Estavayer-le-Lac villa description
My Lady’s Manor is a romantic, hundred year old manor surrounded by a spacious garden. Our exotic trees include a sequoia, a giant tuya and a Japanese cherry tree. Our graveled paths are bordered with pink hydrangeas which turn scarlet in the autumn.
A friendly and relaxed atmosphere awaits you and your family. In these pleasant surroundings you will enjoy renewing old family ties getting to know new family members. You will not feel like you are in a hotel. You will feel at home.
In July and August we operate as a Bed & Breakfast, renting individual rooms. See our website for more information.
My Lady’s Manor is located in Estavayer-le-Lac, a small charming walled city that has survived intact from the Middle Ages. You will be delighted with its narrow cobblestone streets, 15th century houses, lakeside cafés and terraces with excellent French cuisine. Elderly family members and children appreciate the Petit Train for getting about. Young people will love the sport facilities, and the only water ski tow in Switzerland.
Keywords: Stately House, 100 year old manorhouse, in a beautiful garden setting. Located in a medieval walled city on lake Neuchatel in French-speaking Switzerland. You will love our small city with its castle, convent, museum, beaches and port.
Our lake is connected to two other lakes by canals. We are located near the railway station and a small supermarket. There are lots of restaurants and catering firms serving french and suisse cuisine.
In July and August we operate as a B&B.

Wonderful MansionGuest comment entered by owner
We spent our family vacation in this wonderful mansion with 17 beds, enough for our large family reunion. The location was ideal. We were close enough to many wonderful activities such as Roman ruins, medieval castles, hiking in the swiss alps etc. to keep our family entertained. Phyllis was so gracious to give us a two hour walking tour of the city which has a charming feel and atmosphere. The house had a lot of history and each room was large enough for each couple to feel they had enough space to relax in. We definitely would recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in the area. This is the place to stay when visiting Switzerland.
This is the place to stay when visiting Switzerland.
My family traveled overseas for the first time to represent the USA at a World Sporting Competition being held in Neuchatel, Switzerland. I cannot tell you how my first experience in overseas could have gone any better. The owner/hostess of My Lady’s Manor was extremely helpful even before we arrived. Since I had never traveled overseas, I was a constant email nag to Phyllis (owner/hostess) to provide information about Switzerland and things which had nothing to do with her bed and breakfast. She never hesitated to provide help or point me in the right direction. When we arrived at My Lady’s Manor, it only got better. The bed and breakfast was beautiful, spacious, and convenient. With a grocery store across the street and the train station just a few more steps away, we were never wanting anything we could not easily access. The town of Estavayer-le-Lac was absolutely charming and provided the setting for many enjoyable evening walks past shops and along the lake. I would highly recommend My Lady’s Manor to anyone visiting Switzerland. Even though we arrived in Switzerland for a stressful, tightly scheduled sporting event, My Lady’s Manor seemed to magically transform the entire week into a calm, tranquil, and absolutely pleasant experience/event.

A Walker's Paradise
A Walker's Paradise
If you are familiar with walk scores, My Lady's Manor, in the thriving town of Estavayer, surely scores a perfect 100! Only steps from the train station with its hourly connections, the location affords many leisurely day trips--ours included trips to Murten, Interlocken and Lavaux Vineyards complete with a cruise on Lake Leman (Geneva) and a petite train tour of the vineyards originating at the pier in Lutry. With a grocery across the street and other bakeries, butcher shops, restaurants, banks, drug store, post office and all manor of small shops there is nothing needed you can't find. We enjoyed the quiet meditation afforded by two ancient chapels--the Collegiate Church of Saint Laurent and the chapel of the Dominican sisters. Our group of 10 enjoyed My Lady's Manor for its historic charm, its spaciousness--both inside and out, its places to come together to eat, cook and visit and for the privacy and comfort of its bedrooms. In our eight days there, it quickly felt like home. Phyllis is the perfect hostess with a humorous and vibrant knowledge of the town's history. Her help before our arrival, our time there and her kind send-off will be remembered by all of us for years to come!

Our Family Reunion in Switzerland
Our Family Reunion in Switzerland
We stayed in My Lady's Manor for a local family reunion last summer. We left our hearts in My Lady's Manor! The accomodations were perfect for three families (or more!) to stay in one home. The home is so charming and had such a nice feeling to it. Phyllis is an amazing hostess and helped us in many ways that were unexpected, not to mention convenient! the grocery store is right out the side door and the use of the kitchen was wonderful. We had fun making our own meals and not having to go out. Access to the quaint small town was walkable and the little train ride was well worth taking. The amenities were countless, property very clean and well maintained (especially for an old mansion) and we would definitely recommend the property to a friend or relative. We only regret that we didn't visit with Phyllis more about the Lake Dwellers of Lake Neuchatel which she would have known alot about. My dad remembers hearing about the Lake Dwellers in the early 30's when visiting his family in Bulle, and he didn't think about the connection until we were back home in Colorado. Can't wait to return to My Lady's Manor and hope it's in the stars for us.

A Perfect Place for a Party
A Perfect Place for a Party
We rented My Lady's Manor for a reunion of friends. What a great place. Phyllis was incredibly helpful and attentive every step along the way. The house provided us with plenty of space for the 19 of us to be together and also for people to steal private time away when they needed it. We all certainly loved it so much that we will return next year.

We rented the house for the second part of our wedding. My husband is American and I am Swiss. We had the first wedding in the US and the second part in Switzerland, with my family. The house was fabulous and we felt incredibly welcome. Our hosts went way further than the extra mile to accomodate us. Each room has a different atmosphere and its own charm. We feld like queens and kings! The view is phenomenal! There are so many adorable balconies that will give you another view of the house and the surroundings, that there is not a dull moment! It is incredibly calm and right next to a little supermarket (Swiss chocolate and Swiss cheese!!). The village is fascinating and the surroundings breathtaking. It can be intimidating to choose a location only based on pictures: believe us, it is even better than what you can see in the pictures. We adopted the house and our hosts in our family! We plan on coming back each time we travel to see our Swiss family. We would strongly recommend it to anybody and for any occasion.

Our extended family group (9 people - ranging in age from 10 to 72) had the wonderful experience of staying at My Lady's Manor for 3 nights at the end of June. Phyllis, the owner, is an exceptional hostess - a transplanted American from Wisconsin who has been living in Switzerland for some 30 years. Upon arrival, she gave us time to settle in, and then offered to give us a personal tour of "her town." What a delightful experience it was for each of us, young and old alike! If you have a chance, you really should try to have Phyllis bring Estavayer alive for you!! The location of the B&B is about 5 minutes from the train station - which made day trips very easy. While there, we visited Murten, Bulle, Gruyeres and Bern. Restaurants are also located nearby, and it's just a 10 minute walk to the shores of Lake Neuchatel. The village of Estavayer itself is quite charming and has a long and colorful history. We had 5 rooms - 4 doubles (two which connected for children/parents) and 1 single. The rooms were spacious, bright and cheery. There is also ample public space which allowed us to gather at the end of each day, share a glass of wine and recount our adventures. Games were available for the children. Two bathrooms were available to our group - one on the first floor and one on the second. A small kitchen area was also available on the second floor. Three of the rooms also had balconies. The only minor complaint might be the shower on the second floor - but our group was happy to overlook this small hotel, given how much we loved everything else! I would highly recommend My Lady's Manor.

About the owner: Owned by Phyllis. Born in Wisconsin. I speak English, French and some German. I have an apartment in the Manor where I live in the summer. Why the Owner Chose Estavayer-le-Lac:
I bought this lovely manor because it has a special charm from a bygone era. There is lots of space and I love gardening. The house is a cultural meeting place, where we hold classes in History and Archaeology for the University of Georgia, as well as other subjects. Familys love our house as it is easy to get supplies from the store across the street and is near the railway station. I am sure your family will love it too.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Our manor is located very near the railway station making train travel very easy. We are one kilometer from the Autoroute entry. You can also arrive by boat during the summer season. Our lake is connected to two other lakes with regular boat service. Bicycles are easily rented and there are hundres of kilometers of bike trail to follow. Our area has a rich historical past, which is why we house a Studies Abroad for the University of Georgia. You can follow 17000 years of history starting with the Latenium museum in Neuchatel, Neolithic village in Gletterons, Roman town of Avenches. In July there is an opera festival in the Roman arena of Avenches.
