  • Perfect cottage on the river!

"This is a wonderful property inside and out! Everything about the décor is perfect for a waterfront cottage, casual, but nicely upgraded. The screened porch is larger than pictured, and also includes a sitting sofa and a long picnic table. The large, two-level open outbuilding on the river allows for grilling meals or just sitting and relaxing on the river. We took the two-person kayak out daily and I swam in the river. There is a large high-def TV in the living room where we watched movies in the evening. The cottage is about 15 minutes’ drive from downtown Fairhope and Mobile Bay. Fairhope is a pretty town that offers some great restaurants and shopping, an art center, a walkway with fountain along the water and more. We took afternoon and evening strolls there, out onto the piers and along the beach, where swimming in Mobile Bay is also an option. We took a day trip to New Orleans, a little more than three hours’ drive, and to Gulf Shores, about an hour away. A spring getaway with outdoor activities in a warm destination and some southern culture were our goals for this trip. It delivered everything we anticipated. This cottage is ideal for a romantic getaway, a trip for a family of four, or for friends looking for a great vacation in the south. We had read about the history of Fairhope and found this cottage searching Home Away. This was our first trip there, and I believe we were the first guests at the cottage, newly offered this season. We did not meet the owners, but they were very friendly and answered all of our questions promptly via the email correspondence we had with them. I would definitely recommend this property for a lovely vacation!"

  • Charming Accommodations, Charming Hosts, Gorgeous Location!

"My husband and I had a fantastic, relaxing stay with the Moores! The cottage is wonderfully comfortable. Our hosts did everything the could to make our stay enjoyable, starting with the homemade cheese straws and the welcoming bottle of wine on the night of our arrival. Their private pier is a beautiful place to sit and watch the sun set. We had planned to try to do a little fishing, but the time got away from us! We would highly recommend choosing Surprise Landing for your getaway in Mobile Bay. Can't wait to find a way to get back for another visit soon!"

  • Perfect Location & well stocked kitchen!

"We relocated to the area and had the pleasure of staying at Kensington Court for six months during our transition. (8/15-1/16) This is a home, not a rental house. With three children, we cook! The kitchen had every imaginable item you would need to cook any meal, including a holiday meal. We spent Christmas in the home. The Location on Fairhope Avenue is extremely convenient to everything downtown, as well as the grocery store, schools, sports fields & Post Office. It's located on a quiet cul-da-sac in a safe neighborhood. We were fortunate to find it! We enjoyed our stay and it made for an easy transition to this quaint town."

  • Property was found to be as advertised. No surprises. Very clean and well maintained.

"Property was well maintained and well supplied with items needed for a stay, i.e. kitchen hardware, laundry equipment, etc. The light switch locations took a little bit of figuring out, but this was only a minor issue. The back porch was a nice touch overlooking the bay and the breeze made it very comfortable. We did not use the private beach and did not do any fishing due to the coolness of the weather. The individual bedrooms were very comfortable and the master bedroom in particular, was exceptional. The property was very clean and appeared to be well maintained, although there were a number of light bulbs that needed changing, but this did not impact our stay. We found some great restaurants in Daphne and Fairhope. I will probably do a return stay."
