Insurance executive National Vice President goes country! After many years in the insurance business, Mitch and Roxanne Huggins had a dream to own a Christian hunting lodge for the lost and disabled youth.
The timing was naturally not as we expected it, but here we are and really enjoy what we do. Mitch and Rox were both avid hunters and moved from Billings Montana to enjoy the great outdoors of Nebraska.
As we drove to Nebraska we continued to wonder how there could possibly be an area of hunting in Nebraska! Were we ever surprised! As we entered what's known as the Bohemian Alps of Nebraska, it became more and more obvious. The terrain is like nothing you would ever expect in this part of the country. It has very steep ravines, thick trees and the most incredible view one could ever wish for.
Our 8500 SQ Ft lodge sits high on a hill with a 360 degree view that looks over the town of Sargent and much further. The view covers miles and miles of open countryside.
The lodge has 9 rooms available to rent. Each room includes a full bath, beautiful hardwood furniture, comfortable beds and are decorated to capture the lodge feel. We have two king rooms, 3 queen rooms with 2 queen beds each, 3 double rooms with 2 double beds and the kid's favorite, the bunk room with 4 single beds. The lodge also includes a shower room for those more adventurous campers and we have plenty of room to pitch your tent! All rooms have a private exit to the outside wrap around deck.
We are well set up for corporate retreats. First, given that Mitch and Rox were both in sales for many years, you have your built in motivational speakers should you choose to use us. In addition, we have a wonderful business center and conference room. We also coordinate and create team building activities whether it be hunting or simple outdoor activities.
The upper lever of the lodge is mainly designed for dining and is a wonderful visiting area. It boasts a huge fireplace, very high wood ceilings and a kitchen that is absolutely amazing. Two refrigerators, two dishwashers, all utensils, pots and pans, two stoves, an ice machine and a microwave. All are professional quality and are available for your use.
Rox's family holds a family reunion every two years. It is very challenging to find a facility that allows you to do your own cooking, which can save hundreds of dollars for your family. Please feel free to bring your own food and do your own cooking at our lodge! Or, we are available to cook for your group for an additional charge.
We are also a pet friendly lodge...if your pet is friendly to our lodge! Male dogs are not always too great as they seem to feel the need to own the place with their markings. If that's the case, we have several very nice kennels close to the lodge, or you are welcome to place your own portable kennel in your room.
Maybe you're just looking for a quite weekend away for just the two of you! This is the place. It's extremely quiet and private. We often create romantic gourmet meals in front of the fireplace for our guests with special occasions such as an anniversary.
If you're a high profile individual looking for total seclusion and privacy, you hit the bulls eye here! We have the ability to lock the gates at the entrance of our long drive. Even if the gates are not locked, it is completely quiet and extremely private here.
Come and see us! You'll be completely amazed that there could be such a bit of heaven in the middle of nowhere!

We recently conducted a small group meeting at the Comstock Premier Lodge and it proved to be an ideal informal setting where we were able to participate in relaxed and productive discussions. Mitch and Roxanne are very hospitable hosts, the private guest rooms and common areas are impeccable, and the meals Roxanne prepares and serves are first class. I would not hesitate to schedule another small group meeting at the lodge or to recommend it to others who are seeking a truly unique venue for a group event.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Situated on a hill in the middle of vast acres of open country, this lodge is ideal for a peaceful overnight stop, or a week of hunting if you are so inclined. The entire lodge is tastefully decorated in a hunting lodge style, with lots of beautiful taxidermy in every room. Decks all around offer peaceful reading or game watching. Friendly hosts, immaculate property.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We just returned from our first visit to Comstock Lodge - we will be back! We enjoyed the beautiful views on their property and were impressed by the cleanliness of the lodge. During our visit, we took walks around the property and our kids liked playing with the dogs and especially the cat, Maow. We also went to Lake Calamus, the Burwell Rodeo and Fort Hartsuff. We plan to add "tanking" to our next visit. Do not expect a continental breakfast, but instead be prepared for a delicious homecooked breakfast to start your day. We would recommend a visit to Comstock Lodge and think you will find Roxanne and Mitch as welcoming as we did.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

"If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Broken Bow, you must stay at the Comstock Lodge as a bed and breakfast. (You can also hunt elk, deer, red sheep, pheasants and turkey, but that's another story; check the website.) My wife and I decided on a July 4 weekend trip to the Black Hills from Lincoln. Due to a late departure from Lincoln, we did not want to make the trip a long 8 to 10 Hour Dr., so we looked at the map to determine how far we could get in about three hours. It turned out to be somewhere around Broken Bow. With the help of an excellent website (www.ComstockLodge.com), we decided to try the Comstock Lodge, near Sargent, as a bed-and-breakfast. What an excellent choice! We arrived at 6:15 p.m. and were greeted by Mitch and Roxanne Huggins, the owners. It happened that we arrived shortly before a driving rainstorm which abated somewhat in the early evening and then resumed in the early morning, about one a.m. Experiencing an electrical storm at the cusp of the sandhills was an incredible experience. The storm abated enough for us to spend time on the balcony outside our room for about an hour and a half watching eight deer that were in plain sight from our room. Our room was immaculate and excellently decorated in Lodge motif, equipped with two queen size beds. There was no TV (thankfully) but wireless Internet was easily accessible. Roxanne prepared a full breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs and muffins with juice and coffee, served at eight a.m. sharp. We bade goodbye at nine a.m., satisfied that we had stumbled upon possibly the best bed-and-breakfast in the beautiful sandhills of Nebraska."Did you find this review helpful? If you want to get away from the chaos of everyday life, you need to stay at the Comstock Lodge! My family and I were impressed by every aspect of the lodge. Rox and Mitch treat you like family. Our two children loved playing with the dogs and the cat, Maow. All information presented about the lodge is very accurate. It's clean, comfortable, welcoming, and the food is terrific! We felt at home. This is where you need to go for rest and relaxation! The view of the landscape is awesome. It's very quiet; no hussle and noise of the city. We were sad that we only stayed one night, but will make plans to return. The lodge is only 4 hours from our home and that makes it easy to plan a weekend get-away. Thank you Rox and Mitch for your superb hospitality - we will be be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for visiting us! Our goal is to make you feel at home and we accomplished that! Thanks and come again soon!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: In addition to owning and running the lodge, I currently serve as an Area Production Leader for Independent Producers Of America. Our home office is located in Tampa and I am a national leader for the Western United states. When we purchased the lodge Mitch and I both retired from Insurance. I have since gone back to serve on the upper leadership team at IPA. Mitch is the full time Lodge guy. There's a lot maintenance and upkeep on a facility like this. We both love hunting and fishing. When you visit the lodge I'm sure you'll get an ear full of hunting and fishing stories from us. Rox is also a member of the She Safari Team. We are just gearing up to partner with SYC Colorado and Iowa. This is Special Youth Challenge. Mitch and Rox have both participated in handicapped hunts as guides and will be handicapped hunting from the Comstock Lodge. This will be donation based hunting and we will be looking for volunteers for our hunts as well.
Why the Owner Chose Kearney:
We didn't choose it...God chose it for us!
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
There's nothing like having your morning coffee or tea outside on the upper deck! The view is amazing, calm and you are completely surrounded by nature. The birds are chirping, deer and turkey wander the fields below. The well manicured grounds are fresh and green. This is truly a time when your mind is free of all stress and has to ability to rest and listen.
There is a lot of stress and pressure in life. I find this time to be a fantastic personal relaxation exercise.
