  • Affordable getaway tucked away in the woods

"I had never stayed in Guerneville prior to this trip. This is a bit of a bohemian community and Kathy and Jim's place is no exception. The cottage is tucked away under some redwood trees at the edge of their property. The unit is clean, furnishings are nice, and the bed was exceptional. While they live on the property as well (main house), I went two days without seeing a soul so it is quite private. There is a nice hot tub that is always "on" and I took advantage of that on a couple of nights. There are plenty of places to eat and drink locally. The weather in this area is exceptionally moderate; unlike Bodega Bay where I encountered gale force winds off the ocean. It is located in a residential community but it didn't feel like other homes were on top of me. There is plenty of off street parking. The location is away from the main street area of Guerneville by a mile or so; far enough to avoid traffic, crowds, and noise. Kathy and Jim are exceptionally nice people; available if needed but not intrusive. I envisioned that this property is where Neil Young would have lived had he not become rich and famous. The only issue I had was with the wifi; it is quite strong in some areas of the property but not very strong in the cottage. Also, if you have ATT cellular, don't plan on making any calls. Zero bars here and in much of Guerneville."

  • One word.... AMAZING!!

"This house was so amazing!! We had 9 people in our group and there was more than enough room for everyone to relax and have fun. The children (4 of them age ranging from 16 - 12) basically had their own wing! 2 twin beds and a set of bunk beds and a big screen t.v., leather sectional, their own bathroom and kitchenette! The dinning room was big enough to fit our family with out having to bring extra tables in, which is rare for us. LOVED the peace and quiet of the neighborhood, all you can hear are the birds, wildlife and the wind through the trees. It was also really nice to be close to Armstrong Woods. To walk through with these tall giants was amazing. We would all stay here again."

  • It has everything!

"This is a great place! From beds to boats- it has it all. 3 bedrooms, 7 seats on kayaks/canoe, foosball, ping pong, and a hot tub to satisfy all ages. Full kitchen with a lot of staples and spices. Level of cleanliness of the couch and beds and the rest of the house made us feel comfortable and at ease. Kids loved the board games and ample tv channels. 5 min drive to Guernville with a Safeway, shops, food, and a brewery. Korbel winery is only 10 mins away. It was fun watching the bats at night in the hot tub with the Milky Way galaxy haze in the background. Be prepared for a quick maintenance visit by the spa man Fridays at 10am. Great trip and accommodations!"

  • Family Fun Getaway!

"This house was perfect for our weekend away from the city. We had our three young children with us as well as our small dog. First of all, the location is perfect. You can walk to the beach, downtown with several good restaurants, mini golf and a playground which is right across the street. Even though it is close to so much, the house still feels very private with a large fenced in yard and very comfortable and spacious deck. The kids loved riding their bikes up and down the driveway while we cooked on the grill. We were there during some pretty hot weather and were pleasantly surprised at how cool the house stayed. The bedrooms are great, especially the master upstairs which had plenty of space and privacy. We appreciated all the details- doggie treats for our pooch, toys for the kids and a bottle of wine for us! This is a great house for a Russian River getaway!"
