  • Perfect place

"Great location to take morning walk along Bay, through Fairhope or both. Very stylish and very roomy place (would be perfect for two couples or a family of 4). You can pretty much walk to everything and downtown has great places to eat (we ate somewhere different every night). Everything you need to prepare meals at cottage also. There is golf course within driving distance also. Great accommodations and a great little town to visit for a quiet and relaxing vacation."

  • Perfect cottage on the river!

"This is a wonderful property inside and out! Everything about the décor is perfect for a waterfront cottage, casual, but nicely upgraded. The screened porch is larger than pictured, and also includes a sitting sofa and a long picnic table. The large, two-level open outbuilding on the river allows for grilling meals or just sitting and relaxing on the river. We took the two-person kayak out daily and I swam in the river. There is a large high-def TV in the living room where we watched movies in the evening. The cottage is about 15 minutes’ drive from downtown Fairhope and Mobile Bay. Fairhope is a pretty town that offers some great restaurants and shopping, an art center, a walkway with fountain along the water and more. We took afternoon and evening strolls there, out onto the piers and along the beach, where swimming in Mobile Bay is also an option. We took a day trip to New Orleans, a little more than three hours’ drive, and to Gulf Shores, about an hour away. A spring getaway with outdoor activities in a warm destination and some southern culture were our goals for this trip. It delivered everything we anticipated. This cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway, a trip for a family of four, or for friends looking for a great vacation in the south. We had read about the history of Fairhope and found this cottage searching Home Away. This was our first trip there, and I believe we were the first guests at the cottage, newly offered this season. We did not meet the owners, but they were very friendly and answered all of our questions promptly via the email correspondence we had with them. I would definitely recommend this property for a lovely vacation!"

  • Lovely Guest Cottage in Fairhope

"This past month my husband and I have been celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and we stopped in Fairhope Alabama for a few days on our way back to Georgia from New Orleans. This was our first visit to Fairhope and we loved the town, the people, the restaurants, the shopping, everything--especially our stay at Surprise Landing Guest Cottage. Frank and Deborah were the perfect hosts and the cottage was a special place to kick back and relax. We particularly loved drinks or coffee on the pier and the wonderful bird show in the bay. We highly recommend a stay in this charmingly comfortable cottage that had absolutely everything we could need. We will be back! Joe & Marianne"

  • Very clean and very nice place.

"This is our second time at Kate's Place and my family loves it there. The access to Mobile Bay is awesome and really helps out when the jellyfish is a problem in the gulf. My family and I will keep returning as long as it is available. The owners are very nice and always there if you need them."
