  • Cozy, Quiet, and Comfy

"Our family of 5 stayed in the Star cabin for several nights over Thanksgiving. The communication with Angie leading up to our stay was great. She contacted us and asked if we had any questions or needed anything special for our stay. The communication has been outstanding after as well. One of our children left his Kindle Fire and Angie has been great in working out a plan to return it to us. As soon as we pulled up to the cabin we were swept away with excitement. My wife is not a huge 'mountain' person but she was immediately drawn into the excitement when she saw the cabin. It is the perfect size for our family of 5. I don't think you'd want to many more than 5, but you could always rent out both cabins for more space! The kids spent a ton of time in the 'fort' and came up with numerous games to play. The also utilized the sun room as part of their entertainment. The sun room was a great place to watch for wildlife and take in the views of the lake. The queen bed was comfy for the adults and we slept great! My daughter slept on the futon with no complaints. The large windows on the top level offer an amazing view of the lake and surrounding mountains. I enjoyed getting out of bed and opening the blinds and watching the sunrise each morning. The lower level offered just the right amount of comfort for our family. We brought some board games and spent time playing them and watching the Turkey day football games. We prepared our Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen and had no problem fitting a 12 pound turkey in the oven. We had brought most of our food for the trip with us and we quickly filled the refrigerator. I think it's important to note it's not a full size refrigerator like you have at home so plan accordingly. All the utensils, pots, pans, etc we needed to cook and eat our meals were already stocked in the cabin. There were even some spices and condiments available if needed. We saw fox on several occasions around the cabin, but that was the only wildlife we saw. We asked some people in Grand Lake and they said we were too late in the season to see any moose, but the deer and elk were around. Speaking of Grand Lake, we spent several afternoons there. It's a short drive from the cabin and the restaurants and shops are fun to check out. Sagebrush was amazing! Overall, we had a great time and a great experience working with Angie. We highly recommend the Star Cabin for your next trip!"

  • Very nice property

"Loved waking up in the morning and having coffee on the front patio. Fun was had by all, wished the property was what my first impression that it was on the lake. But not far away. Need a vehicle to be able to carry kayaks to the lake. All things you need for your stay they have. It was hard figuring out the lighting system, especially in the main bedroom. Also the lights on the porch need to be fixed, they are loose so don't always come on. Was a little harder to play games out on the deck at the nights we played. But very spacious. Loved all the patios from the main, and upstairs. Made it very nice to do things on your own. Everything was very clean. I would go back again. The last day was spent just hanging at the house, no need to go anywhere since it had a great homey feeling."

  • Tranquil

"We have a family of 6 so it's not always easy to find affordable places to stay. This far exceeded our expectations. Was well kept, quiet, and the fully stocked kitchen was great. We loved sitting out on the porch at night and taking in the scenery. With a 9, 10, 12, and 13 year old this place was exactly what we wanted with our trip. There's no wifi so it forced the kids to put down the electronics and enjoy each other and the outdoors around us. We will definitely be looking to stay here again when we make our next trip! Big bonus seeing that Pat and Spike have roots in Iowa where we are from, so really enjoyed doing business with a fellow Iowan."
