  we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else on nevis! from the beautifully manicured grounds to the spacious (for two) and immaculate interiors, this place has it all. the kitchen was expertly stocked with all manner of cookware and appliances, which was great since we ended up preparing most of our meals "at home". the view of st kitts from the balcony/pool area was a daily inspiration. and the property is so private! we hardly saw another soul in this adorable neighborhood during our 7 days. the house manager met us at the airport and answered all of our questions, including setting us up with a guide for our incredible hike up nevis peak. the lax family took great care of us, and they will take great care of you too!

  This was our second wonderful vacation at Hummingbird. Last year we went with two other couples, this year just my husband and I. The house felt just right both times - we had plenty of space and privacy when we were 6, but didn't feel lost when it was just the two of us. Mornings by the pool reading and enjoying the gorgeous gardens and equally beautiful views; afternoons at one of Nevis's lovely beaches; cocktails on the veranda, enjoying the sunset - our ideal vacation. The house is lovely - comfortable, well-maintained, nicely furnished and well-equipped. The homeowners are attentive and very helpful and generous. We are planning on a third time around in 2014.

  From the moment we arrived on Nevis we knew we had chosen the Perfect Vacation Spot. We were met at Oualie Beach by Hummingbird House Manager and she escorted us to the Hummingbird House. As you drove up to the gate you could see how beautiful the garden are. As you walked by the pool you could not help but stop and look at the most AMAZING VIEW. The pictures accurately reflects what the property looks like. When we walked into the house it felt like home . The house is so well stocked with everything you could ever want or need . I have to say that Richard and Claire are amazing people to deal with, They go above and beyond what most VBRO do. They arranged everything for us from the water taxi, car rental birthday reservations to information on Horseback riding on the beach . All we had to do was show up . The extras they did for us made our vacation stress free . I can definitely say we will be returning to Hummingbird House - for Nevis is truly the Gem of the Caribbean

  We have just returned from Hummingbird House and the only word to describe it is: Perfect! This little gem has everything you would ever need for a wonderful island vacation. The sun drenched pool, the cool, spacious house, the incredibly well-stocked kitchen, and large, quiet bedrooms all guarantee a restful, wistful holiday. That is, of course, to say nothing of the pool deck and amazing views in every direction. We loved waking up to monkeys playing in the yard and cruise ships gliding into St. Kitts harbour, and ending the day with a cool cocktail while those same ships steam into an amazing sunset. Richard and Claire have created a wonderfully safe and secluded environment and their agent Renesha was attentive and helpful with everything we needed which, truthfully, wasn’t much as everything really is all here at Hummingbird House.   We just spent 8 great days at the Hummingbird House w/ 2 other couples. The House is very comfortable w/ a great screened it porch. And the view of the gardens and islands beyond is just spectacular, can't be appreciated enough in a photo. Very well cared for w/ everything needed. There are a number of insteresting sights on the island (highly recommend a 4x4 tour) and excellent eating places w/ a great cast of characters who make you feel welcome. The owners provided excellent information & recommendations, extremely helpful. If this review seems over the top it's because everything was enjoyable during our stay. I've already recommended to family & friends locally, a great place for a get away vacation.

  We just returned from a week stay with two other couples at the Hummingbird House and I cannot say enough great things about this property and its owners. The house and its location and views are outstanding. We have used VRBO a number of times, but this was by far the best yet. The house was more like someone's personal home than a rental. It was well stocked and we were invited to use everything. The gardens were spectacular (better than the Botanical gardens that cost us $13/each to visit). Our yard with its flowering trees brought out a dozen or so monkeys each day, which provided several hours of entertainment and great photos. However, the property's best feature may be its owners. Richard provided detailed information and assistance with every aspect or our trip (and he seems to know everyone on the island). It was like having our own personal travel agent, which is invaluable when visiting an island for the first time. I mentioned to him that the purpose of our trip was to celebrate my 60th birthday and he arranged to have 2 bottles of great wine and a bottle of champagne there for our celebration (as well as a bottle at the Golden Rocks restaurant for our special evening). He encouraged us to stay in touch with him throughout the stay. We experienced a slight issue one evening, so I sent him an email. Before 8am the next morning, he had already arranged for someone to come to the house to fix it! Long story short, this was by far the best rental experience that we have ever had and I highly recommend this property to everyone who is looking for a great place with excellent customer service. We had such a great time that I am confident that we will return to Nevis and I am quite certain that we will rent the Hummingbird House when we do. That is the best testament to the property and its owners, Richard and Claire.

  Our compliments to the proprietors!! We had chosen this home with some consternation. After arriving we soon learned our concerns were unwarranted. We loved the central living area off the kitchen, the separation of the bedrooms and most of all the lanai room off the pool. This is such a great comfortable area to relax, have a nice meal, enjoy a drink or just soak in the amazing view of St Kitts and the ocean. The garden at this home is amazing with so many mature trees and flowers. I was able to walk a short distance with my golf clubs to the upper holes of the Four Seasons golf course. With a little help from the cart room I was able to arrange a pick up and drop off before and after golf. We also loved having bikes at the house and Winston at Bike Nevis both drops off and picks up. We chose not to hire a full time car and found the local taxi services of "Elvis" when needed for groceries, destination dinners or beach excursions. Granted we are not afraid to walk or bike so we might not be the norm. I think it's worth it though to arrive and decide if its right for you. Richard and Claire were really great to work with and we found them to be favorites with the local as well. We have only great memories of the Hummingbird Nevis and look forward to going back.

  We had the most perfect time ever at Hummingbird House. The photos do not do it justice. The grounds are immaculate and so beautifully kept. The flowers are always in bloom. The view is magnificent from the pool deck. It is so wonderful to have your own pool to cool off in after a long day seeing the sights of Nevis. The house is wonderfully kept. It is immaculate, comfortable and your every need is cared for. The owners are so very generous, sharing their wonderful home and are the perfect hosts from afar. Richard and Claire were so very helpful in answering all questions as well as helping make arrangements as far as taxis to the speed boat landing, boat over to Nevis and a rental car. They also helped recomending activities such as a yacht trip, private dinner and beaches to see. There were instructions and directions to all the local grocery stores and reccomended restaurants. My only regret was not reading a Nevis history book BEFORE we left for our trip. I purchased one while there to help appreciate the historical sites we visited and hiked around. Nevis is the perfect place to visit to get away from it all. We cannot thank Richard & Claire enough for helping us have the most perfect vacation and anniversary!!

  We had the most amazing time at Hummingbird Villa and Nevis. Pictures are lovely but in person this property is even more beautiful and we have to say that it exceeded all of our expectations as you never know til you actually are there. The Villa was extremely clean and spotless and beautifully maintained and furnished.. From the Villa there were the most incredible views across to St Kitts which we took full advantage from the pool and patio and the beautifully decorated screened porch area. The tropical gardens also amazing and I would take my daily walks admiring every blossom and plant.I have to say it was the most completely outfitted Villa with everything anyone could need or want . From culinary equipment and spices to the music Ipod and big screen tv's.Playstation 3 gaming and dvd player,pool table and on and on. It is beautifully decorated and furnished and as I said all the comforts anyone could possibly desire. Loved lounging by the pool and watching the incredible Sunsets from this property too. The lounge chairs were great too and they have the thickest lounge cushions that are the ultimate in comfort and luxury.We found ourselves dozing off in them several times.We cannot say enough positives about Hummingbird Villa and Owners Richard and Claire whom were so incredibly helpful too us and made us feel like we were being treated with special care and attention before during and after our trip..I would not hesitate for one minute about renting this beautiful Villa .You will not be dissappointed! I almost hesitate to say too much as we feel this is one of those Best Kept Secrets you want to keep all to yourselves but truth be told ....We already want to plan a return trip back to Hummingbird it was that wonderful.The Nevisians are exceptionally friendly and open people .There always was a smile for us and they went out of the their way for us where ever we were. We felt very safe also . Each evening we would take a walk thru the neighborhood. We even went to a Nevis Horse Race which was a wonderful fun experience . We loved touring the Botanical Gardens ..and had a wonderul Tai lunch on propery.The monkeys made daily trips to the Villa in a tree next door and we loved watching them playing in the trees.The 2 Beaches we went to Pinneys and Oualie were just lovely. Great Eats we loved Indian Summer ( try the Butter chicken..delicious) Yachtsman Grill for a great lunch(thanks Denzil) A superb dinner at Mt Nevis Hotel . Low season many closed.

  We stayed at Hummingbird House for 12 days in August. This was our first visit to Nevis and we really enjoyed ourselves. The house is completely private with spectacular views, secluded but a short drive to town and restaurants. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and the owner was conscientious and made our stay stress free, he arranged for our water taxi, car rental and maid service. Nevis is a laid back island and a great place to go to relax and get away from it all, August is off season so it was really quiet! Our favorite restaurants were Indian Summer, The Rocks, and Bananas.
