Large Luminous Studio in Charming Old Antibes - Great Location
- Minimum stay:N/A

Located in Antibes (on the French Riviera between Cannes and Nice) our rental apartment is in the center of the Vieil Antibes, the old part of town, a few hundred meters from the 16th century remparts, the sea, the beach, the Picasso Museum, the Cathedral and the Port Vauban (the largest yacht harbor in Europe) and the Marché Provençal - picked by CNN as one of the world's 10 best fresh food markets!
With its small picturesque streets, cafés, restaurants, coastline, good weather and numerous activities, the Old Antibes has more than enough attractions to keep a family entertained year-round. Good food markets, pharmacies, gift stores and whatnot are all within a short walking distance. Immediately outside our building there is the best ice cream artisan on the Riviera - bar none. You'll have fun picking your favorite of his homemade glaces.
But should you want to explore further afield, Antibes is also the perfect jumping-off point for day-trips to Nice, Cannes and Italy. No car is needed as the apartment is walking distance (10 minutes) to the train and bus stations, and the Riviera has a wonderful and inexpensive public transportation system. Nearby Nice offers inexpensive flights to numerous destinations around Europe or a three-hour boat trip to Corsica.
Old Antibes is also a very safe place to visit, as is all of Antibes - my petite wife is very comfortable going out and about at night. But you'll sleep well knowing that the apartment, while being centrally located, is safe and private (one floor up from the street).
The studio apartment is light, clean and spacious which is unusual for the immediate neighborhood as most apartments designed hundreds of years ago are small and dark. All furniture and fittings were purchased new for Fall 2010.

We echo the comments of the other reviewers. This apartment is in an excellent location and is equipped with everthing that one needs. It is sparkling clean and very well appointed. The owners, Andrew and Arlette, are outstanding hosts and provide very helpful information about Antibe and the area. Andrew took us on a wonderful day trip to the hill towns. In summary we recomend this property and when we return we would not think of staying anywhere else. Antibe is very central and although we stayed a week in Nice we would in the future skip Nice and just comute from Anitbe. The bus service and train service are excellent.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

On our second trip to Antibes (last visited 3 years ago) we opted to stay once again in this charming Old Antibes apartment. It felt like home and was the perfect choice. It is super comfy and our family of three enjoyed it even more than last time because it felt familiar and was great to see and visit with Andrew and Arlette again. They feel just like family. Right outside your front door are the ramparts, the beach and the market. We visited them all everyday and loved the routine. We were glad not to have a car and made wonderful day trips by train...being able to sit and view the countryside was the way to go. We enjoyed being able to take advantage of the market and to cook fresh things at home. Artlette has stocked the kitchen with everything you would need. It was great to wake up our first morning with the coffee, yogurt, bread already there. So welcoming! The umbrellas were also greatly appreciated, both for the rain and the beach. The bathroom is very large with a soaking bath and large shower and apartment was spotless. The location of this apartment, in the center of the old town, couldn't be better and some of our best times were spent food shopping, eating ice cream, and drinking coffee all within a block or two and feeling a part of this city. Andrew met us at the station and was very helpful with tips about the area and towns beyond. The apartment was also well supplied with guide books, brochures, and train schedules. There was also reading material which we loved as well. Loved it!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My new husband and I stayed in Andrew and Arlette's lovely apartment after our wedding! When we arrived at the Antibes train station, Andrew was there to greet us with a smile and warm welcome although we were late! We stayed a whole week and our entire experience was comfortable, fun and unforgettable because of them. Andrew and Arlette are very kind and considerate landlords. They gave us tips and pointers on local french custom to ease our transition into daily life on Cote d Azur. Andrew also insisted on carrying on of my bags from the train station to the apartment, and spent an afternoon taking us in his car along the coast to three little towns showing us hidden gems and his favorite places we never would have stumbled upon. Now the loft apartment was well appointed and I loved it so much that I was truly sad to be packing up on our last day and was always glad to be coming home to it after a long day of sightseeing. It has EVERYTHING from olive oil and cooking staples, pots, pans etc (I am cook, so this is important) to beach bag, towels and sunscreen. There is also an iron, stereo etc etc...I could go on and on...but the best way is to think of it is as your French home away from home! The bed is also so comfy and cozy! Then steps oustide your door is a farmer's market with everythings, shops, restaurants and bars! We would always run into Arlette on the way out and she always asked us how we were doing and answered any questions you might have. I also felt like she truly cared about our well being in France...kind of like in a motherly way. In short, this is an awesome place that is well appointed with thoughtful, caring owners! Book your next stay here! You will love it!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This studio has everything you could need, including a well-equipped kitchen for taking advantage of the outstanding offerings at the outdoor market and other shops and bakeries in town. The living space allows you to feel comfortable for stays of a week or longer, and the bathroom is truly luxurious for French standards. Andrew & Arlette are excellent hosts - providing as much or as little assistance as you need - and take pride in making sure the studio is well-cared for and impeccably clean. The small square it overlooks is about a 10-minute walk along the seafront from the train station. Individuals with mobility issues should note that the mezzanine bedroom does not allow you to stand up and the stairs require care, but being former boat owners we could handle this just fine. We loved our time in Antibes and the Cote d'Azur, be sure to visit St. Paul and Eze, fond memories of it all!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

What a wonderful discovery! We came across this super studio quite by accident while searching the internet for last minute accommodation. We spent 6 nights here and enjoyed every second both in the studio and in Antibes. Everything was just perfect - from the prompt initial exchange of emails to the warm welcome at Antibes station and the generous hospitality extended by Andrew and Arlette. Fresh roses, delicious orange and lavender jam, coffee, milk.... we immediately felt at home. The studio is absolutely spotless and exactly as it appears in the photographs. Centrally located in the old part of the town it is nevertheless remarkably quiet and peaceful. The air conditioning is a welcome addition and ensures that the studio is always cool and pleasant. The Parker's comprehensive knowledge of Antibes is an invaluable source of information for visitors and they share among other things their favourite bakery, restaurants and day trips. It was a real pleasure to have made the acquaintance of Andrew, Arlette and of course Capucine, their lovely boxer. We feel we now have new friends in Antibes and we will definitely return to their super studio in this idyllic corner of France.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We stayed in this location mid July 2012 and we were delighted! The location is superb in Old Antibes and the description and pictures posted are accurate. The apt was clean and spacious for me and my wife plus our two teenage kids who unfolded the couches for beds. The upstairs loft has a low ceiling, but it is manageable. Andrew and Arlette were great hosts. Andrew kindly met us at the train station and walked us to the apt (10 min) giving us some of the local history and helpful tips. He also was kind enough to give us a driving tour to Nice and surrounding area which was truly above and beyond our expectations (thanks Andrew!). The apartment is perfectly located with easy access to the great market, restaurants, beaches, and everything else beautiful Antibes has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed Antibes and this apartment and would love to return some day.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Our time in Antibes was AMAZING! Les and Arlette are such gracious hosts. Their studio is large and has every amenity you could possibly need and want. It also smells delicious and is very clean. We took a girl’s trip to Antibes and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. The studio is in the heart of the old village, which is a perfect location. The market, which is stocked with fresh groceries every day, is steps from the front door. All the shops and restaurants are also steps away. Les and Arlette have put together a binder full of suggestions. We went to most of the suggested places that Les and Arlette highlight in their binder and all of them were spot on... incredible!! Loved my stay at the little studio in Antibes. It was more than I ever imagined. I hope to make my Antibes visit an annual one and couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else than this magical apartment.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

After checking on VRBO the different available options for Antibes, we decided to book this studio because the reviews were great and looked honest. Well, we got there and it just exceeded our expectations. We had such a nice stay in the studio that we wanted to extend for another week but it was already booked. First of all, the owners Arlette and Andrew are great hosts. They picked us up at the train station which is not far (10 mins walk) but we did appreciated it because our luggage was a bit heavy. Once we got to the studio they explained everything to us regarding the studio features and all the local tips. The studio is small but with a good layout. It is decorated with great taste. Everything is in perfect condition, like new. We liked a lot the bath which is big (huge for european standards!) and has a tub and a shower. They provided us with the basic stuff to get going without having to run to the store (like toilette paper, sunscreen, milk, coffee, delicious mermelade, etc.) The location is great. It sits on top of a delicious gelateria (cannot miss an ice cream every night before bed), it faces the square where every morning there is the local market with regional products. This means that as soon as you wake up, you go out to buy the fresh fruit, cheese and bread for your breakfast. That is just fantastic. And in case you want to sleep late in the morning, having the windows closed isolates you from all the street noise. So, honestly, if your are heading to Antibes (great village by the way!), this is an excellent place to stay.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We just returned from a week in Antibes. The apartment is delightfully situated in the center of the Old Town. The kitchen is well equipped making it fun to cook with fresh ingredients from the daily market across the street. The beach behind the apartment is at the foot of the ramparts where on a clear day you can see across to the Italian Alps. Andrew and Arlette are very thoughtful hosts and attend to every detail including leaving us coffee, wine and spices for cooking. They are full of travel tips though we chose to park our car and spend the week soaking in the Antibes culture! We will return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I recently spent 2 weeks in this charming apartment in Old Antibes. It truly was a very memorable experience. The apartment has everything one would need, was extremely clean, and just downright beautiful! The owners, Andrew and Arlette are fantastic - great people to get to know. They were so kind to me during my stay - absolutely would recommend this apartment - so close to the ramparts, the market, restaurants, shops - everything you could want or need. I will definitely be back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: It was, as the French say, a 'coup de foudre' (love at first sight) when I saw Arlette behind the counter at her French café in California. A year later we were married in her native Antibes. And several years after that, we sold our Los Angeles home and moved the family to Antibes. The move has been a wonderful homecoming for Arlette, who has been away for 26 years, and a great adventure for me, as it is now my turn to get used to another language and culture. And what a wonderful culture it is! Very different from the hustle and bustle of the States. Our son, who is an architect in nearby Vallauris, France, also is loving his new home. Both Arlette and I have been blessed with rich and interesting careers. She spent many years as a teacher of both physical education and French, but has also been an artist, the founder of a women's charity helping homeless families, the owner of a French café outside of Los Angeles and, of course, a mother. As she has a wonderful eye, many friends and real estate agents have asked her to 'stage' their house for sale. I have worked as an aide to the mayor of New York City, the executive director of a nonprofit social services agency, the president of an alternative energy development company and when I was in my twenties, a chief of police on the island of Martha's Vineyard. Arlette and I both look forward to new adventures all the time.
Why the Owner Chose Antibes:
Ever since we got married in France years ago, we have maintained a second home in Antibes. We love the Vieil Antibes and we found ourselves visiting often for vacations or to stay close to Arlette's family.
When we decided to move permanently to Antibes, we bought the entire floor of a 16th century building in the middle of the 'old town' and remodeled it for ourselves, installing up-to-date kitchens, bathrooms, tilework, etc. The studio we rent to our vacationing guests was created during this work.
The remodel was interesting (at times challenging) as the building's old stone walls are 30 inches thick, but the results are very gratifying. We bought this particular building because it is strategically located and it is where we personally wanted to live - close to all amenities. Our guests will enjoy the location immensely, if they want to be surrounded by life on the Côte d'Azur in a wonderful setting - cafés, restaurants, the beach, 16th century remparts that are perfect for evening strolls, older men playing pétanque in the parks, a group cyclists streaming by shouting Italian to one another, a shiny red Ferrari parked on a narrow cobblestone street, a basket of strikingly yellow Mimosa flowers. And, a outdoor market with fresh food at your doorstep. This is not a bucolic small village in the French countryside, this is a popular year-round community with interesting year-round activities.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Location, location. What is true about real estate investment is also true for vacation destinations. Antibes is a sought after destination and has been ever since the Greeks started a city here thousands of years ago. It offers great weather, beaches, a wonderful harbor, good public transportation, great food in cafés and restaurants, security and stability, good accommodations, French culture, nightlife, year-round interesting activities like the annual Jazz Festival, attractions like Marineland, a preserved yet lively 'old town' and yes, even a little bit of glamour from nearby Monaco and Cannes.
Food is a national pastime in France and our guests have a myriad of choices to indulge. 'Old Antibes' is full of restaurants and cafés that we can recommend. Although most are, of course, French cuisine, there are others that offer Chinese, Indian and British menus. Obviously, being as close as Antibes is to Italy, there are very good Italian restaurants.
The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen and the best farmers market (Marché Provençal) is two steps away from our front door. This outdoor market was picked by CNN as one of the world's 10 best fresh food markets! The displays of locally-grown vegetables, cheeses, flowers, spices and whatnot are great fun. The immediate neighborhood also has numerous specialty shops with fresh croissants and baguettes, fish, meat, wines - you name it.
Or you do what my wife and I frequently do - go to the market and buy some goat cheese, a little sausage, some cooked chicken, 2 mandarins and a baguette and Voila, a ready-made picnic to go.
Another delight are the dishes indigenous to the Southeast of France, like Socca. Socca is a chickpea type of crêpe that is cooked in a wood-burning stove. A single helping bought at the Marché Provençal on a paper plate is 2 euros - cheap and delicious.
