The Fox Den Lodge was designed with vacationing family and/or friends in mind. Built in the spring of 2014 it has three bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths.
Each bedroom has an independent bath accessed from the bedroom. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and walk in closet, and the bathroom has a deep tub and tiled shower combination. The second bedroom has a queen bed, closet and walk-in tiled shower. The third bedroom has two extra long twin beds, closet and walk-in tiled shower. The 1/2 bath off the living area is convenient if you have guests visiting during your stay or individuals sleeping on the pull out sofa.
The Great Room is 30' x 20' offering mountain views and classic Montana hospitality with the dining, kitchen and living room all part of the Great Room. The dining table seats 8 and there is a breakfast bar in the kitchen. You will find the kitchen well stock with appliances and cooking amenities. You can access the wraparound deck from the Great Room where you can enjoy grilling while taking in the view of Lionhead Mountain. The yard is away from the highway and a great place for the kids to play and enjoy the mountain air.
There is a large wash room with a washer and dryer along with a utility sink. The Swedish Sauna will seat up to 8 people and will be completed by November 15, 2014. This is a dry sauna that you can sprinkle water over hot rocks, great for relaxing after a day of exploring Yellowstone and the surrounding area.
There are closets in each bedroom and a large closet off the Great Room for storing luggage. Larger items such as skies and bikes can be stored in the garage.
The lodge has WiFi and good cell phone coverage. A large HD TV is in the Great Room along with a DVD player and stereo to play your favorite music.
There are three bathrooms and a half bath in the house. The master bathroom has a deep tub/shower. The other two bathrooms have walk in tiled showers. The owner of the Fox Den Lodge, Michael Keator, is a retired Park Ranger who worked in Yellowstone National Park for over 20 years. Michael retired to West Yellowstone for the beauty and recreational opportunities. Michael can assist you with planning your visit to Yellowstone National Park.
The Fox Den Lodge is located 8 miles from the West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park.Yellowstone is the nation's first national park offering exceptional recreational and wildlife viewing opportunities. During summer months you can hike and mountain bike U.S. Forest Service trails right from the lodge. Designated ATV trails are also available. Hebgen Lake is five minutes from the lodge and offers a boat ramp, remote beach, excellent fishing and water activities. You will have to bring your own boat, canoe or jet ski. The West Yellowstone Rodeo is within walking distance from the lodge, horseback riding is a 5 minute drive to the Diamond P Ranch.
During the fall months elk hunting is popular on the U.S. Forest Service lands surrounding Lazy Acres. Check with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks for out of state hunting license applications. Thanksgiving week offers the West Yellowstone Ski Festival held at the Rendezvous Ski Trails. The lodge is set up with an area that will accommodate two waxing benches.
During winter you can accesses 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and experience off trail riding and back country skiing.

About the owner: Greetings! I moved from Upstate New York in 1980 to Jackson Hole Wyoming. For the next ten years I guided river trips and wilderness pack trips with horses and mules, guided in wilderness hunting camps and backcountry ski trips, and taught Telemark and cross country skiing. In 1987 I worked for the US Forest Service as a backcountry ranger in the Teton Wilderness. In the summer of 1990 I began my career in Yellowstone National Park as a US Park Ranger. I worked all over the park until June of 2012 when I retired to West Yellowstone, Montana. Currently I live in a log house that I built in Lazy Acres in 2005. I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, rafting and skiing along with a sincere desire to share the surrounding area with visitors that don't have the opportunity to live here.
Why the Owner Chose West Yellowstone: This property is unique because I designed it to meet the needs of friends and family vacationing in Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding area. The area will give you all the excitement you can handle, and I wanted a place that you can return to after a long day and totally relax in the comfort and style of Montana.
The Unique Benefits at this House: The Fox Den Lodge is not only unique because of the mountain views but the close proximity to Yellowstone National Park and the country setting it sits in. The name comes from the fact that during the summer of 2013 we enjoyed the adventures and follies of a fox and her 5 kits that built their den under the shed next door. We occasionally have moose and dear walk through Lazy Acres during the summer.
