  • Roomy and Remote - Wildlife Included

"We had a great time at this secluded log home. Indeed, it is secluded, in that it requires driving on somewhat lengthy gravel roads to reach the home. But, once we found it, the home was very accommodating and wonderful. Plenty of room in the common areas and bedrooms to handle the 11 folks we had staying there. The construction of the home with the large log walls and stone chimney certainly added to the remote feel of being away from the hustle of normal life. We had mule deer visit every morning as well as some wild turkeys. The large mud/drying room was great to store skiing gear and let it dry out at the end of each day we skied at Schweitzer. It is not a long distance to Schweitzer but it does take about 45 minutes to drive there from this log home. The owners were very helpful and cooperative in making sure the place was ready for our arrival and with input we gave them afterwards. We had a great time and would recommend staying here to others."

  • Beautiful site

"We had a great time at this large, rustic style, but modern home in a beautiful location. The house was comfy. The rooms are spread out over the house so that there is plenty of privacy for members of the group. Each bath is equipped with everything you need and the kitchen had all of the dishes, utensils, and cookware necessary for meals. We especially enjoyed the large decks that overlook the lake. The view was amazing, but our group spent most of our time IN the water. We were there during a heat spell, which made it easy to get in! Back to the decks: We served meals there, but also enjoyed it for reading, watching the stars at night, and watching our group playing in the water by day. There is also a yard below the deck to put the lounge chairs on and stretch out. Beyond that is a small beach area & large boat ramp. So there are plenty of areas for conversations and relaxing. The swimming area was perfect for our kids. The river may as well be a lake with the advantage of not being so huge that you couldn't paddle board to the other side. The water in this location is very smooth and calm, which made it easy for everything - kayaking, water skiing, etc. Another thing about this spot - there is plenty of privacy. There are neighbors, but they are far enough away so that you feel like you are in your own space, yet near enough to exchange friendly greetings from time to time. The whole area is definitely out in the country. Richard is a great host. He is just a phone call away if anything should come up. He even arranged to have a Pack N Play for the baby! What a nice guy. I would love to come back to this lovely retreat, where we created great memories."

  • Winter views and walks on the shore

"Wonderful place to stay for a few days while skiing Schweitzer and visiting Sandpoint. We liked the Ponder Point location with easy 10 minute access to Sandpoint and easy access to Schweitzer mountain. The lake loses about 6--8 feet of water in the winter months, but it turned out that this made it wonderful for walking on the shore line and exploring the area - ttoal surprise that we loved each morning. The view and the lighting from the living room are wonderful. Hot tub views can't be beat. Nice downstairs for tv watching and lounging which keeps the upstairs for conversation and reading and looking across the lake. Kitchen was great for cooking and eating with kids as well. Two notes - home is a little dark upstairs, but nothing that causes problems. Floors are a little slippery for kids (and adults) in socks. We were a small group, but you the price was perfect for the quality and convenience of this house, even with just our 4 person family. We kept saying that it must be incredible in the summer because of all the outdoor amenities, but even in winter, it was a blast. Thank you for letting us share your home."

  • Christmas Getaway - Excellent Property

"We rented the property for a post-Christmas holiday weekend. It was perfect for our extended family group of 12. The home is clean, updated and fully-stocked with all the kitchen items, linens and paper products you would need. The home has 3 bedrooms, (2 with King-size beds, 1 with a bunk bed) and multiple pullout sofas. The "mother-in-law" unit is a short walk from the house- it has a sofa bed on the main floor and a loft with a full size bed. The property is very secluded which makes it tricky to find but the privacy and quietness can't be beat. We were lucky to stay at a time when there was an abundance of snow-the driveway and walks were cleared when we arrived. Easy drive to Schweitzer and Sandpoint. It would be great in the summer too! Mike, the property manager checked in daily to see if we needed anything. And what a nice welcome to find a bottle of wine and snacks on the kitchen counter when we arrived. I truly have nothing negative to say about the property. We would not hesitate to stay here again!"
