Renowned architect Elee Tsai designed this stunning home – just a stone’s throw from the water’s edge -- to be a reflection of our soul’s connection with heaven and earth. Uniquely situated on one of the most spectacular Pacific coast bluff sites, Vista Del Mar (“View of the Sea”) boasts broad, unobstructed white and blue water ocean views from the living room, dining room, kitchen and all three bedrooms. Absorb the powerful force of the waves against the black rocks…feel (and smell) the ocean breeze on your face…this is The Sea Ranch at its absolute best.
Recently remodeled, Vista Del Mar features an elegant open floor plan with soaring exposed-beam ceilings and warm wood detailing throughout. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, it’s a short 10-minute walk to the Ohlson Recreation Center and beach where you can swim, play tennis and enjoy a relaxing sauna.
Musicians love taking in our glorious seaside sunset view while playing the Steinway Baby Grand piano – and everyone enjoys the comfy window seats, cozy fireplace and wood-burning stove. Movie fans can curl up in front of the large flat-screen TV (with DirectTV satellite) enhanced by the dramatic surround sound experience of our Bose Acoustimass entertainment center. And those that can’t entirely escape the outside world will appreciate the free nationwide phone service.
The chef(s) in your group will flip over the large, well-equipped gourmet kitchen with its exquisite Honduran Mahogany cabinetry. Grill masters and BBQ mavens always appreciate our high-quality, outdoor grill (with direct propane connection). Overlooking the crashing ocean waves, the spacious 1600 sq. foot deck gives everyone plenty of space to relax and unwind in our classic Adirondack deck chairs. If you visit in spring or late fall, keep your eyes peeled for seasonal migrating whales. After dinner, why not gaze at the moon in the star-filled sky while enjoying a relaxing soak in our new 50-jet spa tub (which can be closed off for complete privacy).
With its spacious 2400 square feet, Vista Del Mar’s three bedrooms and a loft offer comfortable sleeping for eight adults. The home’s warm, welcoming ambiance – complemented by tasteful furnishings – creates the perfect escape for relaxation and enjoyment of nature’s beauty. Bed linens and towels are available upon request. Please inquire about children under the age of 12.

American Express Magazine Travel and Leisure "Journey to the Garden of Youth" by Sports Illustratred golf writer John Garrity: "....on the sixth fairway of the Sea Ranch Golf Links, I saw the light. Don't ask me why the sixth fairway. I loved this unpretentious golf course from the moment I pulled into the parking lot and looked past the golf shop at a meadow riven with stands of twisted cypress and bishop pine. Braced by a freshening wind, I went off alone. As I walked up the second fairway, the sun broke out of the clouds. On the third hole, a woodland par three, I hit a six iron over the heads of deer grazing at the end of the tee box. But it was on the sixth, a windswept par five dogleg around...MoreCollapse
The "Hot Spot" is here on the Gualala River and legend has it that it was given it's moniker by Jack London (The Call of the Wild, White Fang, Sea Wolf, et al) who considered it to be one of the finest fishing holes in the entire world. It is fun to speculate as to how much of this area fed Jack's imagination when the novels were gestating in his noggin. Today, the Hot Spot is an excellent place for a family picnic (complete with classic picnic tables in sylvan setting). If you bring children with you, maybe you should suggest that they read London before they arrive. It might make their experience a bit different from the usual television driven imagination of today's youth. Who knows, they might even%...MoreCollapse

The California Cultural Historic Endowment was a major player in making the recent reconstruction of the lighthouse tower possible, as well as a small grant from Mendocino Community Foundation, and many Matching Funds from years of fundraising through the Save the Light campaign. BBQ lovers, put this place on your list! A visit to Bones is worth the drive to Gualala. The meat is smoked for 12 hours and is so delicious, it's kind of random that Bones is in this tiny town. About the owner: We’re proud to be the second generation in our family to own this beautiful home – and we've created countless warm holiday memories here. When the opportunity presented itself to assume sole ownership, it was truly a dream come true. Because Vista Del Mar was originally designed and lived in as the family’s year-round residence, we realized we didn't want our beloved house sitting idle in between our own getaways to Sea Ranch (we now reside on the San Francisco peninsula). And, as it turns out, making Vista Del Mar available to responsible families and/or couples as a vacation rental was the way to go.
Why the Owner Chose Sea Ranch:
The land was purchased when Sea Ranch first sprang up as a community (way back in the late 60’s when there were only dirt roads). Being pioneers in this new town, our family was able to select the cream of the crop from all the available lots. Knowing that an ocean-front home – with steps-away access to a secluded beach – was on everyone’s wish list, the unique lot on which Vista Del Mar now sits became part of the family. Speaking of family, our guests often comment how “luxuriously inviting” it feels to stay with us. One main reason is this home wasn't built to be a part-time, weekend getaway house. From day one, the family was committed to designing a home to be enjoyed as their personal residence.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
There truly is nothing like Vista Del Mar in all of Sea Ranch. With comfortable sleeping space for eight adults, every room in our 3,000+ sq. foot home has an unobstructed ocean view. The large, well-equipped kitchen is a cooks’ dream, the rec room has a foosball table and there’s even a reading library and stocked games closet. Or just relax in front of the 46” HDTV (with 230+ channels). As far as music goes, we have an amazing Bose Acoustimass 10-speaker sound system – as well as a baby grand piano in the main living area that overlooks the ocean. Step outside and enjoy the 1,600 sq. foot deck (with a BBQ wired into home’s gas line) and a private ocean-view spa. You’re only 50 feet away from the ocean bluffs where you can explore the secluded beach directly below. Vista Del Mar offers a tranquil getaway and convenient access to the best part of the California coast. We know that you will come to love Sea Ranch just as our family has.
