From the property there is easy access to walking and cycling trails (we have mountain bikes for hire and recommended walks), skiing in winter, tennis and mini-golf. We have table tennis, table football, badminton, DVDs, CDs, books, games and our own small shop with mainly organic products, open 24/7. Sauna, massage, facials, & small gym. Guest coffee lounge, schnaps tastings, barbecues.
The local people are friendly and helpful, and you get a real feeling of local Bavarian life here. In summer, there are beer and medieval festivals every weekend in the area. We provide a huge file of excursion and restaurant ideas with all of our 'insider' tips and favourite places.

We are a British couple living at our apartments in Bavaria since 2005. After we bought our first house here, we found that we loved the area so much, we wanted to be here almost full time. So we are usually here to welcome our guests and are available during their stay to help out with questions, arrange tickets, book restaurants etc.
Why the Owner Chose Bayerisch Eisenstein
We have a publishing company specialising in business information on Eastern Europe so we are occasionally away on business trips - the reason we bought property here was the convenient location, with Prague and Munich just a couple of hours away and Vienna and Frankfurt an easy half day drive away. We chose this location partly because it is lovely for holidays all year round, with plenty of snow in winter for skiing and walking in the forest and lots of things to do and places to visit in the rest of the year. While this is a holiday area, it is never really busy and crowded.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
The clean air, spring water, peace and quiet and friendliness of the people are the joys of being in the Bavarian Forest. The National Park is so close to our houses, you can almost reach out of the windows and touch the trees. Our houses are in a small community on the edge of the village and this is country life as it used to be. The cost of living is also lower here than in the UK! There are some excellent restaurants in the village and nearby and it is great to be able to walk to them as well as to the supermarket and the station - the hourly train service to and from the village is a real bonus.

We rented the first floor of House Peter and the apartment was GREAT! It had three bedrooms each with there own bathroom and shower. The apartment was in prestine condition and the kitchen was fully equipped. Margaret and Martain are perfect host and are well organized. They provide binders full of information regarding activities and sights to see in the area as well as trips to take that are an hour or two away. If you like hiking and the outdoors this is a perfect location. The entrance to the national forest is roughly three-hundred feet down the road and the trails are excellant. Great for biking too! The train station is about a 10 minute walk and we used it twice, once to visit Passau and once for Regansburg. Margaret and Martain also provide a little store that has the basic essentials if you need them, food, beer, candy, and etc. They also provide in the apartment coffee, tea, olive oil, butter, and a few other items that you usually need for cooking but usually don't pack for vacation. My family and I highly recommend this location and we all agreed this was the best place we stayed during our three week vacation in Europe.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

We stayed at the Haus Sterr - just returned - and had a wonderful time. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. They even gave me a cooking lesson in our apartment! What a nice benefit that they provide breakfast your first morning. We would love to come back again during ski season!

My wife and I returned to Bayerisch Eisenstein after our first stay two years ago with Bavarian Forest Holidays. Our apartment backed to the forest--beautiful views, fresh air and total privacy! We used local trains and busses (both free if you don't have a car with you!) and explored new places, returned to villages we've visited in the past--and had a totally spontaneous week filled with anything and everything WE wanted to do. Great restaurants in town. Lots of exercise walking to/from the train station. The proprietors (Martin & Margaret) are amazing hosts. The apartments are modern, clean, and have everything you could possibly need. Definitely sign up for their German cooking class where someone comes to your apartment and teaches you how to cook a complete and authentic German meal--it was the highlight of our trip!

We had a wonderful stay. You apartment is all and more of what you say. Germany, Czech Republic and Austria were all places we visited while here and we enjoyed all of them. Our 2 1/2 months at Haus Martin were excellent. We loved the walks, the tennis, the neighbours, the accommodation and - most of all - the generous and 'above the call of duty' hospitality of our hosts. If we had problems, or needed a recommendation or a new sight to see, they came through brilliantly. All in all, it has been one of the best vacations we have ever had. Our German has even improved!

We cannot thank you enough for our phemomenal accommodation. The information folders and the local area details were used regularly. The detail and cleanliness of Haus Peter was incredible. The area was gorgeous and the day trips to Cesky Krumlov (Mlyn retaurant) and Plzen (brewery tour) were most memorable.
