Eco-good fun awaits in Las Conchas
The Intercultural Center for the Study of Deserts and Oceans (CEDO) is an incredible addition to the Las Conchas community. It’s the eco-adventurer’s first stop—and it should be yours if you’ve come to Puerto Penasco with a dream to explore new locales (and show them off on social media, natch). Nearby La Ostioneria, an oyster farm, will make you feel like a local fast. You’ll watch the oysters as they’re removed from the sand, shucked, and served. You wouldn’t dream of leaving Las Conchas without some seafood, after all!
Water here, water there, water everywhere
It would be criminal to book a Las Conchas vacation rental and miss out on the wonderfully warm waters of the Sea of Cortes. Whether you’re swimming, kite surfing, sailing, or snorkeling, you’ll have an amazing time. Ecotourism is a big deal in this area, too. Enjoy a guided tour of the Pinacate Biosphere, explore the fascinating fauna in the Sea of Cortes, and make the trek to the Gran Desierto de Altar. If you’re a serious thrill-seeker, kick the adrenaline into high gear and book a motorized glider to fly you over the beach.
Warm is trending in Las Conchas
It’s comfortable and warm throughout most of the year. Summer’s highs reach about 84 degrees, while winter dips to about 60 degrees. Fall is especially pleasant, with highs topping out at about 75 degrees. Rainfall is minimal, so you don’t need to worry too much about packing those boots—a light jacket, though, is a good idea if you’ve booked your Las Conchas vacation rental at any point in spring or fall, and it can get breezy by the water come nightfall. If you’re thinking nothing but water, it’s best to book in the spring, when the water warms.
What to see when you’re by the sea
Sand dunes and plush white-sand beaches abound in the Rocky Point community. If you’re feeling bold, a trip to nearby San Jorge island will reward you with incredible opportunities to spot marine life, including dolphins and sea lions. Otherwise, you could stay in the confines of your Las Conchas vacation rental and still never be more than steps from the sea. But if you do venture out, the Pinacate and Great Desert of Altar Biosphere Reserve offers awe-inspiring views of craters and lava flows from its deep, winding roads.
