  • Lovely spacious home with something for everyone!

"The listed description was accurate. The furnishings, beds, towels, kitchen were all of high quality. We loved the spacious home with plenty of large spaces for our family to gather together, as well as places to go and read, or be alone. The open kitchen/eating areas is a wonderful space for lots of people to help or hang out. The owner provided excellent service. I would definitely recommend it for families or groups of friends. We enjoyed visiting the Norman Rockwell museum, the Shaker Village (could have spent half a day there), and LOVED wandering around W. Stockbridge(renown artist's workshop who provides mobiles to top museums), and shopping/ice cream in Lenox. We missed the season of Jacob's Pillow and Tanglewood shows-- will try to catch them next time!"

  • Peaceful

"We spent a week here with our son, daughter-in-law and twin 7-year old grandsons. The house is clean, well cared-for and comfortable. Lots of windows with good ventilation and natural light. The front porch has a nice roof overhang that makes it a great place for al fresco meals or games or hanging out in wet weather. Beds are comfy. Having 2 bathrooms is a plus with that many people in the house. Bring your own body wash and shampoo. Kitchen is in good shape, with a fridge, range, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and Mr. Coffee that takes ground coffee. (Don't expect to use your K-cups.) Washer and dryer in the basement. There is a TV and a satellite dish, but there was no signal while we were there. As a backup, there are a ton of DVDs for movies. Lake Garfield is beautiful. Not very deep. Has a fair amount of bottom vegetation - but pretty good fishing and wonderful for boating - kayaks to powerboats. In front of this property, the lake is shallow and doesn't lend itself to diving or jumping off the dock. But the dock is a great place to sit and enjoy morning coffee. There are two canoes and, I think, 3 kayaks. (We brought our own kayaks.) There's also a small aluminum rowboat that would be a good fishing platform. There is a nice 4 burner gas grill and a firepit. Make sure to pick up dry firewood at the Monterey General Store downtown on the way to the place. DO NOT BRING FIREWOOD FROM OUT OF STATE. Massachusetts does not want you to accidentally import the invasive Emerald Ash Borer with firewood you bring from home! I'm told AT&T phones work OK here. We have Verizon. Service at 1 bar is sporadic - and forget about 4G ... BUT isn't that why you go on vacation? to get AWAY from the darned thing?"

  • PERFECT!

"This house was absolutely perfect for me and my family. We stayed the whole week leading up to my wedding and had such a marvelous time at the beach( 2 min walk down the road) , BBQing on the back porch, kids couldnt be dragged away from the swings in the yard!, cooking and checking out Tanglewood, MASSMoca, The Red Lion Inn etc. This house is perfectly located! So close to all the places I love and yet seems like a quiet lakeside sanctuary. The neighborhood is lovely and everyone we met was very sweet. Truly had the best time! Thank you Craig!"

  • College Roommates

"My college roommates & I get together 1x/year & this year we wanted to stay near the Clark Art Institute. This house was perfect for our get together! Carol was easy to work with & very responsive to emails. Mid October is a wonderful time to visit the Berkshires - the colors were amazing! A bit too cold to enjoy the water but the scenery from the dock was lovely. The house was cozy, warm, spacious, very comfortable & very clean. The living room with the glass walls was lovely & we enjoyed feeling like we were surrounded by nature. Although, the house isn't lake front - you could see a bit a of the lake from the living room. We enjoyed using the well equipped kitchen & sleeping on such comfortable beds. Many wonderful towns/activities were close by. Not having WiFi made it a little more challenging to make plans but we managed to figure out where we wanted to go without it:)! Would definitely stay here again!"
