About this property
Deluxe-Loft-Private Bathroom-Terrace
At the heart of the trendy Glockenbachviertel neighborhood, yet peacefully situated in a rear courtyard with a private terrace, the generously and luxuriously equipped loft provides a downtown hideaway. The space is filled with art, such as works by the icon of Fluxus, Mary Bauermeister, and the carefully designed interior make this location into something really special. The loft is home to a constantly changing selection of art by a wide variety of artists. The philosophy of himmel und himmel is based on finding peace. BE – in an atmosphere of aesthetics, and privacy, surrounded by art. This is the fundamental idea behind the hotel concept. Effective noise protection and 200 square meters of clay plaster create a pure and harmonious atmosphere where you can feel at home and relax. Spanning a total of 110 square meters, the hotel offers three double beds and a Tatami meditation room, two bathrooms with toilet and shower, one with a rain shower. The subtle designed corridor leads from the generously sized living and dining area, with an open kitchen to the three rear rooms. The entire interior design was created over four years by artist Tilmann Krumrey and was built as a spatial sculpture. Art and design aren’t simply ornamental side benefits; they are the main attraction: Custom-made furniture made of smoked oak and American walnut – from comfy chairs to the imposing dining table, designer lights, dreamy curtains, and the cozy seating in the large living and dining area exude a consistent, stylish interior atmosphere. Supplemented with original works by renowned artists and newcomers. High-quality, discreet technology, such as the powerful ventilation system and the stainless steel kitchen, helps guests feel at home. A super-bright Panasonic projector and Dolby hi-fi sound make listening to music, watching movies, TV or sports into a true pleasure. The private terrace is a lovingly maintained outdoor space. The 3.5 x 3 m tall window facades can be fully opened outwards and offer a view of the loft’s 10 sqm terrace with real oak flooring.

Tilmann Krumrey: „Space and body (sculpture) are complementary. Within there is an unavoidable dialogue. I built spaces as stage for sculpture and spectator: acoustic, light, temperature, scent, tactile sense, body, all within one Gesamtkunstwerk (total artwork). Those spaces change consciousness and build bridges between the inner world of dreams and physical subsistence.“
Our himmel und himmel artspace is the attempt of transforming this spatial experience into every day life. An experiment, meant to take one year, in dialogue with building fabric and own body by living on the construction site from the very start. A souterrain of a 19th century townhouse was to be transformed into a multifunctional loft. It became 4 years of construction. Technical challenges: complex. Air conditioning, floor insulation, heating, acoustic, noise insulation, temperature conditioning, dehumidification, waste water, odor conditioning. Hotel, gallery, catwalk, movie, filmset, theatre and music: everything supposed being possible. It became a spatial sculpture whitin any change of bodyposition creates new incentives stimulating the joy of discovery. Partners in crime and co-creators are avantgarde urbanist Hajo Bahner and psychologist Caroline Meiller.
