Spacious, modern yet quaint & downright wonderful
7 of my housemates from college and I have been doing a girls weekend for years. This year we chose the Lilly Estates location and we couldn't have been happier. There were plenty of beds, a wonderful kitchen to prep our meals and several nice spaces to relax & catch up with each other. My favorites were the ginormous dining room table and a game room packed with all kinds of entertainment options. The fireplace was a nice touch too as it was pretty cold this weekend.
The house and grounds were wonderful. Lots of space indoors for all of us, and a cozy basement with fireplace. Comfy beds, too. The outdoors was great for the grandkids to run around, swing, slide, frisbee, and explore. Great game room. The hammer stump was a huge hit (pun intended). Definitely a five-star experience.
Very nice place
We had a group of 13 and needed a place to stay while we were in New Ulm for Oktberfest. Lilly Estates in Hanska provided a perfect place to stay. There were plenty of beds, and a cozy atmosphere. There was plenty of space to share. We were all very pleased. We are considering coming back next year.
Thank you for choosing Lilly Estates for your stay during your weekend away at Oktoberfest in New Ulm. We are glad you found everything you needed there to make your weekend great for your group. House and everything was left in great shape after you left. We hope to see you back again in the future.
Wonderful Lake Retreat for all ages.
Lilly Estates was a little slice of heaven. Andy provides everything inside and out to make your stay comfortable. Beautifully decorated home, wonderful views from inside and fully equipped kitchen. The grounds around the home were well groomed, beautiful trees and flowers. The lake was gorgeous. There are two docks, water slide and several water toys. The fishing was great. I can't say enough about this property. Thank you Andy, you are great to work with and I have already sent your web site to family and friends.

Damage Deposit Fraud, Dirty Lake, Okay Property
We rented a 20-foot Grumman Pontoon Boat that carries 10 people. On the first day, the Pontoon Boat did not work. When the owner arrived, he did not introduce himself, did not make eye contact, and was not hospitable. His attitude was shady and stand off-ish. He spent 2 hours attempting to fix the boat engine and then stated he had to leave and couldn't spend any more time trying to fix it.
Before departing, he said, “I have a deal for you. You can use my fishing boat until I come back later to fix the pontoon boat”. It was a very small boat; only carried 2 people. His offer was unsolicited and I absolutely did NOT agree to use his tiny fishing boat as a substitute for the 10-person pontoon boat. We brought several fishing boats of our own and had no intention of using his. We rented a pontoon boat to provide a platform to enjoy the lake together as a group. We understand things happen with boats, but we expected a full refund.
I was polite with the assumption he would return to fix the pontoon boat or provide a refund in good faith; however, he never returned!
The pontoon boat remained broken and moored at the dock throughout our stay. I called the owner several times but he did not answer. Nearly a week after our stay, I still did not receive a refund, so again text the owner to please repay the substantial pontoon boat rental fee. The owner finally fulfilled that request via PayPal..BUT THEN..on the same day, he took our damage deposit and claimed it was for the pontoon boat rental! I have submitted a fraud claim with VRBO, the MN Department of Commerce and my financial institution.
I can't believe he would take the damage deposit to collect payment for a broken pontoon boat that we never used. It is very hard for VRBO customers to dispute damage deposit claims. This tactic is the most unethical experience I've ever had with a VRBO property.
Additional Notes: The owner does not provide check out instructions and no resources are provided to clean the house. He also claimed deposit money for cleaning. This is understandable for a large house, but he should just include a cleaning fee upfront. 90% of Lake Hanska is only 4 to 6 feet deep, it's contaminated by livestock and pesticide farm run-off and infested with Carp. The water is rich with nitrogen from this farm run-off causing massive algae bloom. This is not a good fishing, boating or swimming lake.
It was unfortunate we had a stay end as it did with Jacob and his group of 13 young guys and their 2 boats. I met him and spoke to him on the day of check in and at that point seemed as an ok group. The next day on Labor Day weekend the pontoon did have a part malfunction and Jacob was willing to use the boat for some of the guys. Of which I called him in the afternoon and had to leave him a message to know that the pontoon would not be repairable until the next week. It wasn't till late that night he called back stating how well the boat worked and that they used it all afternoon on. This was evident from all the power left on to the boat, fishing line about and beer cans all left in the boat. They left the property in a large mess, several missing kitchen items, uncleaned dishes returned to the cupboards, hardwoods covered in a film, and house unlocked and patio door wide open for hours. They even helped them selves to cutting down a tree for firewood the first evening. Jacob has made many allegations proven to be falsified, and highly recommend not having him or his annual guys weekend at your property.
