We loved Appalachicola and the area. The cottage was 5 minutes from the one light in town in a lovely location, quiet (except for neighbouring dogs at night). It was spacious and bright, well equipped, but whoever had been responsible for the cleaning only changed the sheets and towels. My husband and I spent our first hour cleaning, sweeping, wiping and scrubbing so that the dirt didn't bother us as much. There was also a very distinct musty smell that bothered me significantly.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The cottage is adjacent to another cottage. The cottage is right off a paved road. The home is sound proof, and is great for a couple.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Very clean & cozy space. One bedroom with queen size bed also queen size air mattress ( height of a normal bed) that my mother in law slept on an said it was very comfortable also a one person mat. (That came in handy with my 10 yr old) All the amenties of home...everything you'll need in the kitchen an bathroom down to laundry soap, shampoo, cooking wine an spices etc. The shower is a bit small (one person only) but we didn't mind. Small tv in the living room an only 2 chairs instead of a couch an no tv in the bedroom but hey if your like us we spent more time exploring an visiting some family. There is even a nice big comfortable bike in the back (yeah we seen that the last day of course lol! so we didn't get to try it out) Ps. We ate at a really awesome restaurant a short drive to Mexico beach "Toucans" which was on the beach. You could eat an feel the breeze from the beach it also had a mini playground in view of your seat for yourkids to play directly on the beach...awesome! http://www.toucansmexicobeachfl.com/ The beaches are beautiful an the people are so friendly. Mrs. Delores is such a sweet lady even though I didn't meet her personally my husband did an he went on an on how sweet she was. We will definately stay here again! :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

What a wonderful cottage! It is so clean & beautifully decorated. Our stay here was very peaceful, surrounded by the trees & a pretty view of Scipio Creek. It felt like we were far away from the world, yet quaint historic Apalachicola is only two miles away and it's a very friendly town for shopping & dining. We are very glad we chose to stay at Heaven's Gate - at night the view of the stars really made us feel like we were at heaven's gate lit by stars. We are looking forward to our return visit!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/8
