  • Comfortable home in a quiet location

"We enjoyed staying at Tera's home. It was comfortable with a huge porch and wildlife all around us. There is one large bedroom with a very comfortable bed. There is a smaller bedroom with bunkbeds. The living room and kitchen are plenty big for a small group. It would be nice if they could stock salt and pepper and perhaps sugar so you don't have to buy it. Lots of towels available which was very nice and appreciated. I thought the shower was fine and the water got very hot if you wanted it to get hot, my friends thought it could have a little bit more water pressure. No one had any real complaints though! We felt very safe there. You are really in the wilderness out here which we enjoyed. We saw howler monkeys outside in the trees right behind the house. One day it rained very hard and we saw a caiman in the water below the bedroom window (2nd floor). So cool. Javier even killed a poisonous snake in our driveway. This is not a complaint. We were happy to be in a natural environment. I say this because if you are bringing children, I would stay with them in the yard just to be careful. We didn't get to see the sloth but we looked for it. The house is about a 5 minute taxi ride into town. You could walk into town but we didn't quite feel comfortable walking down the road because of the cars, but several locals were walking. You can walk the other direction and go over to a little beach place called Skully's. To go to a big beach, you will take a taxi into town and then hop on a water taxi, or you will take a taxi about 30-45 minutes (round trip was $35) then a water taxi. Javier was attentive, polite, friendly and helpful. He can call the taxi's for you and help make arrangements for trips if you like - this was very helpful. We were on a "girls trip" and we are well-traveled and independent. He checked in on us a couple times a day. Personally, we wanted a little bit more space from Javier, but we understand he was trying to be helpful and make sure we had a good visit. He is a very nice gentleman. All around great location, great house, great people! We had a very wonderful, amazing trip and this house was perfect for us. We appreciate Tera letting us stay here."

  • Perfect location on the island!

"This was a great place for a quiet girl's trip, a couple, or small family. We were three women who wanted a Caribbean vacation AWAY from the resorts and cruise areas. The home was clean, and in a perfect location for the ocean breeze. Travelers should know you must walk along a trail to reach the property, but the view, quiet location, and breeze is worth the walk. The caretakers were very kind, accommodating and helpful...one was even waiting for us with a light when we were not back before dark. The kitchen had basic supplies for cooking, although we had a little trouble with the propane tank. Santiago was quick to get us another one and help us connect it. One air conditioner worked well, but was very noisy. The other didn't work. The property manager quickly sent a repairman, but it was unrepairable. Sleeping was a bit warm in that bedroom! My only suggestion is to provide some sheets with a higher cotton content (I'm being very picky here). If you've looked into this area, you know that this island is still off the beaten path which has advantages, and some disadvantages. The people are extremely kind, but there was a mugging the previous month so be cautious walking at night. We (three women) felt very safe during the day. A local, named Rene', was a good guide if you want to take a day trip or go out at night. There was also quite a bit of trash everywhere, but the area around the home is relatively clean. On a calm day you can snorkel down the path, and the Firefly restaurant was a wonderful place to get a meal. The water taxis are easy to use and can take you anywhere in the area for a low cost. This was a great place for our adventure! Highly recommended!"

  • Panama at its best

"This terrific house was home to three couples for five nights in early April, and it could not have been better. The house was exceptionally clean and well equipped, and with three bathrooms, was perfect for our group. The large front porch was our favourite hangout. The staff at Azul Paradise resort next door, which manages the house, treated us like their own guests. And the best part was that because we had access to resort amenities, we had the best of both worlds - private accommodation and kitchen facilities but we used the resort restaurants when we didn't feel like cooking. We took advantage of the resort's snorkelling excursion packages and, for a group of scuba divers like ourselves, we were very impressed. The snorkelling was better than many of our dives. If you rent the house, don't miss the opportunity to visit Salt Creek and take a jungle tour. The beach was beautiful, the water was warm and the resident howler monkey was entertaining. It could not have been a better Panama experience."

  • Beachfront oasis

"After spending 3 weeks in a tiny little Casita in Coronado, we were thrilled to walk into this enormous beachfront oasis for the second half of our Panama vacation. The view is spectacular and the beach access divine. This is one of very few places we've found here with shade on the beach, courtesy of the palm trees and the man-made palapas just outside the secured access point. With lounge chairs you can roll onto the beach and the friendly guards watching over your stuff if you go for a walk, you can enjoy the beach here unlike in neighboring Coronado. We walked to the natural tidal pools at low tide and along miles of empty beach each day. The local fish market is a huge plus and we enjoyed the fresh catches of Tuna, Redfish, and Corvina. The unit itself is very clean and spacious with a large and well equipped kitchen, modern appliances and tremendous area for food prep. Seating in the living area is plentiful and comfortable. We only found a couple minor areas for improvement, we wish the bed was larger, and the cable service for the TV didn't work during our stay. Otherwise, it was perfect. There are 6 restaurants within a stone throw from local fonda to the top rated Bahia Beachfront restaurant and a choice of 2 local super minis. Transport to the highway is easy on the local bus for 30 cents and from the highway you can easily get anywhere from Penonome to the city in about an hour. Lots of activities here as well, a pool and foosball table, ping pong, gym, library of novels in the common area and good wifi in the unit. Staff are friendly and helpful. Booking was a bit more difficult with contracts and less payment options but worth the effort in the end."
