, my wife, son, mom, and brother had a really great time. We've stayed on St. John several times, and this has to be the best location we've ever had. Close to the north shore beaches and Coral Bay. Not too far from Cruz Bay, and walking distance to Colombo's Smoothies. My only complaint about the villa's location on its ridge would be the wind, which howled most of the day and night during our 6-day stay. I think it was partly just a particularly windy week on the island. But it's definitely windier at the villa, as there's nothing to block the tradewinds. Finally, my only complaint about the property management is a minor one--the DVD players didn't work. The one downstairs had no connecting cable at all, and the one upstairs had the wrong type of cable. When I tried to get them to address it, they were responsive, but never actually came out and fixed it. Maybe it's harder to get the right kind of cable on the island. Not a big deal, obviously, but they could have done better. But overall, a terrific villa for the price, particularly if, like me, your priorities are great views, good location, a pool, and a hot tub."
