Charming apartment

This apartment was comfortable for a couple wanting more space than a hotel room. The kitchen was well stocked and the coffee machine was a treat. Our week went far too quickly. The stairs to the 3rd floor was sometimes a little tiring for us oldies, but we didn't mind on most occasions. Geoff and Melinda were a delight to deal with and the booking and subsequent stay was smooth and enjoyable. We found the metro easy to use and the choice of stations nearby was handy.

Far from the (Paris) madding crowd...choose for a comfortable respite

We were 2 couples but managed in this delightful apartment (2-3 persons ideal). The apartment is well-appointed (and well-priced) and a great respite after all the crowds in the 'monuments' part of Paris. For an 'off the tourist grid' experience we highly recommend this apartment. We have even asked the owner for a quote for a one-month rental! The metro (Chateau Landon) is close and the apartment is an easy walk to the Marais and the Bastille. However, the area has all you will ever need (restaurants, take out, groceries). To have a water view in Paris is a real treat and watching the operation of the canal from the dining room window is daily must. The bedroom offers one of the quietest sleeps we have ever had in Paris. The owner was wonderful to deal with and very responsive to all of our questions. The photos are bang on. Missing is a picture of the kitchen (fully stocked) and the bathroom. Both are more than adequate to meet a travellers needs.

Great Apartment, Beautiful Neighborhood, Attentive Hosts

We had an amazing time at the Canal St Martin apartment. The space was perfect for 3 people, and the apartment came with a bottle of wine, cookies, tons of books and movies... not to mention a billiards table! we had several great nights playing billiards, drinking champagne, and listening to the sound of falling water from the canal lock across the street. The neighborhood has a young feel to it, and the canal is a great spot to sit with some wine, cheese, and a baguette and watch night fall - a little version of the Seine right outside your door. The host, Geoff, was professional and courteous in all our conversing, and when we had an issue with hot water the second day, he was available and got the problem fixed very quickly. I would highly recommend this apartment, and would stay in it again.

This was our first time in Paris and had no real expectations. We were pleased beyond a doubt. The photos and description were indeed as stated. The flat was easy to find and very centrally located to the metro and Gare Est & Gare Nord. The property was clean and well maintained and in a very quaint and friendly neighbourhood. We chose to do pick up some food at the local store and then realized that there were many bakeries etc that had ready made sandwiches etc to pick up and a great little pizza place for those who are on a budget like us. If a travel into Paris at night seemed over whelming, you need not make that entire journey. Canal St. Martin has its own ambiance and appeal. Wine & cheese by the canal proved to be equally romantic. On the same note, walking in this district and/or taking the metro into Paris was both safe and efficient. We found the local people very friendly even though our French was somewhat lacking. They were cordial and willing to accommodate all our requests and questions. I would definately recommend this location for convenience, affordability, cleanliness, atmosphere and peace of mind. The only insight I would offer is that the flat is located on the 3rd floor with a large spiral staircase and no elevator. This, however, is part of the heritage and appeal of its history. It would definately not discourage us from renting the flat again. If you are going to drink wine & eat cheese & lots of bread, you welcome the exercise as we did! Above and beyond the flat details, I feel it should be noted that the owners were professional, honest, helpful and quick to respond to all my email inquiries. The experience was unforgettable. Thank you so much for giving us this memory. To all who may rent this, enjoy Paris.....it is magical!!
