  • Wonderful couples getaway!

"This place was just perfect. The cottage was a great space and provided us comfortable sleeping(nice bed and big, clean bathroom) along with living and kitchen amenities. The living room fireplace was wonderful...We sat in front of it a lot while watching Thanksgiving day football...Thanks for having DirecTV! There was also an outdoor firepit and seating area. You feel secluded on this vineyard with the hills of vines and stars at night but are less than 10 minutes from Healdsburg. You can drive off the property and have your choice of winery...But make sure to visit Reeve...Wines and setting are great! My husband and I will definitely be back."

  • Charming Cottage with Great River Views

"We stayed two nights at the beginning of April 2017. The Mallard Manor is a wonderful little vacation home perched right on the Russian River. The house was a nice size for two people and served as a great home-base for outdoor excursions and trips into the wine country. The house is quaint and lives up to its namesake with all sorts of duck-related decorations adorning every nook and cranny! The deck is wonderfully relaxing and totally fenced in, which was nice for our dogs to safely join us. The house itself has good double-pane windows and doors that kept noise from the road, and our neighbors at the time (late night partying), to a minimum. The bathroom and kitchen are small but adequate. Everything about the home basically met our expectations from the pictures, description, and reviews. The reasons for four stars and not five are relatively minor but noteworthy: 1) The main bed was like a brick - if you like a firm mattress then this one is for you, but honestly, it was difficult to sleep on if you are used to anything even remotely more plush (or are a side or stomach sleeper), 2) The pull-out sofa beds, although we didn't need them for this stay, are dilapidated, and if we would have invited other adult friends to stay with us would have been totally insufficient. One of the two sofa-sleepers was non-functioning according to a note in the house itself, and the other sofa-sleeper was showing its age (one corner had totally broken support springs, and the mattress was shoddy and worn out). So, that is why I suggest this cottage is great for a couple only, at least until the owners update the other sleeping accommodations. Linens, blankets, flatware, and cookware are all in need of updating/replacing due to wear and tear in my opinion. But, everything was clean and functional and met our expectations in this regard. Overall, this was a wonderful vacation rental. But, I wanted to point out these small issues in the review hopefully for the benefit of the owners/property managers, because I honestly think that some minor improvements to the accommodations could really make Mallard Manor a five-star stay."
