Cedar Creek condo description
Our mountain retreat has been a family affair for years and now you also have the opportunity to enjoy the condo and 12 months of recreation opportunities. Even if you are here for a conference, you should find a little time for R&R.
Alice took the photos and her skills leave a bit to be desired but she is still a 'photographer's work in progress'. Also, we have a bit more decorating to do including the addition of a couple chairs in the living area.
From our 2nd story condo with cathedral-ceiling you will have the very best views of Andesite Mountain and Mountain Village Town Center - it is a site to see at night with all the lights!
'Homey and comfortable' are the terms our friends use to describe the place. Our decor reflects Montana's Big Sky Country showcasing the great out-of-doors.
In addition to our 2 comfy bedrooms/2 baths there is a linen closet and storage room for your use.
Off the dining area is a balcony with $1 million view. A great place to bask in the afternoon sun or watch the sunset. If you stay in the winter months, we also provide a shovel for you to keep the deck clear of snow - and we get a lot of it!
For skis, poles, boards, boots or more storage, there is also a keyed locker in the hall for your private use.
You are on your own for food but you will always find the essential staples - coffee, tea, salt, pepper, cooking spray, Mrs. Dash, sugar, sweetener, flour, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, and coffee filters. Just fire up the crock pot and then enjoy the day!
The 40 in. flat screen TV has channels galore; WiFi internet is password protected and only for your use; and cell service is very good.
There are plenty of activities to do in and around Big Sky all year long. Whether you ski or snowboard in the winter or like to hike, zipline, mountain bike, fish, visit Yellowstone National Park and take in the farmers market and cultural events in the spring, summer or fall, Big Sky and the surrounding area has what you are looking for. At the end of the day, consider a special meal or dip in the hot tub at the main lodge at Mountain Village or Moonlight Basin. For your convenience, there is a free shuttle to these areas as well as the Town Center, Meadow Village and Buck's T-4.
While the condo is in the Mountain Village, it is just a short drive to a multitude of recreation - but near to Bozeman - an exploding medical, cultural, commercial, university and hi-tech community.
If you are considering other options or have more than 6 people, please take a look at our Comfy Country Retreat (VRBO.com/47536). It is located between Bozeman and Big Sky at the southern end of the Gallatin Valley and about a 45 minute drive to Big Sky's Mountain Village.

Cozy Condo Full of Extras and Charm
Cozy Condo Full of Extras and Charm
We just finished up a two and a half week working vacation at the Comfy Mountain Village Retreat. Lloyd and Alice really make an effort to make sure you have everything you need while you stay at their condo. They actually drove up to Big Sky the day we arrived to check in and see if everything was all right (which it was). This place is actually quite large (at least the two of us felt like we had plenty of space) and there is storage galore for those of you considering a longer stay. In addition, the kitchen is stocked with practically everything you need - we ended up cooking 95% of our meals at the condo and all the pots, pans, utensils and leftover containers made it feel like home. Lloyd and Alice also had dish soap, laundry soap, TP, tissue and coffee filters available (among other "little extras"). Finally, the internet connection is strong and reliable (which is not always the case around here) for those of you who need to work. And Lloyd and Alice let us extend our last day by a few hours because we had some work responsibilities that needed to be taken care of that day (thanks so much, we are very appreciative!) After the work day, this is a great basecamp for access to multiple hikes and bike trails, or even better if you want to just snuggle on the couch by the fire with one of the many cozy blankets around the house. We have stayed at many vrbo rentals and I think this one definitely rates at the top of the list. This place really is a great deal. Thanks, Alice and Lloyd!

Owner response: Thank you for your kind words and are glad that you had a wonderful time in Big Sky and at our condo! We do try to accommodate our guests with many items that are only needed in small supply like dish & laundry soap, coffee filters, etc. We have traveled a lot in our careers and now try to treat our guests as we would like to be treated. Have a safe journey and we hope to see you back the next time you are in Big Sky! We appreciate your business - very, very much.
Wonderful getaway! About an hour from Yellowstone in a quiet community. Just what we needed. The view is amazing. The condo was clean and cozy. The owners were great. Thanks for everything.

Owner response: Glad that you all had a terrific time and that we could accommodate the extra day to stay and ski more. It has been an amazing year for snow at Big Sky. Hope to see you next year! Thanks for allowing us to earn your business:)
Went to Big Sky with 7 friends (not all stayed at this place) for some great skiing and we were not dissapointed. It is a huge mountain with great terrain, including lots of great tree and bowl runs. We also got a powder day which was awesome and we found untouched powder for 2 days after - in the trees. However be warned the powder hides the jagged rocks off of the challenger lift and they ruin your equipement (lesson learned). The place was nice, as advertised, it fit 4 people comfortable. The only dissapointment was that the fire place did not work. The pilot was on but nothing else worked. We did not bother calling the owner but it would have been nice if it worked so we could dry equipement. On bonus was that you get $10 off a lift ticket by renting here.

Owner response: Glad to know that you had a great time. As for the fireplace, we also found that it was set to pilot when we came to clean. It should have been set to 'ON' rather than pilot. We'll double check this concern from now on so that others can 'dry out'. HOpe to see you again next year!
Happy New Year
Happy New Year
Happy New Year Alice & Lloyd! We had a great week in your ‘comfy condo’. As seasoned time share travelers, we found your private condo to have all the extras that we wish the timeshares had. We have stayed in many larger condos but never in one where we felt more at home. We cooked in four nights – a record for us. We also enjoyed a dinner out at By Word of Mouth (make reservations). We had casual dinners at Whiskey Jack’s & Chet’s Bar. Both good. The Cedar Creek location is a reasonable walk to Base Camp. We watched the fireworks at Big Sky on New Year’s Eve and spent New Year’s Day on a snow coach tour to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful. Well worth it. Two of us skied five days including one at Moonlight Basin. One had fun zip lining and snowshoeing. A wonderful week. See you next year!

Comfy Christmas Stay
Comfy Christmas Stay
Thank you so much for a very enjoyable stay. Our oldest son is working at Moonlight for the winter so we came to have X-mas together and to enjoy some skiing! The condo is everything one needs for a very comfy and fun time. Close enough to walk to"shuttle" to base and far enough away for peace and quiet. Thanks so much for the Christmas tree and other festive touches - it made our Christmas very homey. We will be back!

Owner response: Christmas in the mountains can be a very special time. Our pencil-style 'Christmas Tree' is in place year round so that everyone can enjoy the warmth it creates - whether snow is on the ground or not! We look forward to having you visit again. A&L
I have stayed here several times in recent months. The place is always clean, comfortable, and QUIET. The 'quiet hours' are wonderful. And NO SMOKING - wonderful. The new decor and linens make the place very 'homey'. This is a great place to go in any season as there are activities going on all year round. Hiking, sking, Yellowstone, concerts, etc. When you get to the condo you will probably say ' this is just as advertised'. Come check out the digs!!!!

About the owner: Alice came to Montana more than 35 years ago to attend graduate school at Montana State University. She loved it so much that she was determined to return when she retired. Lloyd met Alice in Nebraska. Alice's only requirement for getting married was that Lloyd had to be willing to move to Montana when they retired. So here we are!!! We each have a PhD in soil physics and enjoyed careers working in agricultural and environmental research and extension. Lloyd was a federal agricultural scientist in Nebraska and conducted research on rainfall - induced soil detachment, animal waste management, irrigation management, conservation tillage, soil compaction and soil quality. Alice was a professor at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She conducted most of her research on farm fields specializing in rain - induced soil erosion on steep hillsides, soil compaction, reduced tillage systems, and crop production under drought conditions. Her work as a state extension specialist focused on translating research results on the above (and associated) topics into useful information for farmers, ranchers, agricultural companies, and local, state and federal agency personnel. She also served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. for two years. First as a Water Quality Grant Manager and then as the National Director of the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE). We love all four seasons here in Montana and shy away from becoming snowbirds! However, we do enjoy traveling around Montana when we have the time. Many of our recent Montana travels coincide with visits from our grandson from Houston. He is a real outdoorsman and a fantastic photographer.
Why the Owner Chose Cedar Creek:
Montana is very, very special to us and we truly enjoy sharing it with others. We came home to Montana when we retired and had the opportunity to purchase this property a few years later. Alice used the Big Sky area for hiking, fishing and skiing back in the 1970s and 80s. Also, she took some soils classes that focused on timbered mountain soils and geology in the Big Sky area. Since the early days of Alice & Chet Huntley, the resort has really grown up but continued to be a family - oriented place for summer and winter recreation. For us, Big Sky is just another little piece of paradise. It is definitely Big Sky at its best!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Location! Location!! Location!!! * central mountain village location; * quiet setting; * modern facilities. This is what you get at the comfy mountain condo! You say you want to to travel around the area to see historical and cultural sites, recreate, tour Yellowstone national park as well as sight see and shop in bozeman? This central location allows you to get to most of these activities within one hour. Is it quiet here? You bet! Quiet hours are strictly enforced as is the no smoking policy. Come and listen to the 'silence and serenity' of mountain village. Your modern mountain condo were newly built in 2000. We are the first and only owner. While the rooms are homey and decorated to match the big sky country, you have hot water baseboard heat and a gas fireplace for a little extra heat and ambiance. This vrbo site is a good reflection of us and our hospitality. If you want big sky right outside your doorstep, this is the place for you! Otherwise, consider our 'comfy country condos' (vrbo.Com/47536) located half-way between big sky and Bozeman. Thanks for giving us this opportunity to share with you. We hope to earn your business!
