I have only very positive things to say about this lovely town home just outside of downtown Ottawa. We stayed for 3 nights. The town home is stylish, comfortable, and incredibly spacious. It is in a quiet neighbourhood, with easy access to restaurants and groceries. Whether traveling on your own, with other adults, or with kids, this place is wonderful. Our trip required travelling into Ottawa, which we did by foot and taxi. The walk was lovely as the town home is right on the water, about 5 km from the Parliament Buildings. Isabelle was an incredible host. She went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. Arranging everything with her was easy and convenient. She was quick to answer emails and respond to our questions, and made many helpful recommendations (i.e. for restaurants) during our stay. My work is taking me to Ottawa again this fall, and I have already made plans to return to Isabelle's lovely accommodations.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is truly a luxurious and modern townhouse with a massively spacious master bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, great appliances, and very comfortable beds and bedding. The place was very clean and well maintained. We would recommend this place to friends and family, without hesitation, and we would love to stay again. Isabelle is such a warm, welcoming, and thoughtful person. We arrived in the evening and she was there to greet us and show us around. She had also stocked the fridge with items we would need in the next morning - so considerate. We experienced a short power outage one evening during stormy weather and Isabelle was there with lanterns, candles, and matches for us. We were pleasantly surprised by the proximity to downtown Ottawa even though the house is located in Gatineau, QC. The Bixi rental bike station was located within a half a block and we enjoyed many long bike rides on the nearby paths which run along the Ottawa River - beautiful scenery. It is also very easy to cycle to all the major tourist attractions, Museum of Civilization, National Gallery, Royal Canadian Mint, Parliament Buildings, Byward Market, Rideau Centre, War Museum, etc. There is a small food market very close by along with Edgar's, a very small but highly rated restaurant with fabulous panini and soup, and a Vietnamese restaurant with excellent food. A word of caution when driving down BLVD Tache to get to the house, lanes end without much notice, both right and left lanes.Owner response: It is always a pleasure to be able to provide a small measure of comfort and delight to fellow travellers. Bixi has just installed a station close to the property and is a great asset for those wishing to make full use of the bicycle path that runs along the river and reaches the major attractions downtown. I was delighted that my guest explorers discovered the newly installed station all on their own!

Who could have imagined that living eco-friendly could be so luxurious and comfortable! We recently spent 10 days living at the property and felt completely at home, allowing ourselves to be spoiled by the amenities and surroundings. From great views of the Ottawa River to radiant heated floors throughout; king sized beds that were far too enjoyable to want to get out of; huge walk-in shower stalls and a kitchen that was equipped for everything from quick bite food on the run to gourmet cooked meals. Isabelle is the perfect hostess, quick to respond to any request and made us feel so welcome. Just say we loved it so much, we have booked more extended stay visits and look forward to escaping, relaxing and being spoiled by our surroundings.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you, it is a pleasure to see guests relax and enjoy their new surroundings. We try to create a beautiful and comfortable environment and, to keep things fresh, we undertake improvements and add small touches before the arrival of each new guest. Returning guests are very special to us and we welcome their opinions on how we can make their next stay even more enjoyable.

We are a family of three who spent a week vacation at this lovely condo rental in Gatineau/Ottawa last July 2012. We enjoyed every bit of it, the proximity of the river, the cycling road, the tennis courts, the short drivable distance to Ottawa's major attractions and above all the comfort of the beds. Isabelle provided us with the lasted information on Gatineau/Ottawa activities, shows, concerts, exhibitions etc. We were pleased to use the fully equipped kitchen as my husband and I love to cook and enjoy a nice bottle of wine without the impression of being robbed. Thank you Isabelle for your hospitality,we enjoyed our stay in your condo and would definitely recommend it to others! Pierre and FrancineDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We found this accommodation met all our expectations for our week+ stay, both as cyclists and as a couple looking for a getaway. We were looking for a relaxing, clean and comfortable place to enjoy when we weren’t out on the hills or gallivanting in Ottawa. The kitchen / dining / living area is open, spacious and bright. It’s a room that creates an easy atmosphere for chatting and laughing while cooking dinner. We cooked most of our meals there because the kitchen has a good selection of pots, pans and other such necessities (like wine glasses, good quality dishes and cutlery). The beds are comfortable with soft, high quality linens. All 3 bathrooms (one on each floor) were clean, clean, clean. Great walk-in shower too! A few notes on the area… The small grocery store nearby has all the essentials but we ended up taking a trip to Loblaws and liquor store (SAQ) about 3km away for more variety. There is a short pedestrian strip on Avenue Laval that has several decent restaurants/patios and a great little farmer’s market on Thursdays (be sure to visit the bakery bread booth for the most amazing croissants). This is about a 35 min walk / less than 10 min by car. Café Edgar has wonderful lunches and coffees, just a 3 minute walk. We went on evening strolls along the paved path which follows the Ottawa River. The path is 1 minute from the door. We also cycled this relatively flat path on “rest” days and it was just as fun as the Gatineau hills. It truly is a cyclist’s / runner’s haven. Gatineau Park is a 2 minute ride / run away and the cycling is amazing. We enjoyed several different 60+km loops but those could easily be made longer or shorter. There is also a bike shop just down from Edgar’s which I needed to visit for a quick fix and so it’s very convenient in every way for cyclists. And last but not least Isabelle, the owner, was wonderful – attentive, accommodating, warm and professional.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you, I am very happy that we were able to provide a place of comfort to which our guests could retreat after an eventful day exploring the region. Cycling is a great way to discover the neighbourhoods of Gatineau and Ottawa as well as the natural beauty of Gatineau Park and the Ottawa River. After a tastey meal that our guests lovingly prepare themselves, and a deep sleep in a comfortable bed, the idea is that our guests fully recover energy for the next full day of new experiences.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1989
About the owner: The many pleasurable stays I experienced around the world at VRBO properties convinced me to open my own home to fellow travelers.
Why the Owner Chose Ottawa:
The neighbourhood is a gem. Not only is it the only neighbourhood directly on the shores of the Ottawa River within the five inter-city bridges, but the people who live here are varied in their occupations, incomes and backgrounds. There are many businesses as well as houses, a university, a church, a daycare centre and an elementary school so the streets are friendly.
