Why Vicenza? Comments by Travel Travel UK.
Sandwiched between Venice and Verona, Vicenza has somehow slipped off the tourist circuit, yet the historic centre is a Unesco World Heritage Site, with peaceful squares and porticoed streets graced by life-sized statues and picturesque balconies designed by the great architect Palladio and his followers. It's a wealthy city, with plenty of art, good shopping a nd excellent restaurants. I could not have said it better myself!
Our non smoking home is a five minute walk to the Piazza dei Signori (the center of the city). It is centrally located just a few steps from the ancient walls and Roman ruins. I enjoy the short walk through the park to the train station, where Venice, Padova and Verona are just minutes away. No need for a car, but if you do have one, we have a covered locked garage.
Our luxurious apartment is on the second floor (elevator) with 3 bedrooms (two king size and one twin) Open entry that leads to kitchen, living room . The spacious living room is airy and full of light and the full kitchen will give you the comforts of home away from home. Nearby you will find stores full of locally produced gourmet foods. Buy your dinner to go or do it yourself. All our pots are in stainless steel and we do have some American appliances. Quality restaurants, and pizzeria's are just a short walk away. Both bathrooms have been completely renewed, with shower, bidet, toilet and sink. The larger one opens to a balcony. The second bathroom, has stall shower, bidet, toilet, sink. We have books in English and Italian, and a piano.
The living room has a regency rose wood table and chairs with original leather of period. The designer sofa is filled with down feathers and covered with linen velvet. The book shelf is an 1800 period library with several 200 year old books. The coffee table is Argentine onyx place on 1600 century base. For those who care and can appreciate Italy's treasures.
I enjoy a cozy comfortable bed with smooth linens, so I hope you will as well.

Why the Owner Chose Vicenza
My husband and I where in the performing arts and Vicenza was a convenient location for us.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
My home is in such a wonderful location. It is close to everything that is necessary for a wonderful stay. The new Theater is a walk away, as is the town center and the various forms of transportation. I love Vicenza, because it offers a sense of tranquility and elegance at the same time. If we choose to go to Venice, the train offers a short ride and there we are in the magical world of the Doge's. Love it !!!
Owner's Map of Vicenza
This is our home away from home. Loving Italy and California make it difficult for us to spend all our time in either country. Opera, roses, and labradors are difficult to raise in an apartment. We chose to be apart of the best of both worlds.
When we are in California, I miss my friends and relatives in Italy. We miss the food and the carefree lifestyle. BUT when in Italy, I miss my roses, bees, and puppies.
Being apart of VRBO, has given us the opportunity to meet some lovely people and we delight in the fact that they have enjoyed their stay in our home.

Our family has stayed in this apt. twice now- the first time for 4 nites(6/08) and the second time for 7 nites(6/10) and we cannot wait to go back. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths , full kitchen, and room to spread out--all for less than the cost of a hotel room. Fabulous grocery store across the street with an incredible selection of cured meats and cheeses, friendly greengrocer, and an abundance of excellent restaurants in walking distance. Great for daytrips- take the train to Venice or Padua or Verona- no traffic or parking hassles! Drive your car to Bassano del Grappa, Asolo, and other quaint nearby historic and cultural towns. Vicenza itself is worth 1-2 days of walking around and sightseeing. Drive out into the countryside or take tour of the villas of Palladio. The apt. itself is clean, well equipped, and spacious. The owner has a nice library of guidebooks and local touring info and connects you to the local businesses, restaurants, coffeehouses, etc. It is about a 2-2 1/2 hr drive from Malpensa airport in Milan. A perfect place to unwind after flying in. The photos and desciptions are spot-on. You could do without a car but I could not imagine missing out on driving in the Italian countryside. The underground parking is a bit tight but doable.

I have stayed in this apartment six times and look forward to another trip to Italy and a long stay in this comfortable apartment. The spacious apartment is well-maintained; has two modern bathrooms, lots of light. It was wonderful to be able to walk to the grocery store, the butcher shop, the green grocer. It is an easy walk to the train station for day trips to Verona, Padua or Venice. And I walked to the Center everyday, shopping or going to museums or just sitting in the piazza watching people! A couple of our favorite restaurants were closed (this trip was later in the year than our others.) But there were still many restaurants and we had some wonderful meals. But we enjoyed cooking our own meals in the apartment; there are plenty of pots and pans and it was easy to put together some delicious meals. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to spend some time in Vicenza and the special towns of the Veneto. It is obvious that the owner has made this apartment into a special place and is concerned that we renters have a good experience. The owner is always helpful and ready to answer any questions or concerns.

We arrived on July 24th, 2011 via Marco Polo airport in Venice. This was a very easy transport to Vicenza via a short bus trip from the airport to the Mestre train station. The train ride was approximately 32 minutes. It was raining when we arrived so we had a taxi take us to the apartment. This is a 10 minute walk, however. The apartment is absolutely awesome-the pictures do not do it justice. The layout is perfect-3 beds/2 baths and a full kitchen and a huge living room-dining room and foyer. There is a parking space in the garage which is very convenient. Additionally, there is a washing machine which allows you to cut down on your packing. The location is super convenient with a grocery on the corner which is about 100 feet down the street. On the other corner is a butcher shop and next door to this is a fruit and vegetable shop. Remember that Italians have quiet time from 1-3pm which means these shops are closed. Just plan your shopping accordingly. Also if you arrive on Sunday you may not notice these stores as being open as everything is closed on Sundays. The city-center is full of life during the evenings and especially on Thursdays (during the day) when vendors set up their wares in the piazza. You can walk to the city-center in about 5 minutes. There are many options for shopping if this is something that may interest you. In addition to enjoying life in Vicenza we took many day trips to Venice, Verona, Padua and Lake Garda. Depending on the time of year I would recommend attending the opera in Verona. We attended Aida in the Coliseum and it was absolutely spectacular. Also take advantage of touring the Palladio Villas nearby. Vicenza is a very charming and friendly city. It is a perfect 'base' for day trips in the Veneto region as well as just hanging out and enjoying life. Truly, a perfect vacation! Ciao
Owner response:We thank you so much for being our guests. We are delighted that you found the apartment pleasant and comfortable.

2 month Sabbatical!!!!

My Brother and I found this location while searching for a place to Sabbatical back in 2009. We are in the real estate rental business (build classical buildings), owning and managing 300 units in an University town in the States, so we know renting a place sight unseen is taking a major gamble. We also had our reserves about who we were going to be renting from, as I am sure Lynne (owner) was concerned who she would be renting to as well. After a few telephone conversations and email exchanges, we were sold that this was a trustworthy and delightful individual. After arriving in Vicenza, which was my brother's third visit and my mother's and my second time to visit the lovely city, we found the apartment to be a very easy walk from the train station. The apartment was very clean, the furniture all attractive antiques, the baths very clean. The location was literally 30 meters from the ancient Roman arena, which is in the city center (the Piazza dei Signori was 500 meters from apt). Let me follow this up by saying, I don't stay in crappy places. I've traveled all over North America and Europe, and if something looks sketchy or unsanitary I will turn around and walk right back out the door. I don't consider myself a snob by any means, but two musts while traveling with me are where I'm staying and where I'm eating (really fine dining restaurants.) I am a very meticulous planner on researching restaurants and lodging. On my two month stay in Vicenza, I walked the city forward and backwards and many times over. This is a very safe, clean, and definitely not a run down area. In fact, I am in talks with the owner about renting it again for a week this coming November. For the price, I recommend this to anyone looking to spend some time in Vicenza. Just remember this is not a hotel, it's an apartment and you will not have a concierge on 24 hour call to ascend the stairs and pamper your fanny.

I love this place...located hop skip and a jump to the local stores.. Easy walking distance to the train which we took into Venice. You can walk downtown and get what you need to cook from the once a week market. Nice and quiet apt. Lynn ( the owner) was most helpful when we asked where to go to eat and what to see. Will stay here again for sure. Kay and Jon

I have stayed at this property twice and on both occasions, the stay has been excellent. The apartment is very conveniently located; you can comfortably walk to all the main sites in town. I typically walk to the train station where one can catch the commuter trains to Venice. The apartment itself, is very nice, roomy and beautifully furnished. Having stayed at many VRBO properties in Italy, I can safely say that this place is a top value.
