Location: Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexican Riviera, Mexico (8 miles North of Acapulco in Pie de la Cuesta)

Accommodations:  Villa, 5 Bedrooms, 5.5 Baths (Sleeps 10-12)

Our home is located along a quiet stretch of beautiful beach on the Pacific Ocean. Early morning sightings of dolphins and whales are not uncommon and the sunsets are magnificent.

The Villa has five air-conditioned bedrooms; three on the second floor and two on the first floor each with either a queen, double or twin beds, and private bath. Verandas on both floors provide a seating area for each bedroom. There is a powder room on the first floor off the kitchen. Towels, sheets and beach towels are provided.

Just a few steps from the main house is the gazebo. The back half is an air-conditioned TV/game/lounge room; the front half is a covered veranda adjacent to the pool area with Barb’s Tiki Bar and a small refrigerator. Our pool will provide lounging and the opportunity to cool off in the heat of the day, all overlooking the beach and ocean just a few feet away.

The house is in a quiet neighborhood that includes a school, restaurant and small convenience store as well as other homes. Our property is completely walled with twenty-four hour security service provided by a gentle, but loud barking, German Shepard named Junior.

Daily housekeeping service will be provided by Xochilt and can include cooking, laundry and ironing, at an additional charge. Satellite TV and phone service is included.

  • We had a wonderful time at Villa Barbara, enjoying the house, pool and beach. Xochilt is an outstanding housekeeper, very good cook, full of tips and local information, and helpful with those of us learning Spanish. The beds were all very comfortable. The bedroom A/C was much appreciated during the hot weather we had. The satellite TV was great. We loved cooling off in the pool and its water slide and waterfall. Once we took a few minutes to pick up the litter on the beach, we loved the view of the ocean and frequently played on the beach. The undertow of the waves is quite strong, so it’s important to be careful. Junior is a well-behaved, effective guard dog. We saved some money by riding the local bus for 4.5 pesos into Pie de la Cuesta or Acapulco rather than take taxis or hire a driver. We were pleased to learn that soldiers from the nearby Fuerza Aerea Mexicana patrolled the beaches at night to ensure the safety of residents and tourists and to gather sea turtle eggs to incubate and release without the interference of those locals who like to eat them. Our last day there we saw several dolphins playing in the water! All in all, adults and children alike thoroughly enjoyed our restful, interesting stay.
